Ten 80s Horror Movies About Rock Bands
By Erin Lashley, MoreHorror.com

In the 80s, rock music and horror movies went together like acid washed jeans and feathered hair. The trouble is, even though many horror movies had awesome rock soundtracks, the movies that specifically featured rock musician characters as heroes or villains varied wildly in quality. Although the rock horror movie has mostly gone the way of the 80s, I’m not sure any other type of music will ever have such a successful love affair with horror. I can’t picture people turning up for a movie called Pop Divas of the Apocalypse, or Death by Dubstep, or even Bloody Pit of Techno Bastards. But what do I know? I’m still stuck in the 80s. Here are 10 of the movies that are stuck with me.

Rocktober Blood (1984)

Billy (Tray Loren) is a rock star, and also kind of an a-hole, so nobody is real...

Ja Rule, Rob Van Dam, and Dave Bautista in Banlieue interdite (2010)
Disc Covering: "Wrong Side of Town," A Match Made in Dtv Heaven
Ja Rule, Rob Van Dam, and Dave Bautista in Banlieue interdite (2010)
Wrestlers and Dtv movies are made for each other (I've covered one such pairing in this column before). Most of these straight-to-dvd movies are just schlock action soap operas, and what is wrestling if not schlock action soap operas in front of a live studio audience? Even if they don't have much acting experience, wrestlers already have all the other necessary prereqs: lots of practice in front of the camera, the ability to do their own stunts, and built-in believability as ass kickers. Take a guy like Dave Bautista, former WWE Heavyweight Champion and the top-billed actor in "Wrong Side of Town." Do I want to see him in "Death of a Salesman?" No. Can he handle a story about two former Navy Seals trying to survive after a bounty is placed on their heads? Absolutely.

Now that I think about it, I kind of do want to see Bautista's "Death of a Salesman.

The Wrong Side of Town Trailer Features Rappers, Extra Cheese
The first thought that popped into my peanut-shaped head after watching the trailer for director David DeFalco’s upcoming action extravangaza “Wrong Side of Town” was, and I quote, “When did someone resurrect Pm Entertainment and why wasn’t I notified?” The film, which stars Dave Batista, Ja Rule, and Stormy Daniels, looks like it’s arrived on the scene twenty years too late to qualify for relevance. Still, as someone who shamelessly enjoys the work of both Gary Daniels and Don “The Dragon” Wilson, the film looks like it should supply plenty of time-wasting entertainment without the use of too many brain cells. Of course, it may destroy several more in the process, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Besides, it’s not like I have anything else to blow them on. Here’s the lowdown on the specifics: In order to save his kidnapped daughter,...

Sandra Peabody in La Dernière Maison sur la gauche (1972)
DeFalco going 'Nowhere' fast
Sandra Peabody in La Dernière Maison sur la gauche (1972)
Writer-director David DeFalco is about to begin shooting "The House in the Middle of Nowhere," a horror film inspired by the 1972 Wes Craven classic The Last House on the Left. Although not a remake of the Craven film, the new film will employ two cast members from the Craven film: David Hess, who played Krug Stillo in 1972, returns as a racist sheriff, and Marc Sheffler, who played Junior Stillo in Left, will produce the new film along with Steven J. Bernheim. Kevin Gage (Blow) has been cast as the lead convict, and other cast members include Sage Stallone (Daylight), Deborah Lacey (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Chantal Berry.
