Rick Duffield is best known for his work as the Creator & Executive Producer of the award-winning PBS children's series Wishbone (1995). Duffield debuted the series in 1995, eventually producing fifty half-hour episodes and the Showtime feature-length movie Wishbone's Dog Days of the West (1998), which Duffield also directed. He directed thirteen of the episodes. The series has been honored by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for its positive contributions to children's television, recognized by the Prix Jeunesse Internationale, and twice awarded Best Children's Series by the Television Critics Association. Wishbone earned nine Daytime Emmy nominations and won five Daytime Emmy Awards. In 1999, Duffield himself received a Daytime Emmy nomination for directing. A 1997 episode of the show that Rick directed received the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award. Prior to his work on the show, Duffield had a career in book publishing with stints in both editorial and sales. His interest in education led him eventually to a career in the development and production of educational television programs, including a live-action series for kids that aired on the Disney Channel in 1986. Recently Sesame Workshop hired him to develop a collection of movies for television and the the Corporation for Public Broadcasting enlisted him to produce an interactive digital television prototype. RIck is currently the President and Chief Creative Officer of Trailblazer Studios, which has facilities in both Dallas, Texas and Raleigh, North Carolina. Duffield earned his master's degree from Yale University and a bachelor's degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.
