Marc Davis in Redefining the Line: The Making of One Hundred and One Dalmatians (2008)

Trivia

Marc Davis

Edit
  • Animator who created Bambi, Tinker Bell and Cruella De Vil, for Walt Disney Studios. He is still considered one of Disney's greatest animators.
  • Employed at Walt Disney Productions from December 2, 1935 until his retirement in 1978.
  • Named a Disney Legend in 1989.
  • His final work at Disney was animating villainess Cruella De Ville in Les 101 Dalmatiens (1961). He animated the entire character himself as opposed to previous films where he would be responsible for a group of animators. The character is often considered to be his masterpiece.
  • Was part of the inner circle of Disney animators, known as "the nine old men". The other members were Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Milt Kahl, Eric Larson, Wolfgang Reitherman, Ward Kimball, John Lounsbery and Les Clark.
  • Animated Tinker Bell's scenes in Peter Pan (1953).
