If you still remember teen fantasy shows like The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale that went on for far too long, even after their stories had no steam left, but you might not remember the shows in this list, as they had so much more story to tell, but they were canceled way too soon. Teen fantasy shows were all the rage in the 2010s and that’s why there were so many of them but most of them didn’t hit as hard as The Vampire Diaries or Teen Wolf, but that doesn’t mean that the shows that were canceled were not as good or even better then these two shows. That’s the reason why we decided to compile a list of seven great (or underrated) teen fantasy shows that had great potential but were canceled way too soon.

"I had much higher hopes." Those are the words of "Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill when asked by the folks at the Alamo Drafthouse what he thought of 1995's "Village of the Damned." Hamill also noted that "The Wolf Rilla one is still the best." Indeed, Rilla's 1960 version of the story is regarded as one of the best horror movies of the '60s to this day. Unfortunately, despite the remake being put in the hands of an unquestioned horror master, it didn't have the same impact.

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons… and keep in mind that we’re only talking about movies here, not TV shows, so you won’t hear about Michiel Huisman replacing Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones, Charles Melton replacing Ross Butler on Riverdale, Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill on The Witcher, Janet Hubert being switched with Daphne Maxwell Reid as Aunt Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Nathan Parsons replacing Luke Grimes as James Kent on True Blood, Alessandra Torresani being replaced by Mae Whitman on Arrested Development, or Jeff the cab driver being recast in the final season of Better Call Saul. This is a Terminator household. First and foremost. I will argue that T2 is one of the best sequels of all time, even though I don’t feel like I have to do that because everybody knows. There is a debate in this household that Terminator is better than T2, but we don’t have time for that. We are here for The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I’m going to be honest. When I first heard about the show it was one of those things where there was so much talk about it that I was annoyed. So I put off watching it forever. “You gotta watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles, you gotta watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles…”
So I watched it.

A popular trend in the movie world in recent years is major studios remaking their fan-favorite films from decades before. Although the idea has been popularized by Disney with their live-action remakes of their classic animated features, the trend extends far beyond the one company. Throughout Hollywood, filmmakers are aiming to capitalize on the pre-existing fan bases of their original movies. Oftentimes, putting a modern spin on a beloved classic seems like a surefire way to make a hefty profit.
However, a handful of attempts have proven that success is not a guarantee. Many recent remakes, particularly of films from the 1980s, have ended up massively underwhelming their audiences. Viewers flock to theaters hoping to see an exciting new twist on their favorite stories, but sadly discover that they are merely being given something boring, unoriginal, or otherwise disappointing. Although the films that inspired them may have been quite successful,...

Even when a series lasts for a relatively short period of time, it can produce a lasting legacy that goes on years after its finale. This became the case with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which only ran for two seasons and 31 episodes from 2008-2009. The series was a spin-off of the Terminator films, picking up after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. While never a ratings hit, it did have a loyal fan base that campaigned for the show's Season 3 return before the network ultimately pulled the plug. Now, over 15 years since the series last aired, creator John Friedman is reflecting on the cancelation and whether he was satisfied with its conclusion.
During a chat with Empire, Friedman was asked if he was prepared for the show's cancelation and, even though he knew more stories could be told, the Season 2 finale was written in a way that could...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles creator Josh Friedman has reflected on the sci-fi show's cancellation 15 years later, revealing the John Connor storyline that would have happened if it was renewed for season 3. The TV show follow-up to Terminator 2: Judgement Day sees Sarah (Lena Heady) and her son John (Thomas Dekker) trying to prevent the rise of SkyNet once again, this time with the help of the Terminator Cameron (Summer Glau), who John sent back in time to protect himself. The Sarah Connor Chronicles ended on a cliffhanger, with the series getting cancelled after season 2.
Speaking with Empire, Josh Friedman reflected on how he wrote Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' season 2 finale as a definitive ending with room for more, fearing it would be cancelled at the time. If season 3 had happened, the creator said an episode would have focused on John after going into the future, meeting Allison Young,...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was the Terminator franchise's detour to the small screen, but for fans of the show, it was far too short-lived. After running for two seasons from 2008 to 2009, Fox canceled the series, this despite positive reviews and a fan campaign for a renewal.
In a new interview with Empire, series creator Josh Friedman opened up on all things Sarah Connor Chronicles. The writer, who has more recently worked on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, shared his thoughts on Fox canceling the show. Friedman explained how he knew there was a chance the series wouldn't get renewed, so Season 2 was written in a way that could potentially serve as the finale. With that said, the writer was also hoping that the show would go on, and it was saddening when it was made officially that The Sarah Connor Chronicles had been given the boot.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles Creator Josh Friedman On James Cameron, Cancer, And Cancellation
Sarah Connor was dead. Or was she? Well, yes, according to 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines – but death can’t compete with TV. It was 2006 when Josh Friedman, who had co-written Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds, was approached by Warner Bros. Television to write what would become The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A series picking up from where James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day left off, it followed Sarah (Lena Headey) and her prodigious son John (Thomas Dekker) as they, along with Cameron (Summer Glau), a protector Terminator, continued to battle Skynet and evade murderous cyborg stalkers. Launching in January 2008, it enjoyed two seasons until it was, in April 2009, abruptly… well, terminated.
Fifteen years on, we speak to Friedman about legacy, cancer, and Shirley Manson disguised as a urinal.

