Colonel Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is easily one of the most recognizable faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He led the Avengers and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with an open hand of direction and a clenched fist of strength. If a parent or guardian of a young Black man or woman needed an example of a comic role model, Nick Fury would no doubt be a seminal choice.
He's bold, wise, and a leader of humanity. These are the stunning members of the Marvel Comics Universe who we have been privileged to watch every month, including Black History Month in February. Indeed, a few others in Marvel come to mind. The mighty names of the comic pantheon from Marvel--Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, John Romita, Jack Kirby--knew diversity and inclusion was the key to an entire and colorful universe.

This was a Christmas treat for Hallmark Channel fans. Four The Good Witch cast members reunited at Christmas Con in New Jersey in December 2024. Catherine Bell, Catherine Disher, James Denton, and Sarah Power addressed the revival rumors that have been swirling around.
What Happened?
In July 2021, Hallmark Channel canceled the series despite its popularity. A year later, Variety reported that The Good Witch could return at some point. Since then, getting a revival back on the network has been a push and pull. Hallmark Media then shared they were done with this story.
During the 2024 Christmas Con panel, Bell admitted that she missed filming the show. She felt that the ending was abrupt. “I think we were all a bit surprised that it ended. It seemed to end a little bit sooner than I think everyone wanted. Certainly, from what you guys were telling us as well,” Bell explained, per Entertainment Now.

The hunt is on for a new wave of actors to play the X-Men in the MCU, and although there certainly seems to be potential plans to have both new and old stars of the franchise involved in the cataclysmic Avengers: Secret Wars, a new name has been thrown into the mix about one of the new faces reportedly being considered for the role of Jean Grey. Previously played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner, according to a report from Jeff Sneider, Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink could be the next in line to play the incredibly powerful character.
Naturally, this kind of rumor should be handled as some kind of wayward multiverse variant of the truth until it is confirmed or denied by Marvel Studios. It is likely to be one of many such rumors to come in the near future as the MCU gears up to welcome the...

4 months after confirming an NDA prevented him speaking up, X-Men '97 creator Beau De Mayo has finally addressed why the critically acclaimed Marvel show used King T'Chaka instead of T'Challa. The decision was met with confusion and some criticism from Marvel fans who believed Chadwick Boseman's legacy should have been honored more directly.
De Mayo has now taken to X.com to defend the decision to use T'Chaka rather than his son, after an X-Men '97 fan asked him for the thinking behind it: he responded "I don't know why Marvel had certain directors trying to spin and lie about this but we produced X-Men 97 Season 1 in early 2021. The loss of Boseman weighed heavily on the studio, as well as on me as a black man. Felt too soon to do T'Challa. Put humanity before continuity."

X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has leveled some major accusations against Marvel Studios and Disney during his time on the animated revival as well as his unrealized Blade project. DeMayo was publicly fired by Marvel Studios two weeks before X-Men '97 aired, revealing later that it was due to his "egregious behavior." The revelation came following DeMayo's statement on social media that he was fired and removed from the show's upcoming Season 2 for posting LGBTQ+-themed fan art. DeMayo previously said this was part of Disney's tactic to discredit him and would come out with his side of the story. DeMayo recently told fans that he would reveal secrets about what happened on his OnlyFans, and Variety has reported on some of the highlights from what DeMayo had to say:

"All I will say is buckle up," Hale told ComicBook when asked about the highly anticipated second X-Men '97 outing. "I can tease nothing... nothing. I'm making [it] a practice not to say a word about anything. I don't even mention I'm in something until I see the producers and the creators say something online. I just don't do it. I don't risk it. I don't want to be the one who screws the thing up," the actor said, explaining the reason for her extremely vague answer.

X-Men '97 has been through some behind-the-scenes changes since Season 1 debuted in March. However, director Emi/Emmett Yonemura says the upcoming third season is coming along nicely despite losing series creator and showrunner Beau DeMayo.
"Oh, he's lovely," Yonemura told Screen Rant when asked about new showrunner Matthew Chauncey. "I absolutely love working with him. He hasn't even been on super long, and he's already a super sweet, incredibly talented writer, so we're already having a blast over here, and I'm really excited for fans to kind of see what he helps bring to the table, because it's amazing, he's a genius."

X-Men 97 was supposed to be Beau DeMayos next big project, however he abruptly exited the project before its premiere in March 2024. At that time, DeMayo had already penned the scripts for Seasons 1 and 2. According to a recent social media post, DeMayo believes he lost his Season 2 credit on the series over sharing Gay Pride-themed fan art.
Per Deadline, the writer/creator for X-Men 97 took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his frustration with Marvel. "Above is #XMen fan-art I posted on Instagram for Gay Pride in June," he said in the post. "On June 13, Marvel sent a letter notifying me that theyd stripped my Season 2 credits due to the post. Five months after Marvel Studios suddenly fired X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo, revelations behind the scenes are finally coming out. On Thursday, DeMayo posted on his X a screenshot of a piece of art as himself as a shirtless, speedos-sporting Cyclops. DeMayo said he posted it for Pride Month back in June, and the following day, June 13th, Marvel sent him a letter saying he would be stripped of his credit on X-Men '97 Season 2. He then claimed this was part of a troubling pattern he encountered working at Marvel on X-Men '97 and Blade.

