“It Makes the Most Sense”: ‘Will Trent’s Ramón Rodriguez Reveals the One Thing Fans Can Expect From Season 4
Image
We’re only a few weeks removed from the Will Trent Season 3 finale, and the show’s star is already pulling back the curtain on what to expect in Season 4. Will Trent was renewed for a fourth season roughly halfway through Season 3, and ABC confirmed not long ago that it plans to debut the next season before the end of the year. Starring in the lead role of Will Trent in the hit drama series is Ramón Rodriguez, known for his work in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Battle Los Angeles, and Need for Speed. Rodriguez directed the Season 3 premiere earlier this year, and during a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he was asked if he has any plans to continue directing on the show.

"I will definitely be directing at least one episode next season. It makes the most sense for me to direct the premiere as I did this past season.

'Will Trent' Is More Popular Than Ever in Season 3
Image
A delightfully heartwarming police procedural, ABC's Will Trent premiered in 2023 and was developed for TV by Liz Heldens and Daniel Thomsen, based on the novel series by Karin Slaughter. With a focus on the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (Gbi) and the Atlanta Police Department (Apd), it quickly garnered fans and proved to be a step above similar shows on the air.

Not entirely episodic, Will Trent usually focuses on two separate cases at a time with the Gbi and Apd, though they sometimes overlap and spread across multiple episodes. Because the stories are often ongoing, viewers are that much more invested in the show, because when one puzzle is solved, there is always another waiting. Coupling that with the ever-changing personal lives of the cast, Will Trent has had audiences gripped from the very beginning. Unlike many other shows, though, it's only gained in popularity, with its third season averaging...

Did you spot Bruce Willis' uncredited cameo in The Orville?
Image
It's not surprising that a show created by Seth MacFarlane would feature big name stars, and his Star Trek homage The Orville is certainly packed with celebrity appearances, from Charlize Theron to Ted Danson. But there’s a huge Hollywood star whose cameo in the second season may have passed you by.

In the seventh episode of season 2, "Deflectors," an envoy from the planet Moclus comes aboard the Orville to escort one of their top engineers, Locar (Kevin Daniels), who is there to help the ship's engineering team upgrade its deflectors. This makes things awkward for the Orville crew member Bortus (Peter Macon), another Moclan and Locar's ex.

And Bortus isn’t the only crew member having troubles with failed love affairs. Having ended a relationship with on-board teacher Cassius (Chris Johnson) at the start of the episode, First Commander Kelly Grayson (Adrienne Palicki) finds herself the recipient of a...

Fraiser Season 2 Finale Review: Revival's Storytelling Shift Is A Risk That Has An Emotional Pay-Off
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Frasier season 2 finale.

The Frasier revival's season 2 finale wraps up a slightly improved sophomore year by sticking to its signature storytelling approach. It's no secret that when the Paramount+ reboot of the beloved sitcom was announced, it was met with a divisive response considering the risks of bringing it back. It didn't help that the majority of its original ensemble isn't involved, including David Hyde Pierce's Niles and Jane Leeves' Daphne. The Frasier season 1 finale effectively addressed the show's premise, which was about Frasier reconnecting with his son, Freddy. However, Paramount+ deemed that the series deserved at least another year.

'I Just Don't Think It Would Feel Right': Og Frasier Star Explains Turning Down the Reboot
Image
While the Frasier reboot is slowly but surely bringing back some familiar faces from the original show, one actor casts doubt on a potential appearance in the updated sitcom. Og series actor Wendie Malick believes it wouldn't "feel right" to feature without one of its most beloved stars.

Speaking with TV Insider, Malick, who played the late John Mahoney's on-screen love interest throughout the original Frasier's 11-season run, admits her connection with him makes it hard to consider a return. "Its sort of like when people ask me about Just Shoot Me. Without George Segal, I just dont think it would feel right. I had such a connection to John Mahoney playing his love interest and finally marrying him that Im not sure that I want to revisit that," Malicl said.

