Two weeks ago, Styx founder Dennis DeYoung posted a solo rendition of the band’s 1981 hit “Best of Times” onto YouTube that he recorded in his house. Much to his amazement, it quickly racked up 847,000 views and inspired him to post another song (the band’s 1990 tune “Show Me the Way”) and start his own YouTube channel. “Thank you for everything you’ve done with the ‘Best of Times’ video,” he said. “I can’t believe it. Judd Apatow's '80s-set teenage dramedy turns 15 on September 25, but it still holds up as one of the best coming-of-age TV programs of all time. The show was not only a launching pad for the careers of mega-stars like Seth Rogen and James Franco, it was a realistic snapshot of the suburban high school experience that brought us a hilariously realistic portrayal of what it means to be young, lost, and misunderstood.

Milwaukee’s Summerfest has announced its 2014 lineup, which includes some of the biggest names in pop and rock. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Outkast, Dave Matthews Band, Brad Paisley, Motley Crue, Zac Brown Band, Fall Out Boy and Paramore will all headline. What do Sam and Dean do when their best witness in a case is a big, fluffy German Shepherd named The Colonel? Well, in the past, they would have been up a creek. But, these days, they’re armed with all sorts of Men of Letters tricks so, naturally, they found a way to talk to the dog.

VH1's biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story was a big hit for the network, pleasing fans who had long been hoping for a reenactment of the trio's Behind the Music. The TV movie's producers worked hard to re-create all the iconic moments — the videos, the fire, the declarations of insolvency — and they did pretty well, on an apparent microbudget. On her way to the patio, she passes by the other cliques you typically see in high schools dramas – jocks tossing around a football, nerds with their binders in hand, and the like. She notices them, but quickly dismisses them as she heads outside (reminding us that Freaks and Geeks is not a show that operates within cliches, allowing us to reset our expectations for the stories to follow)… that is, until she passes Generic Couple Making Out in the hallway, and becomes fixated on their grope-y embrace. Chuck was the bass player and one of the founders of Styx, and he came out and announced he was living with HIV in 2001. He left the group for a few years, but now occasionally performs with his old bandmates. Okay, time to name your top five Styx songs! Here are mine: 5. "Don't Let It End," 4."Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)," 3. "Mr. Roboto," 2. "The Best Of Times," and my #1 is a bit of a cheat. It's actually the solo hit from Styx lead singer Dennis DeYoung. "Desert Moon" is one of the greatest lost gems of the 80's, and #12 on the Snicks Top 100 Of The 80's.

Rumors continue to swirl about the new slate of "American Idol" judges. While Fox hasn't revealed any news about who may be sitting in the judges' chairs now that Ellen DeGeneres has checked out and Kara DioGuardi may not be coming back, the producers say that some of the rumors are indeed correct. Meanwhile, after showing initial reticence, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler keeps talking as though he is close to scoring the gig, saying that it would not interfere with Aerosmith's touring plans and that he is fairly confident that he would make an excellent judge if given the opportunity.

If Tyler does score the job, he certainly has the endorsement of the readers of the MTV Newsroom. Yesterday, we wondered aloud whether or not Tyler would make for the best classic rock icon to serve as one of the show's new voices. In the end, the Tyler rumor...

Following Ellen DeGeneres' resignation from "American Idol" last Thursday (July 29), rumors started to swirl that fellow "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi was also on her way out and that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler would be filling in the vacant judges' chairs. Though he initially brushed off the idea when confronted with it, over the weekend he may have changed his tune. During a party in Las Vegas, he all but confirmed the idea that he was going to take the gig.

The addition of Tyler makes perfect sense, as he is a frontman who has unending charisma and a dynamic voice (and he's been doing it for over 30 years). Plus, he could offer real, genuine advice to singers looking to head more in a rock direction and could teach everybody a thing or two about putting scarves around your microphone.

But is he the best classic rock option? Check...

Jimmy Kimmel is a big "Lost" fan, so it makes perfect sense that the opening shot of his "Aloha to Lost" special following Sunday's (May 23) finale was of him watching the end of the show with his audience, several of whom were crying.

Carey will unleash her cover of Foreigner's classic 1984 ballad "I Want to Know What Love Is," one of the most iconic song of the '80s. Many will write off "I Want to Know What Love Is" as one of the schlockiest songs every written, but it's secretly brilliant. In fact, Carey should really take it a step further and record an entire album of late '70s/ early '80s ballads. She has already covered Journey's "Open Arms" (on her 1995 album Daydream), so she might as well do her own version of "Don't Stop Believing" (or "Any Way You Want It" if she's feeling cheeky). 101 Dalmatians: The Musical kicks off its nationwide tour beginning in Minneapolis this October 2009 and concluding in La in June 2010. Based on author Dodie (Dorothy) Smith's 1956 novel The One Hundred and One Dalmatians, the family-targeted musical is directed by the celebrated Jerry Zaks and features a score by singer/songwriter/musician and founding Styk band-member Dennis DeYoung and a book by writer/lyricist/director BT McNicholl (resident director Billy Elliot/Broadway). The musical, which will include a three week run in NYC at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in April 2010, will feature actors dressed as Dalmatians as well as 15 or so actual Dalmatians that will be trained by veteran animal trainer Joel Slaven (Ace Ventura Pet Detective, That Darn Cat and Rain Maker, as well as many stage shows etc). 101 Dalmatians: The Musical is produced by Magic Arts & Entertainment/Tix Productions, Troika Entertainment, and Luis Alvarez.

Can you do a walk of shame within your own home? That is the level of embarrassment I felt after watching this year’s Academy Awards. Not only did the industry give its bread and butter a solid upper deck (e.g., ignoring most movies people actually saw) but it did so in long, boring, jazz-hands style.
