Redemption Day, the 2021 Moroccan-American action thriller starring Andy García and Gary Dourdan, has unexpectedly surged into the Amazon Prime global Top 10, despite holding a dismal 14% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and just 4.5/10 on IMDb ratings.

The film, helmed and written by Hicham Hajji, follows a U.S. Marine captain who must rescue his kidnapped wife in Morocco, a plot that’s resonating far more with international audiences than critics probably ever anticipated. This week, it entered the Prime Video Top 10 in 13 countries, including major Latin American markets like Brazil, Argentina, and Peru per FlixPatrol. The strongest traction is coming from Central and South America, where the film has maintained consistent chart positions across the week.

Not just that,Redemption Day has also reached the Top 5 in Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Ecuador and Guatemala charting it for a full seven days. Costa Rica and Brazil also joined the rankings later in the week.

Warner Bros.’ “Superman” held the No. 1 position at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second weekend, adding £4.8 million ($6.5 million) and bringing its total to £16.3 million ($22 million), according to Comscore.

Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” maintained a firm grip on second place, grossing $4.4 million over its third weekend for a cumulative total of $33.5 million. Warner Bros.’ racing drama “F1” remained in third, taking $1.7 million and pushing its tally to $24.5 million after four weeks.

Two new titles entered the top five. Paramount’s reboot “Smurfs” landed in fourth place with a debut of $1.6 million, while Sony’s slasher revival “I Know What You Did Last Summer” opened fifth with $1.2 million.

Universal’s “How To Train Your Dragon” continued its strong run in sixth place, earning $910,894 for a total of $27.5 million. Sony’s “28 Years Later” followed in seventh with $591,070, lifting its total to $19 million.

Well Go USA Entertainment has Jean Luc Herbulot’s action thriller Zero from Blue Finch Films for a US theatrical release in the second quarter of 2025.

Two Americans searching for a sense of purpose wake-up in Senegal with bombs strapped to their chests and 10 hours to find out why.

Zero was written by Herbulot and Hus Miller, who served as producers on the project alongside Senegal’s Paméla Diop , alongside Steven Adams and Gary Dourdan out of the US.

Blue Finch also represents Lesbian Space Princess, which is playing at the Berlinale in Panorama.

Throughout the Alien franchise, several characters have served as protagonists as the series took increasingly bold, varied directions with their storytelling. While most audiences are familiar with Ripley and her adventures through the original movies, shes not the only character that deserves to be associated with this franchise. Many other actors have made their contributions to the franchise just as unique and memorable, giving this series a sense of longevity that few sci-fi sagas achieve. Alien may be one of the best sci-fi movies ever made, but its the characters that allowed it to continue into the future.

The Alien franchise has reinvented itself several times throughout recent years, first with the Prometheus prequel series and later with Fede Alvarezs long-awaited spin-off Alien: Romulus. It's also clear the series has no plans to stop there: Ridley Scott is developing another Alien movie, and the story is shifting to televised storytelling with the upcoming Alien: Earth.

Renée Elise Goldsberry and Lynn Whitfield are forced to put their differences aside during a pivotal road trip in the trailer for the drama feature Albany Road.

The film from writer-director Christine Swanson is set to hit select AMC Theatres and Malco Theatres locations on Nov. 15, with those cinema chains handling the distribution. Albany Road centers on Celeste (Goldsberry), who is preparing for an important work trip and is dismayed that she has to share a car with her ex-fiancé’s mother, Paula (Whitfield). Celeste soon learns that Paula is keeping a big secret from her, with the movie exploring challenging family dynamics and the power of personal growth.

A new episode of the Revisited video series has arrived online this morning – and since the latest entry in the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus, is currently in theatres, we decided this would be a good time to look back at one of the least popular Alien movies, the 1997 release Alien: Resurrection (watch it Here). Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet from a screenplay written by Joss Whedon, Alien: Resurrection has the following synopsis: The saga continues 200 years after Ripley sacrificed herself for the sake of humanity. Rosie O’Donnell (A League of Their Own) has joined the cast of And Just Like That… for Season 3, she revealed in a new Instagram post.

