In July 2021, Hallmark Channel canceled the series despite its popularity. A year later, Variety reported that The Good Witch could return at some point. Since then, getting a revival back on the network has been a push and pull. Hallmark Media then shared they were done with this story.

During the 2024 Christmas Con panel, Bell admitted that she missed filming the show. She felt that the ending was abrupt. “I think we were all a bit surprised that it ended. It seemed to end a little bit sooner than I think everyone wanted. Certainly, from what you guys were telling us as well,” Bell explained, per Entertainment Now.

Dan Hennessey, a veteran voice actor and children's cartoon director, has died at the age of 83, TMZ reports. According to Hennessey's family, he died Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at home in his sleep from complications associated with Parkinson's disease. The actor is best known for voicing Chief Quimby on Inspector Gadget, George Raccoon on The Raccoons, Father Bear on Little Bear, and Braveheart Lion on the 1980s Care Bears TV series. In other words, Hennessey is part of some of the most iconic '80s cartoons ever made.

X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has leveled some major accusations against Marvel Studios and Disney during his time on the animated revival as well as his unrealized Blade project. DeMayo was publicly fired by Marvel Studios two weeks before X-Men '97 aired, revealing later that it was due to his "egregious behavior." The revelation came following DeMayo's statement on social media that he was fired and removed from the show's upcoming Season 2 for posting LGBTQ+-themed fan art. DeMayo previously said this was part of Disney's tactic to discredit him and would come out with his side of the story. Hallmark Media has announced when they will officially premiere the rebranded Hallmark Movies Plus to the spectacular new Hallmark+ streaming service.

Along with the streaming channel premiere date, the network shared premiere dates for The Chicken Sisters, Celebrations With Lacey Chabert, and Love On The Danube.

They also announced premiere dates for Jodie Sweetin’s The Jane Mystery Series, and a brand new behind-the-scenes series starring Tamera Mowry-Housley called VIP Movie Pass.

On Wednesday, Deadline reported that Hallmark+ will premiere on Tuesday, September 10. The network will rebrand Hmn into the new Hallmark+.

The new streaming channel will be home to the network’s first reality series, as well as special movies and mysteries specifically made for this new service.

Hallmark+ will jump into the streaming battles Sept. 10 by launching the original series The Chicken Sisters and the new unscripted series Celebrations with Lacey Chabert.

Additional premieres will drop through the month, with three new installments of The Jane Mysteries starring Jodie Sweetin (Fuller House) and Stephen Huszar (Navigating Christmas), and a Love on the Danube movie trilogy featuring Nazneen Contractor (Charmed), Wes Brown (Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up), Jessica Sipos (Betty’s Bad Luck in Love), Dan Jeannotte (Sense and Sensibility), Sarah Power (Good Witch), Brendan Penny (Chesapeake Shores) and Catherine Disher (Good Witch).

Hallmark Media announced the launch of the service in July. The new platform will cost $80 a year and offer the “very best of Hallmark with new exclusive content and membership benefits program,” said President and CEO Mike Perry at the time. That price includes e-cards and “surprising gifts.”

Created for television and executive produced by Annie Mebane, The Chicken Sisters is an eight-episode family drama starring Schuyler Fisk (Sam & Kate), Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid’s Tale), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!) as the women at the heart of the restaurant rivalry. James Kot (Virgin River), Margo Martindale (Justified) narrates. It’s based on the NY Times Bestseller and Reese’s Book Club selection The Chicken Sisters.

Following the first episode, new episodes premiere every Thursday starting on September 12.

As previously reported, Celebrations with Lacey Chabert is a new aspirational series executive produced and hosted by Chabert. Known for her multitude of starring roles in Hallmark movies over the years, Chabert will bring her passion for celebrating everyday heroes to this 10-episode series. The show follows Chabert as she surprises deserving individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities with the celebration of a lifetime. Following the first episode, new episodes premiere every Thursday.

Other series planned for the service include holiday limited series Holidazed and Mistletoe Murders; the reality competition series Finding Mr. Christmas; a docu-style dating series hosted by Ashley Williams; a home renovation show hosted by Luke Macfarlane; and new movie trilogy called Groomsmen that’s inspired by the success of The Wedding Veil.

X-Men '97 is officially slated to introduce a whole host of fan-favorite characters in the animated series' upcoming second season.

As revealed at D23, several iconic characters from the pages of Marvel Comics are about to receive their debuts in the hotly-anticipated second season of X-Men '97. These include Polaris, Havoc, and the living embodiment of the Danger Room known as Danger. It was also reported that classic franchise villain Apocalypse will be making an appearance in Season 2 of the hit animated series.

The Newton Brothers' Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart said they experimented with a variety of musical styles and instruments to compose the theme for X-Men '97's opening credits. "We explored all of it," Grush told Variety. "We were like, 'Let's use real synthesizers playing it, let's use digital synthesizers. Let's have a guitar player just rip the theme as well.' And I think it sparked a nice conversation which ended in using mostly keyboard guitar with the real guitar peeking through at specific times, which makes it super effective." Both confirmed there were eight early versions of the theme that informed the final cut.

The Disney+ animated series X-Men '97 has been a hit with fans of the superhero genre. Some have even wondered if actors Ross Marquand and Matthew Waterson, who voice Professor X and Magneto, respectively, would consider making the jump to live-action.

During an X-Men '97 panel at the 2024 Nashville Comicon via ComicBook, Marquand, and Waterson revealed which live-action roles they would like to take on. "I always say Wolverine, but I think Hugh Jackman does such a good job of that I wouldn't even touch that," Marquand said. "I wanted to play Moon Knight as well, and then Oscar Isaac knocked that out of the park. So I think I've said this before, but Omega Red who is like Russia's answer to Wolverine.
