- As a youngster Paul lived at 51 North Street, South Bank near Middlesborough. He had a baby brother who died of Blue Baby Syndrome. Another brother, Trevor is a musician and organist. Their father was Handel Newton Daniel and when he went to register Paul's birth the registrar added an s so changing the family's name to Daniels. - On New Year's Day 2012 he accidentally cut off his left index finger and the tip of his ring finger as he was using a circular saw to build a prop for his stage show. Since he was the only person in the house (his wife was at a radio interview) he drove himself to hospital where the index finger was successfully reattached.
