Bart Davis

Edit

Biography

    • Born in New York City, Bart Davis grew up in the Bronx, graduating from the Bronx High School of Science in 1967. He received a BA in English in 1971 and a Masters of Social Work (MSW) in 1976 from Stony Brook University.

Bart Davis is the author of ten novels, five nonfiction books, two feature films, and a wide range of print articles. Bart's books have been published internationally and translated into Japanese, Italian, Chinese, Norwegian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, German, Dutch, Portuguese, British, Spanish, and Korean. His novels include the five-book Peter MacKenzie series and the best-selling "A Conspiracy of Eagles." His tenth novel, "The Midnight Partner," was a Literary Guild Alternate Selection and a Doubleday Book Club selection.

Bart's screen-writing credits include the feature film Full Fathom Five (1990), adapted from his novel of the same name; and the feature film L'amour ou l'argent ? (1990), which he co-wrote and associate produced. Bart has also written for the New York Times and Newsday, and his work has appeared in Psychology Today and People magazine.

His nonfiction works include "Closure: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Recovery Mission," written with Port Authority Police Department Lieutenant William Keegan Jr.; and "The Woman Who Can't Forget: The Extraordinary Story of Living with the Most Remarkable Memory Known to Science" with Jill Price. It became one of Barnes and Noble's Best Books of 2008.

In 2014, Bart co-authored "Black and White: The Way I See It," the autobiography of Richard Williams, father and coach of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams. Kirkus Review called it "inspiring and tough-minded...above all a celebration of one man's resilient, unorthodox spirit. Upfront and unapologetic." The Chicago Tribune's review read: "Williams...makes a notable contribution to one of America's greatest literary traditions: [He] has crafted an African-American autobiography worthy of his authorial ancestors."

Bart has also produced jazz concerts in Europe, presenting the legendary Herbie Mann during Midem 2003 in Cannes, France, as well as Marcus Johnson and the Prix Victoire winners. He also produced the Opening Night Concert of the 2003 Cannes Film Festival.

Bart lives with his family in New York and France.
