Trivia

Stringer Davis

Edit
  • Collaborated on 27 television and cinema productions with Margaret Rutherford, as well as stage appearances together.
  • Stringer Davis was married to Margaret Rutherford, an actress who portrayed Miss Marple in several Agatha Christie movies from 1961 to 1965. Mr. Davis almost always played a character they called "Mr. Stringer." Mr. Stringer was not really a character in any of Agatha Christie's novels, but he was written in as a favor to Ms. Rutherford.
  • Gentle-mannered English character player in small parts. He played 'Mr. Stringer' opposite his wife, Margaret Rutherford, in her cinema outings as the Agatha Christie character 'Miss Jane Marple'. Appeared in other Rutherford films as well.
  • He passed away only 15 months after his wife, Margaret Rutherford.
  • Confessed to his wife, Dame Margaret Rutherford, that he was hopelessly infatuated with Sir John Gielgud. Apparently the infatuation was unrequited.
