'Argo' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' claim Writers Guild awards
Argo (2012)
Argo continued its domination of award season by claiming one of the last of the pre-Oscar prizes — the Writers Guild Award, where screenwriter Chris Terrio won the honor for adapted screenplay.

Terrio’s competition included Tony Kushner’s Lincoln, David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, David Magee’s Life of Pi and Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower. All but Chbosky are also up for the Oscar next weekend, with Beasts of the Southern Wild’s Lucy Alibar and Benh Zeitlin taking that slot.

Writers Guild Awards 2013: Full winners list
As we enter the home stretch to the Academy Awards, writers were celebrated Sunday. The 2012 Writers Guild Awards honored the best writing in film, television, radio, new media, and video games. "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Argo" took home the original and adapted screenplay awards, respectively. While "Breaking Bad," and "Louie" took home awards for best drama and comedy series.

Disney Channel Sets Cast Of ‘Girl Vs. Monster’ Movie
Disney Channel Original Movie Girl Vs. Monster has assembled its cast. The film stars Olivia Holt as a teen girl who on the eve of Halloween, discovers that she’s a fifth generation monster hunter but before she begin her family’s true calling, the monsters will try to stop her. Joining her in the cast are Jennifer Aspen (Gcb) and Brian Palermo (The Social Network) as the her parents, as well as Brendan Meyer (Disney Xd’s Mr. Young), Kerris Dorsey (Moneyball), Katherine McNamara (New Years Eve), Luke Benward (Disney Channel’s Minutemen), Tracy Dawson (Call Me Fitz) and Adam Chambers (Good Luck Charlie). Exclusive: Disney Channel has greenlighted its next original movie. Tentatively titled Girl Vs. Monster, it stars Olivia Holt of Disney Xd’s Kickin’ It. The project, which will be presented to advertisers at the Disney Channels Worldwide Kids Upfront tomorrow, centers on a teen girl (Holt) who, on the eve of Halloween, discovers she’s a fifth generation monster hunter. 'StarStruck' on DVD! 8 clips from the Disney release with Sterling Knight.
"StarStruck" has eight new clips. The Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment-distributed DVD sees release on April 26th and stars Sterling Knight, Danielle Campbell, Chelsea Staub, Brandon Smith, Maggie Castle, Beth Littleford and Abbie Cobb. Michael Grossman directed the family film from the teleplay by Annie DeYoung and Barbara Johns Get "StarStruck" with hunky young pop star Christopher Wilde (Sterling Knight), as he gets tangled up through a chance meeting with small-town girl Jessica Olson (Danielle Campbell), and experience their hilarious adventures set against the backdrop of Hollywood.

'Lars,' 'Diving Bell' top Humanitas honors
Paul Giamatti in John Adams (2008)
"Lars and the Real Girl" and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" edged out "Juno" to tie for top feature film honors at the 34th annual Humanitas Prize Awards, handed out Wednesday at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Lars" writer Nancy Oliver gave an emotional acceptance speech during the ceremony, which honors film and TV writing that explores the human condition. She discussed the difficulty of "trying to sell a story about loss and grief and aggravation that's a comedy."

"Diving Bell" writer Ronald Harwood was unable to make the event.

Each Humanitas award carries a cash prize, with a total of $95,000 handed out Wednesday.

In the TV categories, writers on two historical-themed HBO projects were recognized: "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," written by Daniel Giat, in the 90-minute category, and "John Adams (Part 1)," written by Kirk Ellis, in the 60-minute category. Ellis -- following remarks by a couple of...
