Redemption Day, the 2021 Moroccan-American action thriller starring Andy García and Gary Dourdan, has unexpectedly surged into the Amazon Prime global Top 10, despite holding a dismal 14% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and just 4.5/10 on IMDb ratings.
The film, helmed and written by Hicham Hajji, follows a U.S. Marine captain who must rescue his kidnapped wife in Morocco, a plot that’s resonating far more with international audiences than critics probably ever anticipated. This week, it entered the Prime Video Top 10 in 13 countries, including major Latin American markets like Brazil, Argentina, and Peru per FlixPatrol. The strongest traction is coming from Central and South America, where the film has maintained consistent chart positions across the week.
Not just that,Redemption Day has also reached the Top 5 in Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Ecuador and Guatemala charting it for a full seven days. Costa Rica and Brazil also joined the rankings later in the week.

The sudden, disorienting plunge into “Zero” mirrors its protagonist’s ordeal: an American businessman, known only as “One” (Hus Miller), awakens on a bustling Dakar bus not to the Senegalese vacation he anticipated, but to the horrifying reality of a bomb locked to his chest.
A ten-hour countdown begins. His unseen tormentor, a chillingly calm voice (Willem Dafoe) delivered through an earpiece, issues commands for a series of missions. The vibrant, unfamiliar streets of Senegal’s capital become a labyrinth of immediate peril, transforming a personal journey into a desperate scramble for survival against a technologically mediated, invisible power.
The film instantly establishes a framework where global interconnectedness manifests as vulnerability, and the individual becomes a pawn in a larger, unseen game.

Congolese filmmaker Jean Luc Herbulot grabbed the Cine-world’s curiosity with the 2021 horror-thriller, “Saloum.” Despite the heavy influences of many genres, the film stood apart due to its innate African essence with the astute amalgamation of genre tropes and African mythology. So it is surprising that his latest, “Zero,” comes across as a tepid rehash of a multitude of the early new Millennium Hollywood films where the American hero has to survive the heat and the dingy alleys of a developing country, all with a yellow tinge.
When a film starts with the protagonist waking up on a crowded bus in Dakar (The capital city of Senegal) to find himself strapped with a bomb, one cannot help but be hooked. What follows is the familiar tale of American citizens trying to make the best out of a tricky situation in an unfamiliar territory and culture. I say ‘Citizens’ in plural...

Laurence Fishburne left CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for a specific reason. The show, which premiered on CBS in 2000, was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and ran for 15 seasons, in the process spawning half a dozen spinoffs including CSI: Miami, which ran for 10 seasons, and CSI: NY, which ran for nine. The flagship show, which followed a Las Vegas Police Department crime scene investigation team, featured a rotating cast of stars over the years, which included William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, Gary Dourdan, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Louise Lombard, and Elisabeth Shue.
Laurence Fishburne joined the CSI franchise in 2008, first appearing on the flagship show in season 9 as former medical doctor Raymond Langston and becoming a main cast member two episodes later, after the departure of Petersen's longtime character Gil Grissom, who had been a part of the series since the pilot. CSI fans were left scratching their heads when George Eads, aka Nick Stokes, suddenly vanished from the iconic series. The whispers? Drama, clashes, and maybe a tantrum or two. But according to Eads himself, the real story behind CBS pulling the plug on him was a big misunderstanding.

He claims things weren’t as messy as everyone thought, but try telling that to fans who were glued to their screens — and not ready to say goodbye to their favorite forensic heartthrob. One thing’s for sure — Nick Stokes deserved better, and fans still aren’t over it.

Throughout the Alien franchise, several characters have served as protagonists as the series took increasingly bold, varied directions with their storytelling. While most audiences are familiar with Ripley and her adventures through the original movies, shes not the only character that deserves to be associated with this franchise. Many other actors have made their contributions to the franchise just as unique and memorable, giving this series a sense of longevity that few sci-fi sagas achieve. Alien may be one of the best sci-fi movies ever made, but its the characters that allowed it to continue into the future.
The Alien franchise has reinvented itself several times throughout recent years, first with the Prometheus prequel series and later with Fede Alvarezs long-awaited spin-off Alien: Romulus. It's also clear the series has no plans to stop there: Ridley Scott is developing another Alien movie, and the story is shifting to televised storytelling with the upcoming Alien: Earth.

