Thalma De Freitas is a Brazilian actress + singer + songwriter

Thalma was born into a home filled with music and creativity, as the daughter of pianist, arranger, composer and conductor Laercio De Freitas. Access to such a musical upbringing proved to be instrumental in shaping De Frietas's ear at an early age. Her own professional career began in musical theatre with the Brazilian production of "Hair" in 1992, directed by Jorge Fernando. Fernando was also pivotal in Thalma's television career, casting her in her first television show in 1996 entitled Vira Lata, on Rede Globo. In 2000 Thalma became a national star with a brilliant performance as Zilda in " Laços De Familia ". De Freitas has gone on to perform in 17 Brazilian television shows and becoming one of Rede Globo's most beloved actresses, especially important at a time with very few visible Black Brazilian Actress's. De Freitas performed in tree films: The Xango from Baker Street by Miguel Faria Jr. " Jardim Beleléu" by Ari Cândido Fernandes and "Filhas do Vento" directed by Joel Zito Araújo, for this last she was awarded the Best Supporting Actress in the Gramado Festival in 2005.