Kelsey Grammer Reveals How Long He Wants to Keep Playing Frasier
Image
Frasier star Kelsey Grammer insists he hasn't had enough of playing the eponymous talk show host-turned-teacher just yet. The Emmy-winning actor wants to keep playing Frasier Crane for "another 100 episodes" as he sees great potential in the ongoing reboot series.

Kelsey Grammer Reveals How He Wants Frasier to End
Image
Having played Dr. Frasier Crane since the '80s, Kelsey Grammer knows his time as one of the biggest sitcom characters in history is closer to ending. The long-time Frasier star gets philosophical as he pictures how he wants the curtains to close on his ongoing reboot.

Speaking with the New York Times, Grammer laid out his vision for ending Frasier, which is in Season 2 of its second run following a decorated 11-year stint between 1993 and 2004. The Emmy-winning actor cited a famous poem by Alfred Tennyson, believing his central character must have "a place to go" when it's all said and done. "In the last show, I want to quote Tennyson, 'Ulysses': 'To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.' Thats the way I want it to end, with a sense that there is still a beginning, an unknown, a place to go," Grammer said.

Kelsey Grammer Reveals Why Frasier Had To Return to This Familiar Setting in Season 2
Image
The Frasier reboot is back with its second season on Paramount Plus. Later this season, viewers will see Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) return to Seattle, where the original series was set. For those who haven't kept up with Frasier following the original show's conclusion, the iconic television character now resides in Boston, where his character was first introduced during Cheers' third season. Frasier's visit to his native Seattle, which occurs in the October 31 episode "Thank You, Dr. Crane," paves the way for Peri Gilpin's Roz Doyle to have a more prominent role in the reboot. Now, while speaking with Parade Magazine, Frasier star and executive producer Grammer shared why the revival needed to return to this familiar setting:

"It has something to do with getting Roz to Boston because we had to have a reason for her to come back. An organic, good reason for her to come back,...

Kelsey Grammer Reveals Why Roz Is Partly Responsible for the Frasier Reboot's Seattle Return
Image
The Frasier reboot sees Dr. Frasier Crane return to the city and the radio station that made him famous, as the radio psychiatrist-turned-professor goes back to Seattle and Kacl 780 late in Season 2. Aside from reacquainting with his former stomping grounds and ex-colleagues, Frasier's return stems, in part, from an underlying story thread including his close friend, Roz Doyle.

Box Office: ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Climbs to No. 1 With $58 Million Debut
Image
Updated: Primates ruled over the North American box office, as “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” collected $58.5 million in its first weekend of release.

That’s ahead of Sunday’s estimates of $56.8 million and enough to score the third-best opening of the year behind “Dune: Part Two” ($82 million) and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” ($80 million).

Inaugural sales for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” landed above early projections of $50 million to $55 million and towered over the nonexistent competition. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” opened roughly even with two of the three prior installments in the rebooted franchise, landing behind only 2014’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (a series-best $72 million) and ahead of 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes” ($56.2 million) and 2011’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” ($54.8 million).

Jamie Foxx Hit with One of HIs Worst Rotten Tomatoes Scores for New Parody Movie
Image
Despite top talent like Jamie Foxx and Mickey Rourke, Not Another Church Movie received one of their worst Rotten Tomatoes scores. The parody film attempts to mock Tyler Perry's Madea series with a lead character named Taylor Pherry, played by Kevin Daniels. The movie has been criticized for being lazy and cheap, with many audience reviews slamming it and giving it a low approval rating.

Not Another Church Movie may have some top talent, including Jamie Foxx and Mickey Rourke, but the film has landed both of them one of the worst Rotten Tomatoes scores of their careers. In fact, the parody movie initially debuted with a 0% score from the five critics who even bothered to review it, and only its sixth review pulled that up to 17%.

Directed by Johnny Mack, with James Michael Cummings co-directing, the film attempts to deliver a parody of Tyler Perrys Madea series, including...

Kevin Daniels on What Tyler Perry Might Think of ‘Not Another Church Movie:’ “I Hope He Gets the Joke”
Image
When Kevin Daniels got a call from his agent’s mom that she’d pitched him for the lead role in a film she was producing, it didn’t take much for him to say “yes.”