Renée Elise Goldsberry and Lynn Whitfield are forced to put their differences aside during a pivotal road trip in the trailer for the drama feature Albany Road.
The film from writer-director Christine Swanson is set to hit select AMC Theatres and Malco Theatres locations on Nov. 15, with those cinema chains handling the distribution. Albany Road centers on Celeste (Goldsberry), who is preparing for an important work trip and is dismayed that she has to share a car with her ex-fiancé’s mother, Paula (Whitfield). Celeste soon learns that Paula is keeping a big secret from her, with the movie exploring challenging family dynamics and the power of personal growth.
“We come face-to-face with what we fear the most or what we want the most, and sometimes you win — and sometimes you lose,” Whitfield says in the trailer.
Later, while seated in the car next to Whitfield, Goldsberry exclaims, “I hate being powerless!

A new episode of the Revisited video series has arrived online this morning – and since the latest entry in the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus, is currently in theatres, we decided this would be a good time to look back at one of the least popular Alien movies, the 1997 release Alien: Resurrection (watch it Here). In the video embedded above, you’ll hear how this film’s odd and wacky tone managed to kill the franchise. For a while, anyway.
Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet from a screenplay written by Joss Whedon, Alien: Resurrection has the following synopsis: The saga continues 200 years after Ripley sacrificed herself for the sake of humanity. Her erstwhile employers long gone, this time it is the military that resurrects the one-woman killing machine through genetic cloning to extract the alien from within her, but during the process her DNA is fused with the queen and then the aliens escape.

The attention-grabbing episode "Cockroaches" sets the stage for significant character development, leading to an exciting climax until the end. The impactful episode "Anonymous" showcases early engagement with a serial killer case and unique scientific work by the team. "After The Show" delves into team dynamics and professional envy, with Catherine's strong investigative skills coming to the forefront.
After 15 seasons, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has amassed many fantastic episodes, but only a few stand out as the best CSI episodes. Since the show ran for so long, few characters lasted until the end. However, beloved leads like Gil Grissom (William Petersen), Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) are major players in the greatest episodes of the series. The show is set in Las Vegas, and the crimes frequently incorporate different aspects of the city's history and legacy.
The series' huge success is because CSI did things differently than other crime procedurals.

Exclusive: A fan-favorite character is leaving And Just Like That… Karen Pittman, who played Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, will not be returning for the upcoming third season of the hit Max series.
Pittman was already a series regular on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show when she was cast in And Just Like That…, originally as a recurring in Season 1; she was upped to a series regular in Season 2. Earlier this month, she also was tapped for a starring role in Forever, Netflix’s upcoming drama series reimagining Judy Blume’s novel from Mara Brock Akil.
This put Pittman in the middle of a scheduling conundrum involving three high-profile series on three major streamers filming new seasons this year within similar timeframes.
According to sources, there was every intention for Pittman to be in Season 3 of Ajlt, and Nya was written into the scripts.

In five of the purported invites, Iam appeared to change the wording of emails from casting directors to make it seem as if they had requested Barrett to tape for a role when in fact he had not been called to audition.

Alien and Aliens are two of the most highly respected and beloved sci-fi horror films ever made… and all of the films that have followed have either been divisive in one way or another, or just flat-out poorly received. One of the least popular entries in the franchise is the 1997 installment Alien: Resurrection (watch it Here), which put some fans off with its wild and weird tone and its crazy ideas. Decades down the line, Alien: Resurrection director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is currently doing the press rounds to promote a theatrical re-release of his very popular 2001 romantic comedy Amélie, and JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols took the opportunity to ask him about the making of his Alien sequel. Here’s how it went:
Tyler Nichols: I’m also a big horror fan, so I have to ask you about your work on Alien: Resurrection. Because I still think of the underwater...

CSI season 9 marked the end of the original series with Grissom, and Warrick's death in the middle of the show had a major impact. Gary Dourdan left CSI due to contract disputes and his character's death was not originally planned. Despite not being part of the original plan, Warrick's death made the show better by propelling new storylines and allowing for character development.
Gary Dourdan left CSI in season 9, and here is why Warrick Brown left CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. CSI debuted on CBS in 2000 and follows a team of investigators who use science to solve murders or other crimes. After 11 episodes, a rekindled romance and a highly anticipated cameo, “And Just Like That” Season 2 came to an end Thursday on Max.
Developed by Michael Patrick King, the Max original takes place 11 years after the “Sex and the City 2” movie. Instead of following four friends in their 30s, the spinoff follows three of the main friends in their 50s as they navigate friendship, careers, new romances and the complicated rules of dating later in life.
TheWrap already broke down Kim Cattrall’s return as Samantha Jones. But if you’re curious how the season ended for everyone else, here’s what you need to know.

