Ke Huy Quan Says Hugh Jackman Was the Perfect Wolverine in the 'X-Men' Movies
Image
Ke Huy Quan, the actor who returned to the spotlight in recent years because of his Academy Award-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, says why there's no doubt that Hugh Jackman is the best actor to play Wolverine. Quan, who worked as a stunt coordinator in the first X-Men movie, says Jackman was born for the role, one that he's been doing for almost 25 years.

Quan appeared on the Josh Horowitz podcast Happy Sad Confusedto promote his recently released movie, Love Hurts. Quan also spoke about how his career had a huge twist after he won the Oscar in 2024. The actor left the Hollywood spotlight after being featured in major '80s films like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and fully turned to behind-the-scenes work as a stunt coordinator and choreographer.

This is how he landed the gig for the first ever X-Men...

'Jurassic World Dominion's DeWanda Wise Could Storm Into the MCU, Rumor Claims
Image
DeWanda Wise might be taking flight again, but this time it could be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the beloved X-Men character Storm. The actress portrayed pilot Kayla Watts in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, but if the rumor mill is any indication, the MCU might have its sights set on casting Wise as the fan-favorite Mutant Ororo Munroe.

Please remember that until Marvel Studios confirms the casting report posted to X, formerly Twitter, by scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the news of Wise possibly taking up Storm’s electrifying mantle is strictly a rumor. Now, the social media post succinctly reads as follows:

DeWanda Wise is now being considered for the role of Storm in the X-Men reboot.

Halle Berry had the honor of playing Storm in the original X-Men films which started their successful run in the year 2000. Berry then reprised the role for director Bryan Singer’s immensely popular...

A Bay Films Production “Transformers One” In an on-screen career that’s now lasted for 20 years, Chris Hemsworth has done a lot of different things, from television soap operas to several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. 10 Movies That Cleverly Trick You Into Rooting for the Villain
Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Hugh Jackman in X-Men (2000)
A good movie is nothing without a great villain. The cinematic medium has introduced viewers to some of the most entertaining bad guys, such as Lord Voldemort and Hans Gruber. They provide an ample challenge for the heroes of their respective motion pictures, pushing them to their limits to triumph over their enemy.

These scheming adversaries are ridiculously fun to watch, and their charm makes moviegoers fall in love with them. They steal every scene they appear in and become the highlight of their films. Not Dwayne Johnson, I Want This 1 Celeb in Transformers-gi Joe Movie after its Insane Release Update
Image
I am still shocked by the news that my favorite childhood franchises, G.I Joe and Transformers are finally collaborating. The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts movie alluded to them being from a shared universe. Then, Paramount confirmed that they were working on a crossover film and I couldn’t be happier.

As an avid fan of both franchises, I have always imagined what it would be like for Cybertronians to team up with elite agents of G.I Joe. With Derek Connelly from Jurassic Park as the writer now, I am sure this movie will end up as an epic success. However, the inclusion of one celebrity would be the cherry on the cake, and it’s not The Rock but Michael Bay.

Transformers One Final Trailer Sees Former Friends Embrace Their Destinies As Optimus Prime And Megatron
Image
Following stellar first reviews, Paramount Pictures has released a final trailer for its animated prequel movie, Transformers One, ahead of its theatrical debut this weekend.

The story focuses on legendary foes Optimus Prime (then known as Orion Pax) and Megatron (then named D-16) before they became sworn enemies as leaders of their respective Transformer factions, the Autobots and Decepticons.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor) voices Pax, with Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals) as D-16, and the movie introduces the two then-friends as simple worker bots, unable to transform into their vehicle and weapon forms. As they assemble a group of fellow warriors to do battle against a mysterious villain, they gain the ability to become "Robots in Disguise."

"In a way, I kept thinking of it like the original Star Wars, just the very first one," director Josh Cooley said of his take on the lore during an interview with io9. "If you’re a superfan,...

Paramount & Hasbro’s ‘Transformers One’ Rolling To $30M+ Opening – Box Office Preview
Image
Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment’s Transformers One, the first animated Transformers movie in close to 40 years, looks to liven up the mid-September box office with a domestic start in the low-$30Ms with potential for upside.

Transformers One will keep the domestic box office at its excellent clip. Through the last weekend of April, the domestic B.O. stood at $2.07 billion, 20% behind 2023. Since then, through last weekend, the domestic box office has made an additional $4 billion for a running Ytd cume of $6.08 billion, now 12% behind last year.

Advance ticket sales are solid from Thursday through Saturday, ahead of last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem ($28M 3-day) and Trolls Band Together ($30M).

Josh Cooley directed what has been described for months as one of Paramount’s highest-testing animated movies. The $75M production tells the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who were buddies before becoming sworn enemies.

Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, and Brian Tyree Henry in Transformers : Le Commencement (2024)
The final Transformers One trailer conveys that the film is more than meets the eye
Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, and Brian Tyree Henry in Transformers : Le Commencement (2024)
The first teaser for Transformers One was a curveball with humor predominantly displayed, but the following trailers have displayed more than just jokes. Now, early reactions have been very positive. Including our own Chris Bumbray saying in his review, “One thing worth noting is that the audience I saw this with Really seemed to love the movie. They laughed and cheered throughout, and when it was over, the audience gave it a huge round of applause, which is something you really never get at free screenings in my neck of the woods. There’s a reason why Paramount’s been doing so many word-of-mouth screenings, as this has the potential to be a major hit, and, again, it’s the best Transformers movie ever made by a wide margin.”

Paramount Animation has now released a final trailer for Transformers One, which gives a spotlight to the bold quote from our Eic.

Transformers One Comic-Con Trailer Teases An Epic Origin Story As New Cast Members Are Revealed
Image
Paramount Pictures held a panel for Transformers One at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier today and we can now share the epic new trailer and poster for the movie.

Perhaps the biggest news to come out of Hall H is the fact Steve Buscemi will voice Starscream. Jon Hamm, meanwhile, is Sentinel Prime and Laurence Fishburne will play Alpha Trion.

The crowd also cheered when it was confirmed that Transformers One will feature no human characters. Finally!

"If we did this as a live-action movie, it would probably cost $500 million," Transformers One producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told fans. "What has been tricky in live-action is that every time a robot talks, it costs a lot of money. In animation, you can have them build out their character."

The buzz surrounding this prequel is growing increasingly more positive, something that was evident from the recent social media reactions. While there was...

X-Men Wore Black Leather Costumes in 2000 Movie Because of The Matrix, Says Kevin Feige
Image
Kevin Feige has answered a long-standing question about Marvels original X-Men movie, sharing the reason why fans did not get to see the characters in their iconic comic-accurate costumes. While the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie is about to right a wrong by giving Hugh Jackmans Wolverine his yellow and blue suit for the first time in a live-action project, it seems that his first appearance in black leather was all down to a popular Keanu Reeves movie released just before X-Mens debut in 2000.

While speaking at a special event ahead of Deadpool & Wolverines premiere, Feige addressed the reason for the redesign of the X-Mens costumes. According to the Marvel Studios boss, someone at the time decided that the huge reaction to The Matrix in 1999 was enough to warrant trying to emulate the look of that sci-fi blockbusters central characters. As per ComicBook.coms Brandon Davis, Feige explained:

Transformers One First Clip Sees Optimus Prime Lose His Head While Attempting To Transform
Image
During last night's Kids' Choice Awards, Paramount Pictures debuted the first clip from Transformers One, the upcoming animated origin story exploring the one-time friendship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

In this latest sneak peek (via SFFGazette.com), we see them and the movie's other leads attempting to transform for the first time...with hilarious results. Orion Pax, D-16, Elita, and Bumblebee are all rookies and a long way off from being the war machines we're used to seeing square off on screen.

The clip gives off major "Saturday Morning Cartoon" vibes, though that's not necessarily a bad thing (especially for fans who grew up watching the animated series).

During a recent interview, Transformers One director Josh Cooley addressed the decision to go with a CG-driven look for a franchise which has typically been presented in classic 2D animation.

"Because of where it exists in the timeline, there was no reason to have humans.

Kevin Feige Says Hugh Jackman Was Initially Considered ‘Too Tall’ to Play Wolverine: ‘They Were Desperate’
Image
The narrative around Hugh Jackman claiming the role of Wolverine in the 2000 film “X-Men” is well-known lore at this point. As the story goes, Scottish actor Dougray Scott was already cast, but Tom Cruise refused to let Scott be both the villain in “Mission: Impossible 2” and Wolverine, so Scott dropped out, forcing the team behind “X-Men” into a mad dash to find a replacement before production was set to begin. Kevin Feige, an assistant to producer Lauren Shuler Donner at the time, recently shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly some behind-the-scenes details on what went on.

“There was a scramble to get our Wolverine,” Feige said. “Lauren was very excited about this Australian guy, who had been rejected initially. In my memory, one of the main reasons was that he was too tall. Wolverine in the comics is called ‘Lil’ Fireplugs’ sometimes. He’s a short guy. But they were desperate.

“They were desperate”: Casting Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Was an Egregious Sin That Would’ve Made Comic-Book Fans Crucify Kevin Feige if Done Today
Image
Since Hugh Jackman’s debut as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men, the actor has not only become synonymous with the adamantium-clawed mutant but also a Marvel staple set to appear in Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Through his Marvel tenure, Jackman has won over audiences with his sheer commitment to his role, as well as his charisma and physicality.

However, looking back at his casting journey, it certainly hasn’t been the smoothest transition for him. Jackman was initially rejected because of his 6’3” height since his comic book character was only 5’3”. It is now believed that if Jackman had been cast as Wolverine in the modern era, Kevin Feige would have witnessed some backlash and controversy over such a drastic deviation from the comics.

Kevin Feige And Hugh Jackman Reflect On Wolverine Casting And Bringing The X-men Into The MCU
Image
It's a well-known piece of Marvel trivia that Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine in 2000's X-Men. However, a scheduling conflict meant he had to commit to Mission: Impossible 2 (at Tom Cruise's behest), leaving the door open to Hugh Jackman being picked to play Logan at the last minute.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor looked back at reading lines for director Bryan Singer and the movie's unimpressed screenwriter, Tom DeSanto.

