Marvel Kept The Real Thunderbolts Title A Secret With A Clever Trick
Image
The following contains spoilers for Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts*."

It's no secret that Phases 4 and 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had their ups and downs. Since the unprecedented success of the Infinity Saga, particularly after "Avengers: Endgame," it's been an uphill battle for Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who, in many ways, became a victim of his success. While there have been some standout home runs, such as "WandaVision" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the post-"Endgame" MCU has spawned some of the most uninspired entries in the franchise, including the abysmal "Secret Invasion" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

James Gunn, whose swan song with Marvel Studios came in the form of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," has shared his thoughts on why he believes the McU's woes speak to the struggles of the greater movie industry. Ultimately, a quality script is the top concern, and despite the property's missteps,...

Ironheart: Marvel Shares A Teasing First Glimpse Of [Spoiler] - "On Tuesday, He Finally Arrives"
Image
Ironheart returns for its final three episodes this Tuesday, and Marvel Studios has teased the MCU debut of a certain character with a shadowy first look (via Threads).

We're sure most of you already know who we're referring to, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.

Fans were convinced that Mephisto would turn out to be the big bad of WandaVision, but the demonic villain was never revealed to be the one pulling the strings in Westview. It's since become a bit of a running joke that the character was being teased in the various Disney+ shows (and even some movies) that followed, but - and even Marvel seems to be fully aware that the cat is out of the bag at this stage - the powerful sorcerer is indeed set to appear in Ironheart, and he is played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

We won't reveal how and when he shows up,...

Thunderbolts* Gag Reel And BTS Featurette Focusing On Lewis Pullman's Sentry Released
Image
Marvel Studios recently announced that Thunderbolts*, aka The New Avengers, is set to debut in Digital devices on July 1 before hitting shelves on Blu-ray/DVD from July 29, and a couple of the bonus features have now been released online.

The featurette focuses on arguably the movie's most intriguing character, Bob Reynolds, aka the incredibly powerful Sentry, aka the potentially apocalyptic entity known as The Void. Lewis Pullman, who essentially plays three different people, explains his approach to the role, and the video also includes some new behind-the-scenes footage of Sentry in action.

The gag reel is a little on the short side, but there are some fun out-takes, and the clip ends with Julia Louis-Dreyfus improving (presumably) her lines from an early scene.

Ironheart Poll And Spoiler Discussion: What Did You Make Of The 3-Episode Premiere?
Image
Marvel's latest Disney+ series, Ironheart, debuted with its first three episodes earlier this week. Though initial reactions were definitely leaning positive, full reviews have been more mixed, and the show now seems to have settled on Rotten Tomatoes with a so-so 69% based on 55 verdicts.

There was never really much hype behind this one, as Riri Williams simply wasn't a Marvel Comics character the majority of fans had been clamouring to see get her own series. A muted response to Riri's MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever didn't help matters, nor did the trailers that were released in the build-up to the show's premiere.

While it's fair to say that anticipation for Ironheart wasn't exactly through the roof, the premiere does seem to have made a few converts. At the very least, a lot of viewers are curious to see what will happen next after the closing moments of...

Jon Watts
Jon Watts Explains Pandemic Fatigue Behind Fantastic Four Exit
Jon Watts
Jon Watts has publicly detailed why he exited Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps, citing exhaustion from the pandemic-era shoot of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Speaking during a masterclass at Malta’s Mediterrane Film Festival, the director said he was “out of gas” after months of stringent Covid-19 safeguards and delayed visual-effects workflows and felt unable to “make that movie great” at the required scale.

He described the combined weight of safeguarding crew health and shepherding a $200 million production through supply-chain turmoil as “emotionally draining,” adding that the experience left him short of creative energy for Marvel’s first-family reboot. Industry writers note that Watts had just steered the multiversal Spider-Man finale to nearly $1.9 billion worldwide, a workload that dwarfed his previous two web-slinger entries.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito endorsed the decision in a 2022 statement, praising Watts’ collaboration on the Spider-Man trilogy and expressing...

Ironheart Stars Dominique Thorne & Anthony Ramos Tease A Major MCU Debut - Spoilers
Image
The first three episodes of Marvel Television's Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+, and the show's main cast members have been fielding questions about what's to come in the back half of the season.

The actors have mostly kept things pretty vague up until now, but when asked about a major cameo in an upcoming episode during an interview with Et, Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams) and Anthony Ramos (The Hood) were surprisingly forthcoming about a certain long-awaited MCU debut.

“We know how much the fans, and how long the fans, have been waiting for that," said Thorne. "For it to be in this show that they get him, let's go.”

“He's one of the elite actors of our time, too,” added Ramos.

This is probably as far as the interviewer and the actors were willing to go without actually naming the character, but we're pretty sure the majority of...