The deaths of Newt, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and Ellen Ripley in 1992’s Alien 3 created a significant obstacle to the franchise’s continuation. Five years later, Alien: Resurrection answered this problem by resurrecting central heroine Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) as a clone, spliced with xenomorph DNA thanks to the alien queen embryo gestating within the actual Ripley before her death. How Resurrection handled this pesky problem, and the return of the xenomorphs proved extremely divisive upon release, with one notable, unifying exception: the mesmerizing underwater chase sequence.
Resurrection takes place two centuries after Alien 3 and follows the mercenary crew of the starship Betty. The mercs deliver their human payload to the Usm Auriga, a military ship deep into their extensive scientific study of the xenomorphs. So much so that they’ve cloned Ripley numerous times over and have full-grown xenomorphs in captivity, which happen to break free while the Betty crew are on board,...

While already not the most beloved installment in the franchise, Alien Resurrection director Jean-Pierre Jeunet offers his blunt thoughts on Joss Whedon's criticisms for the film. The fourth movie in the long-running sci-fi/horror series picked up 200 years after the events of Alien 3, in which Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley sacrificed herself to prevent Weyland-Yutani from getting their hands on a Xenomorph queen embryo. Alien Resurrection sees Ripley cloned with the queen embryo in tow, now a hybrid of her human host, and resulting in a new onslaught of terror aboard a space vessel full of mercenaries and military scientists.
With a cast that also included Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman, Dan Hedaya, J.E. Freeman, Gary Dourdan, Chucky actor Brad Dourif, and Michael Wincott, Alien Resurrection hit theaters in late 1997 to generally mixed reviews from critics, with some praise aimed towards its direction, Weaver's performance and its visual effects,...

Original stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox will reprise their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, respectively.
Produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, the new CBS original series will star Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez, and Mandeep Dhillon.
Original CSI star Wallace Langham will also return to the series as David Hodges.
CSI: Vegas opens a brand new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began. Facing an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant new team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.

As CBS’ revival of “CSI” is nearing a series pickup, three actors have been added to the cast. Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria and Mel Rodriguez are joining the project, which would revive the series more than 20 years after it debuted in 2000.
Though multiple outlets reported Friday that the “CSI” revival was closing in on a straight-to-series order, CBS declined to comment on its status. Original “CSI” stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox have also been rumored to appear on the revival, but that has not been confirmed.
The show’s creative team, including Anthony Zuiker and Jerry Bruckheimer, are returning for the revival.
“CSI” first premiered in October 2000 and was CBS’ longest-running TV franchise until “NCIS” surpassed it a few years ago. It ran for 15 seasons, airing a special two-hour finale movie in 2015. It also spawned three spinoffs: “CSI: Miami” which starred David Caruso, the Gary Sinease-led “CSI: NY” and the short-lived “CSI: Cyber,...

Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria and Mel Rodriguez have been cast as leads in CSI: Vegas, which is nearing a formal straight-to-series order at CBS, I have learned.
I hear William Petersen and Jorja Fox are finalizing their deals to star in CSI: Vegas, which serves as a sequel to the mothership CSI series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, reprising their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, respectively. While billed as an event series, I hear CSI: Vegas, from writer Jason Tracey (Elementary), CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, could become an ongoing series running for multiple seasons.

CBS is nearing a series order for what would be an event-series revival of crime-lab procedural “CSI,” with Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria and Mel Rodriguez joining the cast, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The Anthony Zuiker and Jerry Bruckheimer series, which aired from 2000-2015, was a longtime hit for the broadcaster. Centering on the crime-solvers of the Las Vegas Crime Lab, the original cast starred William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Gary Dourdan, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, Robert David Hall, and Eric Szmanda. In later seasons, Laurence Fishburne and Ted Danson succeeded Petersen in the lead role.
This iteration has added Newsome, a longtime film, TV and stage actor. She is most recently known for her performance opposite Henry Winkler and Bill Hader as detective Janice Moss in HBO’s “Barry,” as well as a 12-episode arc on NBC’s “Chicago Med.” Other television credits include “City of Angels,...