"He's just going, 'Quiet... Quieter... Quieter.' By the end, I couldn't even hear myself," Jackman says of DeSanto. "I could tell he was like, 'Why on my lunch hour am I auditioning some guy for a part that I've already cast?' He was pissed off."

As Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige remembers it, behind the scenes, there was "a scramble to get our Wolverine." He adds, "Lauren [Shuler Donner] was very excited about this Australian guy,...

“Kevin can see through everything”: Marvel Fans Couldn’t Respect Kevin Feige More After Learning What He Did For Hugh Jackman During X-Men Days
Image
Many fans will be surprised to learn that the relationship between Kevin Feige and Hugh Jackman goes way back to the latter’s X-Men days. When Jackman came to audition for the last-minute role of Wolverine, Feige was a low-level producer’s assistant on the set. Jackman recalled Feige’s kindness to him when he felt that he had failed the audition.

The Prestige actor would go on to land the iconic role in Bryan Singer’s film. He reprised the role for eight more films, before seemingly exiting from the role in 2017 after Logan. 'I'm Not Getting the Part': Hugh Jackman Recalls First X-Men Audition for Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine is only weeks away, with Hugh Jackman set to return as Wolverine for the first time since 2017's Logan. However, there was a time when Jackman was never supposed to play the character at all, as Wolverine was supposed to be played by another actor. Jackman recently recalled the series of events that led to his casting, and how initially he thought he wouldn't get the part.

Back in 1999, Dougray Scott was set to appear as Wolverine in the first X-Men film directed by Bryan Singer, but departed the project due to scheduling conflicts. Scott was cast in Mission Impossible 2, and wasn't allowed to take both parts. This led to a hurried rush to find a replacement. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige spoke about the frenzied search for a new Wolverine, as filming had already begun on the movie. "There was a scramble to get our Wolverine,...

Transformers One Producer On Replacing Peter Cullen With Chris Hemsworth: "We Couldn't Use Peter..."
Image
There's a lot of very positive buzz surrounding Transformers One among those lucky enough to have watched it. For some, that came as a surprise after a trailer which split opinions thanks to its retro animation style.

Another divisive element of the upcoming movie is its voice cast. While Paramount Pictures has enlisted an epic roster of A-List stars, ditching longtime Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen - Thor and Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth takes over the role - has upset many fans.

Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura spoke with Variety (via Toonado.com) at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and he acknowledged the backlash while explaining the change.

"That was really important because, from a fan point of view, the original voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, is revered," he said of recasting the role. "To have somebody else voice Optimus Prime was like, 'Whoa, we better get this right.

'We Couldn't Use Peter [Cullen]': Transformers One Producer Explains Recasting Optimus Prime
Image
The upcoming movie Transformers One will serve as a prequel, diving into the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Chris Hemsworth takes on the voice role of Optimus Prime, the character previously voiced by Peter Cullen.

Per Variety, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura was at Annecy where he explained the recasting in a new interview. He acknowledged that Hemsworth had big boots to fill, as Cullen's portrayal of Optimus Prime is so "revered" by Transformers fans. However, Di Bonaventura said that recasting the role was necessary, as the voice needed to sound more youthful, given that Transformers One is a prequel. With that said, the producer also hyped the comedy that Hemsworth brought to the role.

G.I. Joe-Transformers Crossover Movie Lands ‘Jurassic World’ Writer Derek Connolly

Derek Connolly, the franchise scribe whose work includes Jurassic World movies and Detective Pikachu, has a new sandbox in which to play.

Connolly has been tapped to pen the script for Paramount’s untitled Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover action project that is to star Chris Hemsworth.

The crossover feature will bring together two of Hasbro’s biggest toy lines, Transformers and G.I. Joe. It will pit the good guys — the robots in disguise Autobots and heroic Joes — against their archenemies, the dastardly Decepticons and conniving terrorist organization Cobra. While a team-up of the two toylines has happened in comic book form (the first in a Marvel Comics title in 1987), it has never occurred on screens, big or small.

New Transformers One Posters Revealed As Surprising First Reaction Roll Out Following Annecy Screening
Image
When the first trailer for Transformers One rolled out (from outer space), the response from fans was mixed. The animation style wasn't what most expected, while Thor star Chris Hemsworth replacing iconic Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen was always going to divide opinions.

Well, a "work-in-progress" cut of the movie was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival yesterday evening and early word isn't just good, it's overwhelmingly positive.

"It is exactly what it has been described as - an origin story for how two young robots went from being besties to mortal enemies, ultimately known as Optimus Prime and Megatron," The Wrap explains. "The animation style previewed in the early trailer; a kind of painterly, 1980s lunchbox aesthetic, is very much present in the final film — all vibrant colors and shiny surfaces."

The trade describes it as "something joyful, beautifully alive," claiming applause broke out at several points in the movie,...