“We had a zoom meeting and we kind of laughed and told some jokes and they were like, ‘Hey, you want to come down to Savannah?’ and I was like, ‘I like Savannah. That sounds nice,’” Daniels tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The film was Not Another Church Movie, a spoof comedy of Tyler Perry’s Madea series, written, directed and produced by Johnny Mack (Real Husbands of Hollywood), which is set to hit theaters on May 10. In it, Daniels, stars as the hardworking Taylor Pherry, a man given a mission directly from God (Jamie Foxx) to write a story about his dysfunctional family to save billionaire talk show host Hoprah Windfall’s plummeting TV ratings.

‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Looks To Evolve Summer With $130M+ Global Opening – Box Office Preview
Image
The first Planet of the Apes movie under the Disney regime after absorbing Fox hits theaters this weekend with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes poised to do $50M+ domestic, and $130M WW.

After the dull opening of Universal’s Fall Guy, Jesus, God, Saint Mary and Joseph, let’s hope those projections stay steady. Apes plans to pull in the under 35 guy demo in a way that Fall Guy did not. Presales stateside of around $3.1M, in line with what was the 3-day of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning ($54.6M), indicate a $50M-plus debut. That start in U.S./Canada isn’t far from the $56.2M opening of Matt Reeves’ 2017 movie, War of the Planet of the Apes, and that would be considered solid. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ has the advantage that it’s opening at a time with less competition than War of the Planet of the Apes.

Actors ‘See the End in Sight’ as SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP Resume Talks

The mood on Monday was upbeat for actors, who felt that the end of their strike is near as talks between SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP resumed.

Several actors outside of Paramount Studios in Los Angeles told TheWrap that they believed a deal could come as early as that same day, or possibly by Friday, now that the WGA and the studios finally came to terms on ending the months-long writers’ strike.

She and another actress were walking the line with a friend from the WGA. At least half of the picketers outside Paramount held picket signs that read “Wgaw Stands With SAG-AFTRA.” A former WGA strike captain said that the writers’ guild had had the new signs made to show their continued solidarity for the actors.

James Wolk in Ordinary Joe (2021)
NBC’s ‘Ordinary Joe’ and Fox’s ‘The Big Leap’ Canceled After One Season
James Wolk in Ordinary Joe (2021)
NBC’s “Ordinary Joe” and Fox’s “The Big Leap” are being dropped by their respective networks after airing only one season.

TheWrap has learned that Fox loved “The Big Leap” and saw it as an aspirational story, but it didn’t draw strong viewership numbers with an average 0.4/2 L7 and 2.8 million multiplatform viewers.

Based on a U.K. reality format, the Scott Foley-starring dramedy “The Big Leap” was described as “an innovative show-within-a-show that takes viewers on a journey of self-acceptance, body-positivity and empowerment at any age” and “a modern tale about second chances and chasing your dreams and taking back what’s yours.”

Created by “Deception” mastermind and “Friday Night Lights” alum Liz Heldens, it followed “a group of diverse, down-on-their-luck characters attempting to change their lives by participating in a potentially life-ruining reality dance show that builds to a live production of Swan Lake. What this group...

The Big Leap Canceled After One Season at Fox
Simone Recasner
The Big Leap has performed for the last time at Fox.

The feel-good dramedy has been canceled after one season, Deadline reports.

The project is inspired by the UK docuseries Big Ballet and follows a group of diverse, down-on-their-luck characters attempting to change their lives by participating in a potentially life-ruining reality dance show that builds to a live production of Swan Lake.

What this group of underdogs lack in dance training, they make up for with their edge, wit, and desire to reimagine an iconic story to fit their own mold.

It was a modern tale about second chances and chasing your dreams and taking back what’s yours.

The cast included Scott Foley, Simone Recasner, Ser’Darius Blain, Jon Rudnitsky, Raymond Cham Jr., Mallory Jansen, Kevin Daniels, Piper Perabo, and Teri Polo.

While the show was one of the most well-received broadcast dramas in years, it failed to catch on in traditional ratings.
