FrançoisScippa-Kohn’sDistrib Films has acquired US rights to French coming-of-age drama Block Pass (La Pampa), Antoine Chevrollier’s debut feature that first premiered at Cannes’ Critics’ Week.

Pulsar Content is handling international sales for the film that has sold some 154,000 tickets (and grossed approximately €1.1mn) since its February 5th release for local distributor Tandem.

Pulsar Content Boards Horror Title ‘Push’ Starring Alicia Sanz & Raúl Castillo – EFM

Exclusive: Pulsar Content has board worldwide sales on U.S. directorial duo Justin Powell and David Charbonier’s horror feature Push for a European Film Market rollout next month.

The deal was brokered with UTA which boarded U.S sales rights ahead of the movie’s well received premiere at the Sitges Film Festival last October.

The tense home invasion horror thriller stars Alicia Sanz as a pregnant realtor preparing for an open house at a property with a dark past.

“The Musician and The Whale,” a cinematic documentary revolving around the encounter between renowned electro musician Rone and a whale, has been boarded by Paris-sales company Pulsar Content ahead of the EFM in Berlin.

Valentin Paoli’s feature debut, “The Musician and The Whale” hails from the producers of “Ailo’s Journey.” It follows Rone, who’s best known for scoring Jacques Audiard’s “Paris, 13th District” and (La)Horde’s “Room With a View,” as he embarks on a journey to meet a whale and create music for it. Pulsar Content has unveiled a first-look image forLove Letters, Alice Douard’s debut feature about modern motherhood, starring Ella Rumpf, Monia Chokri and Noémie Lvovsky.

It is starting sales on the film at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in Paris this month.

Set in 2014 Paris after France legalised same-sex marriage, the film is about a woman whose partner is about to give birth to the couple’s first child. As she sets out to prove to authorities she will be a good mother in order to officially adopt the baby, she comes to terms with what it means to be a ‘good’ mother.

David Cronenberg’s ‘The Shrouds’ among €8.3m Eurimages funding recipients

David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds is among 32 projects to receive a share of €8.3m in Eurimages’ latest round of co-production funding.

Cronenberg’s new feature, a co-production between Canada and France, received €500,000 – the largest amount awarded in this round of funding. Vincent Cassel plays a widower who creates a device that allows you to connect with the dead. Diane Kruger and Guy Pearce also star in the thriller.

The Eurimages Project Evaluation Session of 2023 have just been announced and among the 32 supported films we have some veteran filmmakers in David Cronenberg (The Shrouds), Agnieszka Holland (The Green Border) and Kirill Serebrennikov (Disappearance aka La disparition) landing some significant coin amounts. Also grabbing some noteworthy sums of euros are filmmakers Burhan Qurbani (No Beast So Fierce), Jonathan Millet (Lives of Hamid), Nóra Lakos (I Accidentally Wrote a Book) and Scandi helmers Jeanette Nordahl (Connections) and Fanny Ovesen (Laura). Pulsar Content, XYZ Films Drop Teaser for Sitges-Bound Sci-Fi Drama ‘Tropic’ (Exclusive)

Pulsar Content and XYZ Films have dropped the teaser for “Tropic,” Edouard Salier sci-fi drama which world premiered at Fantastic Fest and will next play in competition at Sitges on Oct. 9.

Penned by Salier and Mauricio Carrasco, the film follows Lázaro and Tristán, two twin brothers and best friends who are training together for the Astronaut Academy entrance tests. One day, Tristán is contaminated with some mysterious residue which makes him monstrous physically and weakened mentally. This disaster forces Lázaro to let go of how he remembers his brother and learn to love him as he is now, in a world where there is no room for monsters.

“Tropic” stars Pablo Cobo, Louis Peres, Marta Nieto, and Marvin Dubart. It was produced by Ninon Chapuis and Jean-Michel Rey, Rezo Productions. The movie will be released in France by Rezo Films.

Peru-set biopic tells the story of Marie Reiche who fought for the preservation of Peru’s mysterious Nazca lines.

Paula Beer and Guillaume Gallienne will co-star in the upcoming English-language biopic Lady Nazca about German mathematician Maria Reiche who pioneered research into Peru’s mysterious Nazca lines in the 1940s, and then fought for their preservation throughout her life.

Paris-based sales company Pulsar Content has secured world sales on the drama and will introduce the project to the market at the European Film Market (March 1-5) next week.

Principal photography will begin in summer 2021 in Peru.
