Trivia

Stefan Danailov

Edit
  • Minister of Culture of Republic of Bulgaria since August 17, 2005 until July 2009.
  • Bulgarian Socialist Party candidate for vice-president of Bulgaria during the presidential elections campaign in 2011.
  • Unlike many fellow Bulgarian actors, Stefan Danailov never changed his political affiliation. He remained an active member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party until the end of his life.
  • Although in frail health, in 2019 he performed several times on stage in Peter Quilter's The Actress. His very last performance was in Varna on 9 September 2019. After the performance he received a standing ovation from the audience.
  • On 27 October 2022, the Municipal Council of the Bulgarian Capital, Sofia, took a decision to name a Garden in the Lozenets Quarter after him, "Prof. Stefan Danailov". The proposal for this decision came from an Initiative Committee, consisting of 70 colleagues and students of Stefan Danailov and was approved unanimously.
