He was motivated to make Johnny Go Home: End of the Line/The Murder of Billy Two-Tone (1975), a documentary about homeless children living on the streets of London who were led into a life of theft and prostitution, when he stumbled over boys sleeping in the doorway of an editing suite after working late on an Alan Whicker programme.