Indiana Jones and Freddy Krueger are two of the most popular film characters of all time...but that's not the only thing the two share in common. Stylistically speaking, Indiana and Freddy, are on opposing ends, but they do rely on the same accessory for their signature looks: a fedora hat. But could anyone confuse the two characters? Why you would think the obvious answer is "no," during a recent interview with People, Englund shared how he convinced A Nightmare on Elm Street creator Wes Craven and producer Bob Shaye not to change Freddy's headwear.
"They were trying to change the hat on me. They literally had me in a paperboy hat for 30 seconds and I felt like I was auditioning for Newsies. It was kind of silly. So I defend the fedora, which is in the original script, which is Wes' idea and concept. But they were just getting panicky at the last minute.

The CW missed a big opportunity with "The Secret Circle" as a potential replacement for "The Vampire Diaries." Consistency is key for new shows to succeed, but "The Secret Circle" faced hiatuses that hurt its momentum. With captivating visuals and exciting storylines, "The Secret Circle" had the potential to surpass "The Vampire Diaries."
The Vampire Diaries was a massive hit for The CW, but I'll never forget the network's controversial decision to cancel its best replacement. The series in question had a fantastic cast comprising well-known names and newer actors, who all came together to craft a great show. For much of the time this series was on the air, it was better than The Vampire Diaries. Both shows had many of the same people working behind the scenes, so it felt like The CW wanted to replicate the popularity of The Vampire Diaries.
It's a shame it didn't get a big enough chance.

A new episode of the Awfully Good Horror Movies video series has just been released, and with this one we’ve decided to take a look at one of the most unpopular entries in one of the horror genre’s biggest franchises. It’s the 2010 A Nightmare on Elm Street remake (watch it Here), a.k.a. The One Without Robert Englund, and you can hear all about it in the video embedded above.
Directed by Samuel Bayer from a screenplay by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer, the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake has the following synopsis: Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man, Freddy Krueger, terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. But when...

To say the Terminator timeline is pretty confusing at this point would be an understatement. The franchise, created with the release of James Cameron's seminal 1984 effort "The Terminator," has since been softly rebooted, retconned, and generally mishandled by successive generations of studios and filmmakers. So twisted is the saga's internal timeline that watching the "Terminator" movies in any kind of coherent order has become a challenge not unlike trying to destroy the T-800 himself.
Prior to the release of 2019's "Terminator: Dark Fate," things seemed to be looking up. With the help of James Cameron on producing duties, director Tim Miller decided to forget the three lackluster films that followed the modern classic that is 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" and simply pick up where that stellar entry in the franchise left off. Unfortunately, when "Dark Fate" debuted we were treated to yet another generic action blockbuster that put...