Ironheart: Zeke Stane Has Already Played the Main Villain in a Marvel Movie 12 Years Ago
Image
Before Zeke Stane steps into the limelight as the main villain in Ironheart, it’s worth noting he already had a major Marvel moment over a decade ago. In Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (2013), a Japanese anime film by Madhouse, Stane played the central antagonist, going head-to-head with Tony Stark in a high-tech showdown. Directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and penned by Brandon Auman, the movie followed Stark’s pursuit of a biotechnological terror.

With Matthew Mercer voicing Iron Man and Norman Reedus as the Punisher, this lesser-known Marvel anime offered fans a unique, stylized glimpse into Stane’s villainy long before the MCU picked him up.

‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Trailer Hints At “Clobberin’ Time” As Galactus Approaches
Image
Updated, June 25: A fourth trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four: The First Steps has arrived.

Right as the quartet is about to take the stage on The Ted Gilbert Show, which we’ve seen in previous clips, they get alerts on their retro wristbands. The same alert comes as they are about to sit down to dinner. Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer then floats out of the darkness to “herald his beginning” meaning Galactus.

There are also several attempts in the clip to get The Thing to say “It’s clobberin’ time!” which he repeatedly asserts is from the comics and not something he likes to say.

Previous, April 17: Featuring a “retro-futuristic, 1960s vibe” – and apparently a new addition to what Marvel calls its First Family – the new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has just dropped from Marvel Studios.

The clip introduces Reed Richards/Mister...

Ironheart Full Season Trailer Sees Riri Williams Face-Off Against [Spoiler] In Her Final Armor
Image
The first three episodes of Marvel's Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+, and we have a brand-new trailer for the latest MCU series featuring plenty of footage from the back half of the season.

Spoilers follow.

At the end of the third episode, Riri Williams was forced to leave John, the criminal cousin of Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, behind to die in order to maintain her cover. During their battle, Riri drops a piece of Joe McGillicuddy's tech, which is sure to lead the cops right to her new ally's door.

As we now know, Joe is actually the son of Iron Man baddie Obadiah Stane. In the comics, Ezekiel "Zeke" Stane augments his own body with hyper-advanced bionics that allow him to innately wield many of the same abilities as Iron Man.

In the new trailer below, we see Williams facing-off against a mysterious foe who can seemingly...

Ironheart Full Reviews Arrive As Marvel's Latest Disney+ Series Hits Rotten Tomatoes
Image
The first three episodes of Marvel's latest Disney+ show, Ironheart, are now streaming, and the review embargo lifted just as the series premiered.

Last night's social media reactions were largely positive, but full reviews often tell a slightly different story. What's the consensus on Riri Williams' solo series?

While most of the write-ups are definitely a little more critical overall, very few are outright negative, and as we write this, Ironheart has generated an early Rotten Tomatoes score of 68% based on 25 reviews.

Quite a few of the reviews note that the show gets off to a slow start, before building to an exciting finale. The cast also come in for high praise, with lead Dominique Thorne and Lyric Ross as Riri's deceased best friend turned AI N.A.T.A.L.I.E. mentioned as standouts. Though the VFX are polished, the action sequences are said to be mostly bland and unengaging.

Ryan Coogler On How Ironheart Could Connect To Avengers: Doomsday And Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom
Image
Marvel's latest Disney+ series, Ironheart, is set to hit the streamer later tonight with a three-episode premiere, and while the show is fairly small-scale and self-contained in many ways, it does introduce a new concept that is sure to have a major impact on the MCU going forward.

Though this has already been revealed in the trailers and various interviews, mild spoilers follow.

Through her dealings with The Hood (Anthony Ramos), Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) is able to create a suit of armor that combines Stark-inspired tech with powerful spectral magic.

While speaking to Deadline on the red carpet of last night's premiere event in Hollywood, executive producer Ryan Coogler hinted that the events of Ironheart could prove to me more significant to what transpires in Avengers: Doomsday than we realized, particularly as it relates to a certain character who is known for his mastery of magic-based tech.

Daredevil: Born Again Editor Says Marvel "Told Us Not To Watch The Netflix Show" Prior To Overhaul
Image
We already knew that Daredevil: Born Again was shaping up to be a very different show prior to the much-discussed creative overhaul, but it sounds like original showrunners Matt Corman and Chris Ord (and likely some studio higher-ups) were more determined to distance the Disney+ revival from its Netflix predecessor than we realized.

While speaking to Awards Radar, editor Stephanie Filo revealed that she and others who worked on the show were told not to watch Netflix's Daredevil.

“The original take on it was to lean away from the Netflix Daredevil show. They actually told us not to watch the Netflix show, because they didn’t want to affect how we were editing it. Once we restructured everything and figured out we would do a different take on it, we dove back into the Netflix side of things. We were able to use temp music from that Netflix series, and...

