Trivia
In 1953 DeRoy, who was in the Army reserves, was put on active duty and posted to the army film studio in Astoria, New York, where he was in a unit that made training films. Among the other soldiers in his unit were future producer Martin Starger and future novelist/writer Ira Levin.