The Terminator franchise has had a rough go at it the past few years, often getting muddied down by Hollywood trends that attempt to hijack the film series and conform it to its rebooted image. But to this day, nothing beats the original James Cameron films, and in the age of A.I. we live in now, Terminator feels as relevant as ever. But one character in the franchise stands above the rest, constantly battling the future while holding tightly to the past. No, we're not talking about Sarah Connor. We're talking about her son, John Connor, who was prophesied to be the leader of the human resistance against Skynet in the eventual Future War. But while we've seen plenty of actors tackle the John Connor character since Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it's his time on television, played by Thomas Dekker, that stands out as the most memorable.

John Connor's absence in the past impacts his future, as he is no longer the resistance leader — at least not yet. Sarah Connor chooses to stay in the present to thwart Skynet's creation. Weaver reveals her true purpose as the mother of John Henry, an A.I. created to combat Skynet.
Set shortly after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was canceled after just two seasons, leaving the series unfinished and with a cliffhanger ending. While it's not entirely clear what was going to happen next in Terminator: Tscc, the science-fiction drama show teased a few possibilities in what became its series finale. Penned by Josh Friedman, who'd go on to co-write 2019's Terminator: Dark Fate, the 31-episode spinoff show aired from 2008 to 2009, and starred Game of Thrones' Lena Headey as Sarah Connor — the Terminator protagonist first portrayed by Linda Hamilton in 1984.

Bryan Fuller, the creator of shows including “Hannibal” and “American Gods,” was accused in a lawsuit on Wednesday of sexually harassing a fellow producer on an AMC docuseries about queer horror.
Fuller is accused of making constant references to masturbation, engaging in casual bullying, and creating a hostile work environment. The plaintiff, Sam Wineman, alleges that Fuller also repeatedly held him from behind to “crack his back,” during which he would press his penis against Wineman’s buttocks.
Fuller and Wineman are both gay. They worked together on the series “Queer for Fear: The History of Queer Horror,” a four-part docuseries that was released on AMC’s Shudder streaming service in 2022.
Wineman alleges that he was removed from the project in August 2021, about four weeks after complaining about Fuller’s conduct.

To keep things in theme, we’re closing out the month with a look at Joshua Grannel‘s (aka drag queen Peaches Christ‘s) 2010 horror comedy All About Evil, which is currently streaming on Shudder!
All About Evil sees an unhinged theatre owner named Deborah (Natasha Lyonne) begin making snuff films and screening them at her decrepit San Francisco theater — presenting them as fictional works — in order to prevent the theater from going bankrupt. Unfortunately for Deborah, her biggest fan (Thomas Dekker) catches on to her scheme and tries to stop her before her antics get his mother (Cassandra Peterson) killed.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles writer Zack Stentz recently shared that the last Writers Guild of America strike indirectly led to the cancellation of the science fiction television series.
In a Twitter thread dedicated to debunking myths about the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America and sharing what really happened to many scripted shows at that time, Stentz commented, "The Sarah Connor Chronicles had our season cut short and lost half our ratings because of our extra long hiatus. We never really recovered." After a fan asked if he could share what the original plan for Season 1 was before the WGA strike happened, Stentz wrote, "It was still in the early planning stages but some of the ideas being batted around included a multiple-episode arc of Cameron having technical issues while perhaps Sarkissian pursued the Connors, Anton Chigurh-style."

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds."With a record number of regular appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Picard, Worf, Son of Mogh (Michael Dorn), has no shortage of great episodes to choose from. He was first intended as a minor character who would signify to audiences that the United Federation of Planets had finally set aside their differences with the Klingon Empire. However, when the Tng production team realized how much screen presence Michael Dorn had, they decided to expand his role further.
Worf's Tng status grew when Denise Crosby departed the role of Lieutenant Tasha Yar. Worf succeeded Tasha as the USS Enteprise-d's Security Chief and become a bona fide fan-favorite. So popular was Worf that he was brought into DS9 in order to boost the profile of the spinoff series. DS...

Warning: Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 3 - "Seventeen Seconds"Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds," answers a lingering question from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's finale about what happened to Odo (Rene Auberjonois), DS9's heroic Changeling. Star Trek: Picard season 3's third episode concluded with a dual reveal that the story's villains are Changelings from DS9's Dominion. But it was the B story of Worf (Michael Dorn) and Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) interrogating a Changeling named Titus Rikka (Thomas Dekker) that yielded a big reveal about Odo.
Constable Odo was a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series regular for all seven seasons. A shapeshifter who was isolated from his people, Odo became the Chief of Security of Deep Space Nine, first working for the Cardassians and then for the Bajoran Militia and Starfleet. A stern believer in justice, Odo was a deeply complicated and emotionally torn individual.