Marvel said DeMayo was fired from X-Men '97 and Blade due to an internal investigation that was said to be of an "egregious" nature. Hallmark+ will jump into the streaming battles Sept. 10 by launching the original series The Chicken Sisters and the new unscripted series Celebrations with Lacey Chabert.
Additional premieres will drop through the month, with three new installments of The Jane Mysteries starring Jodie Sweetin (Fuller House) and Stephen Huszar (Navigating Christmas), and a Love on the Danube movie trilogy featuring Nazneen Contractor (Charmed), Wes Brown (Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up), Jessica Sipos (Betty’s Bad Luck in Love), Dan Jeannotte (Sense and Sensibility), Sarah Power (Good Witch), Brendan Penny (Chesapeake Shores) and Catherine Disher (Good Witch).
Hallmark Media announced the launch of the service in July. The new platform will cost $80 a year and offer the “very best of Hallmark with new exclusive content and membership benefits program,” said President and CEO Mike Perry at the time. That price includes e-cards and “surprising gifts.”
Created for television and executive produced by Annie Mebane, The Chicken Sisters is an eight-episode family drama starring Schuyler Fisk (Sam & Kate), Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid’s Tale), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!) as the women at the heart of the restaurant rivalry. James Kot (Virgin River), Margo Martindale (Justified) narrates. It’s based on the NY Times Bestseller and Reese’s Book Club selection The Chicken Sisters.
Following the first episode, new episodes premiere every Thursday starting on September 12.
As previously reported, Celebrations with Lacey Chabert is a new aspirational series executive produced and hosted by Chabert. Known for her multitude of starring roles in Hallmark movies over the years, Chabert will bring her passion for celebrating everyday heroes to this 10-episode series. The show follows Chabert as she surprises deserving individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities with the celebration of a lifetime. Following the first episode, new episodes premiere every Thursday.
Other series planned for the service include holiday limited series Holidazed and Mistletoe Murders; the reality competition series Finding Mr. Christmas; a docu-style dating series hosted by Ashley Williams; a home renovation show hosted by Luke Macfarlane; and new movie trilogy called Groomsmen that’s inspired by the success of The Wedding Veil.

Rogue actor Lenore Zann recently praised X-Men '97 for its Emmy nomination. Prior to this, X-Men: The Animated Series director Larry Houston sang the praises of X-Men '97's cameo-based legacy in May, remarking at the time that it was fun to see his "unauthorized use of cameos fully embraced by the highly-talented X-Men '97 team," albeit now with full official clearances.
In response to a post on X from the X-Men Updates account which professed that X-Men '97 had been "nominated for [Emmys] in the Outstanding Animated Program category for Episode 5: 'Remember It,'" Zann avowed, "I've said all along it's a team effort to create an animated series as superb as [X-Men: The Animated Series] and [X-Men '97]. Congrats To Our Entire Cast And Creative Team. Onwards and upwards. Excelsior!" Before this, Zann touched upon how X-Men: The Animated Series saved lives.

X-Men '97 executive producer Brad Winderbaum teased that Marvel Studios has plans for X-Men '97 Season 2. Before this, Winderbaum conveyed that Season 3 is already in development, professing that just like X-Men: The Animated Series drafted "so heavily from Chris Claremont's work," the production team is continuing that.
In a recent interview with The Official Marvel Podcast (via ComicBookMovie.com), Winderbaum was asked if there was anything there that he thought people should keep an eye out for as they've "just finished watching it," to which he replied, "We've got big plans for the second season. I've already seen all the animatics and we're well on our way to creating something that hits the heights of the first season. I know the first season is an emotional ride; that ride continues in a very X-Men fashion in the second season."

A new concept trailer made with AI imagines what a star-studded X-Men movie in the 1990s would have looked like. It even includes some interesting casting choices for Deadpool and Wolverine ahead of those characters' upcoming film, Deadpool & Wolverine.
The video was posted to YouTube by Stryder HD. It features AI-generated footage of some characters in front of the scenery in an X-Men film from the 90s before going into a series of depictions of various actors as different Marvel characters. X-Men '97 cast members Matthew Waterson and Ross Marquand recently discussed Magneto's arc on the show and whether the character's distrust and harsh retaliation against humankind was justified. Waterson and Marquand play Magneto and Professor Charles Xavier, respectively.
Per ComicBook, the actors discussed the iconic X-Men character during an X-Men '97 panel at the 2024 Nashville Comic-Con. They compared the differing views Magneto and Professor X had regarding human nature. Waterson is supportive of Magneto's pragmatic approach, saying, "One of the things that's so much fun about these particular two characters is Charles literally can see the good in everyone because he can see to their heads. So it doesn't matter how horrendous a character is being he can see the good. And so, there's something there for him, whereas Erik, that's not Erik's skill. Above the image, DeMayo commented, "Happy [Juneteenth]! Felt right to share this piece by [Julio Figueroa.] As always, beyond flattered. X-Men '97 inspired nostalgia for the original series with an updated version of the opening sequence. Its musical composers teased that the early versions experimented with a spectrum of musical elements.
The Newton Brothers' Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart said they experimented with a variety of musical styles and instruments to compose the theme for X-Men '97's opening credits. "We explored all of it," Grush told Variety. "We were like, 'Let's use real synthesizers playing it, let's use digital synthesizers. Let's have a guitar player just rip the theme as well.' And I think it sparked a nice conversation which ended in using mostly keyboard guitar with the real guitar peeking through at specific times, which makes it super effective." Both confirmed there were eight early versions of the theme that informed the final cut.

The Disney+ animated series X-Men '97 has been a hit with fans of the superhero genre. Some have even wondered if actors Ross Marquand and Matthew Waterson, who voice Professor X and Magneto, respectively, would consider making the jump to live-action.
During an X-Men '97 panel at the 2024 Nashville Comicon via ComicBook, Marquand, and Waterson revealed which live-action roles they would like to take on. "I always say Wolverine, but I think Hugh Jackman does such a good job of that I wouldn't even touch that," Marquand said. "I wanted to play Moon Knight as well, and then Oscar Isaac knocked that out of the park. So I think I've said this before, but Omega Red who is like Russia's answer to Wolverine. He's such a badass, and he's such an untapped character. I really think that would be a lot of fun to play."
