Born in Fortune Harbour, Newfoundland in 1927. Austin was educated at St. Bonaventure's College, Laval University and Waterloo University. He appeared in almost every movie made in Newfoundland and Labrador. He was a great orator, storyteller and life enthusiast. He was given the Order of Canada for his contributions to the Arts, The 125th Anniversary Medal and the Queens Jubilee Medal for his volunteer activities. Austin died January 4th, 2009.