The note shows a photo of her script from the show’s premiere titled “Outlook Good” and the name of her character, Mary. Episode 301 will be written and directed by Michael Patrick King. Sarah Jessica Parker’s character is Carrie, so hopefully Carrie and Mary will be sharing lots of screen time.

Update: Parker revealed on the Today Show on May 7 that O’Donnell will appear in one episode and they will share no scenes.

The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has set its lineup of narrative and documentary features for its 28th edition, including Jussie Smollett’s return to acting in “The Lost Holliday,” filmmaker Christine Swanson’s latest drama “Albany Road” and the acclaimed Luther Vandross doc “Never Too Much.”

After two seasons on the “Sex and the City” revival series on Max, the streamer announced that Pittman would not reprise her character for the upcoming season, due to scheduling conflicts.

“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of ‘And Just Like That,'” a Max spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Exclusive: A fan-favorite character is leaving And Just Like That… Karen Pittman, who played Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, will not be returning for the upcoming third season of the hit Max series.

Pittman was already a series regular on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show when she was cast in And Just Like That…, originally as a recurring in Season 1; she was upped to a series regular in Season 2. Earlier this month, she also was tapped for a starring role in Forever, Netflix’s upcoming drama series reimagining Judy Blume’s novel from Mara Brock Akil.

This put Pittman in the middle of a scheduling conundrum involving three high-profile series on three major streamers filming new seasons this year within similar timeframes.

According to sources, there was every intention for Pittman to be in Season 3 of Ajlt, and Nya was written into the scripts.

Exclusive: Director Hicham Hajji (Redemption Day) is teaming up with Nkosinathi Maphumulo, aka DJ Black Coffee, on feature God Is A DJ, about the electronic music space.

Hajji describes the film as “a comedy set in the world of electronic music, with a mission to unite the world. With a minority driven cast, the film aims to bring this niche music to the world through the minorities that understand it.”

The movie will follow a young Jewish man and a Moroccan Imam “who team up to form the least likely masked DJ duo — together the two overcome their mutual suspicion to take on the Edm club circuit.”

Peacock has released a trailer for “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” which premieres on Sept. 30.

The four-part UFO docuseries sees Lovato, their friend Matthew and their sister Dallas consult with leading experts, investigate eyewitness encounters, uncover government documents and conduct tests to search for the truth about UFOs. In the trailer, Lovato explains that they already believe in extraterrestrials, calling themself a “UFO experiencer” and recounting a trip to Joshua Tree where they saw a bright light moving erratically through the sky. In “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” they aim to convince their family and friends of the same.

William Petersen was hospitalized last week due to exhaustion on the set of CBS’s upcoming series “CSI: Las Vegas,” TheWrap has learned.

The Emmy-nominated actor, who is reprising his role as Gil Grissom for the latest installment in the “CSI” franchise, became ill on set and an ambulance was called out of an abundance of caution to take Petersen to a hospital where he was then admitted, according to TMZ. The actor has since recovered and been released from the hospital.

“He was hospitalized due to extreme exhaustion due to long hours on set for the past 12 weeks,” a spokesperson for Petersen said to TheWrap Monday. Petersen’s rep noted that the incident is not related to Covid-19.

Representatives for Petersen and CBS Studios, which produces the “CSI” franchise, did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment Monday on Petersen’s hospitalization and the circumstances surrounding him...

As CBS’ revival of “CSI” is nearing a series pickup, three actors have been added to the cast. Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria and Mel Rodriguez are joining the project, which would revive the series more than 20 years after it debuted in 2000.

Though multiple outlets reported Friday that the “CSI” revival was closing in on a straight-to-series order, CBS declined to comment on its status. Original “CSI” stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox have also been rumored to appear on the revival, but that has not been confirmed.

The Anthony Zuiker and Jerry Bruckheimer series, which aired from 2000-2015, was a longtime hit for the broadcaster. Centering on the crime-solvers of the Las Vegas Crime Lab, the original cast starred William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Gary Dourdan, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, Robert David Hall, and Eric Szmanda.
