Georgi Hristov Danailov was born on January 1, 1936 in Sofia. He is a descendant of a famous family. He is grandson of Academic Professor Georgi Todorov Danailov . In 1950, his family was interned to Svishtov. He graduated high school in Pleven (1953), Chemistry and Physics at Sofia University (1958) as Master of Chemistry. He was a Chemistry teacher and chief of factory laboratory in Svishtov. In 1963-76 he was an assistant at the Department of organic and general chemistry at the Chemistry Institute, Sofia. He is an author of scientific papers on issues of chemistry, published in Bulgaria and abroad. The premiere of his first play was in 1975. Playwright, novelist and scriptwriter, Danailov is one of the most prolific and popular Bulgarian artists. Plays and scenarios contemporary topic refer to so- called "Dramaturgy of everyday life". Too often a reason for writing the work is actual event by which the author makes a significant social generalization. The development of action usually explores the psychological and social patterns of behavior of the characters. These peculiar "outsiders" are not heroes in the classic sense. But they defend their truth, and fought with the weapon of intellect, biting remark, irony, humor. The success of the Danailov's plays is determined by his ability to build a light, lively, witty dialogue and a dynamic story line combines realistic and satirical comedy-elements in building images. Interest Georgi Danailov to personal motivations for action remains unchanged and in his historical plays, built on documentary basis. Play "Mr. Balkanski" and the book "To Chicago and Back - one hundred years later" it revealed a keen researcher of sustainable features of national psychology, combining sharp criticism of the observer with the author's self-irony. Danailov creates scripts for the films "Children play out," "If anyone," "Surgeons", "Carnival", "Where are you traveling?", "Which Way Now" (the co-writer with the director Rangel Vulchanov) "The Camp" (co-writer with the director Georgi Djulgerov). His books and plays have been translated into Armenian, Russian, German, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, and Czech. Danailov's plays have been staged in Moscow, Leningrad, Ceske Budejovice, Brno, Bratislava, Warsaw, Tbilisi, and Yerevan. He is a winner of international awards for film, literature and theater. In 1997 he won the international contest "Rousseau" in Paris of 566 candidates from 30 countries. He is a Honorary citizen of Svishtov - significant achievements that are an essential contribution to the city and the Republic of Bulgaria.
