Attended Zion Lutheran School in Anaheim, California. While in fifth grade, he portrayed 8th-grader Samuel "Screech" Powers in the television series Bonjour, Miss Bliss (1987), which evolved into Sauvés par le gong (1989) and its various television movies and spin-offs. Also appeared in the television series Les années coup de coeur (1988).

Lost his battle with small cell carcinoma on February 1, 2021, at the age of 44. Diamond specifically outlined his post-mortem wishes that he wanted neither a public funeral nor a burial. He was cremated and his remains given to his father and his longtime girlfriend.
