Didi Danquart was born in 1955 Singen, Germany and studied Psychology and Sociology in Freiberg. He began filming in his university years, making several experimental movies and documentaries. He has been awarded twice by the German Film Critics' Association for Best Documentary, in 1983 and 1991. In 2002, he set up the production company Noirfilm. Danquart has worked extensively for television. His first feature film Lévi, le youpin (1999) premiered in 1999 at the Berlin Film Festival, his second feature film Offset (2006) at the Rome Film Festival.
