Mark York, the actor who memorably played wheelchair user Billy Merchant on The Office, has died at the age of 55.

York passed away on May 19 after a brief and unexpected illness, according to a local obituary. A paraplegic since 1988, York grew up in Ohio, but went to California to pursue a career in the film and TV industry.

“The Office” officially moved from Netflix to Peacock on Jan. 1, and the NBC streaming service celebrated the debut by posting a never-before-seen cold open from the series on Twitter. In the clip, Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinski) prank Dwight (Rainn Wilson), who believes he’s entered the Matrix.

The clip starts off innocently enough — Dwight is working at his desk when he notices a black cat run across the floor at the Dunder Mifflin office. A few seconds later, a second black cat runs across the floor. Dwight’s desktop screen is then taken over by an unknown user, who prompts, “Have you ever felt that something was not right in the world?”