Warning: Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 3 - "Seventeen Seconds"Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds," ended with the bombshell that the Changelings from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine are back, but the first three episodes of Picard dropped numerous clues building to the reveal. Picard executive producer Terry Matalas promised season 3 would also serve as a sequel to DS9 and deal with the aftermath of the Dominion War. The Changelings emerging as the saga's villains not only deliver on that promise, but they were hiding in plain sight all along.
The investigation by Worf (Michael Dorn) and Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) on M'Talas Prime yielded information on the Changelings that no one on the USS Titan-a is aware of thus far. Worf entered the picture because he was contacted by Odo (Rene Auberjonois) who warned him a rogue faction of Changelings couldn't accept losing the Dominion War...

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds."Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds" introduced the perfect antagonists for the upcoming Star Trek series based on Starfleet Intelligence's black-ops group Section 31. A Section 31 show has been in development for a considerable amount of time but is yet to materialize on-screen. Aside from Michelle Yeoh leading Section 31 as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, information is thin but the post-Dominion War 25th century explored in Picard season 3 now feels like the most appropriate setting.
The Dominion War in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was when Section 31 committed their greatest crime - the attempted genocide of the Changelings. As revealed in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 3, a rogue schism of the Founders are now plotting an act of deadly revenge against Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets. As Captain Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) is assumed command of the Titan, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) comes to terms with Dr. Beverly Crusher's (Gates McFadden) decision to conceal his son's identity.
When the Titan's Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) is seriously wounded, he asks Jack how the Shrike was able to continue tracking the Titan through the nebula. Little Dixie is a thriller movie directed by John Swab starring Frank Grillo. With Eric Dane and Annabeth Gish.
Frank Grillo impersonates a man that navigates between two seas and between borders, a classic anti-hero who due to the circumstances has to become a hero to save his daughter, Little Dixie, whom the movie is named after.
This is a movie of black and white contrasts with grey areas in which everything happens in dark tones with even darker characters. This film which has its source in the construction of classic cinema to, in a authentic and brutal style, destroy and separate itself from its genre.
In this film, the director, John Swab knows how to impose his own style.

"Don't look so shocked. Naive doesn't look good one you." Paramount Movies has unveiled an official trailer for an action crime thriller titled Little Dixie, another of these useless direct-to-video action / crime films they're churning out way too often these days. Ex-Special Forces Operative Doc facilitates a fragile truce between the Governor and Cartel, trading prosecutorial leniency for finance. With no more truce, Doc is left to fend for himself and protect the one untainted thing in his life: his daughter, Little Dixie. So uh, does that sound interesting to anyone? The film stars Frank Grillo, Eric Dane, Beau Knapp, Annabeth Gish, Peter Greene, Thomas Dekker, Mercedes Mason, and Maurice Compte. Yeah this definitely looks as forgettable as it sounds. As much as I used to enjoy Frank Grillo, he is now doing way too many of these boring action flicks and always playing the same character over and over.

With the majority of prestige television being released on streaming services and cable networks with no content restrictions, nudity from famous actors and actresses has become commonplace. To many, it is no longer shocking to see their favorite stars strip down on screen. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be daunting for the performers themselves.
Diane Kruger, who stars in the new television remake of “Swimming with Sharks” on the Roku Channel, recently opened up about her experience filming nude scenes on the show. In an interview with Insider, Kruger said she was extremely hesitant about doing nudity. Thomas Dekker has been acting since he was six years old. Now 34, he’s best known for playing Zach on “Heroes” and John Connor on the short-lived “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

While Fuller didn’t mention Dekker by name, he talked about a gay actor on the show whose character was also gay until the actor’s team insisted he be straight. It didn’t take long for people to figure out who he was referring to.
Dekker responded by acknowledging he was gay in an open letter he posted on Twitter.
Looking back, Dekker insists he has no hard feelings toward Fuller. “Everyone has their journey and I hated that mine was taken away from me in a way,” Dekker tells me during a...