Thunderbolts* Concept Art Reveals Some Very Different Looks For Sentry/TheVoid
Image
John Staub has shared some new Thunderbolts* concept art featuring alternate character designs for Bob/the Sentry's villainous alter-ego, the Void.

In the movie, this all-powerful entity took the form of a fully silhouetted Sentry with pin-pricks of light shining through his eyes, but it seems some very different looks were also considered.

A few of these could be viewed as being more comic-accurate than the Void we saw on the screen, although none really come close to the character's more monstrous/demonic depictions on the page.

Marvel Studios recently announced that Thunderbolts*, aka The New Avengers, is set to debut in Digital devices on July 1, before hitting shelves on Blu-ray/DVD from July 29.

Despite a positive reception from critics and fans, Thunderbolts* ended up underperforming at the box office, taking in $380 million worldwide on a reported production budget of $180 million.

Matt and Karen Take the Spotlight Again in New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Behind-the-Scenes Photos
Image
Marvel fans finally got a fresh look at Deborah Ann Woll returning as Karen in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Recent set leaks have sparked speculation that romance might be rekindled between her and Matt, especially after a photo surfaced showing the two of them holding hands.

A major twist in the first episode of Born Again left viewers wondering about Karen’s future. Elden Henson’s character, Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Matt’s best friend and a fan favorite, was killed off, shocking everyone. After that, Karen moves to San Francisco, cutting ties with Matt, her former love interest from the original Netflix series. She didn’t even appear in episode two, making fans ask: will she play a big part in this show?

Showrunner Dario Scardapane recently addressed these concerns. Some called Karen’s role “limited,” but he pushed back on that idea. “Limited presence I would question,...

MCU’s Long-Delayed Vampire Reboot Still Alive, Could Finally Arrive in 2028
Image
Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot, featuring Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter, remains in active development despite years of challenges, according to the most recent report. The project, aiming for a possible 2028 release, has faced numerous setbacks since its announcement.

Back in July 2019, Marvel president Kevin Feige introduced Ali as Blade during San Diego Comic-Con, thrilling fans with the prospect of the Day-Walker’s return.

Ali, known for his role as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, even voiced the character in the 2021 Eternals. However, the excitement has been tempered by repeated delays.

The project has seen a revolving door of talent. Directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange were attached at different points, but both have since left, with Demange reportedly exiting in March 2025 due to difficulties in collaboration.

Writers have also changed frequently, with Eric Pearson (Black Widow) and Michael Green currently working on the script as of mid-2024. Producers include Feige,...

MCU’s Most Troubled Production Still in The Works Reports Claim, Could Release in 2028
Image
The long-delayed Blade reboot is still alive at Marvel Studios, but it’s been anything but smooth sailing.

According to recent reports, the movie is still in development and could finally hit theaters in 2028, though fans have heard that before.

The new Blade film was first announced back in 2019 when Mahershala Ali joined the project. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige made the announcement during San Diego Comic-Con that year. Ali, who previously played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, was excited to take on the role. He even made a brief voice cameo in Eternals in 2021.

Since then, however, the project has faced delay after delay. Directors and writers have come and gone. Bassam Tariq was once attached, then Yann Demange stepped in, only to reportedly exit the project in March 2025 due to allegedly being difficult to work with.

Rumor: Ironheart Will Feature An Appearance From [Spoiler]... Or Will It Be [Spoiler]?
Image
We've been hearing rumors that Mephisto might be set to make his MCU debut in Ironheart for years (it can be easy to forget that the show has been in development since 2021), and we may finally have confirmation that the character will indeed make an appearance in the latest Disney+ series.

Or at least, some version of the character.

According to Mttsh, "Sacha Baron Cohen is playing Mephisto Dormammu in Ironheart!"

We're not really sure what this means (Mephisto and Dormammu are obviously two completely different characters in the comics), but is it possible we'll get some kind of amalgam of both of these villains? Dormammu already featured in Doctor Strange, but there's nothing to say the powerful sorcerer couldn't decide to join forces with Mephisto to form some kind of demonic dynamic duo... in the same body?

The scooper hasn't elaborated, so we're really just spitballing here, but you...

Ironheart: Fans Are Convinced Official Episode Titles Contain A Mephisto Hint

It's since become a bit of a running joke that the character was being teased in the various Disney+ shows (and even some movies) that followed, but rumor has it that the powerful sorcerer is set to make his MCU debut in Ironheart.

Reliable sources have claimed that Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen was cast as Mephisto, but this was never officially announced, and we still don't know for certain that Marvel's take on the Devil will appear in the series.

We'll find out soon enough, but in the meantime, Marvel Television has unveiled the release schedule and titles for all six episodes of Ironheart, and there's speculation that episode 5, "Karma's a Glitch," might contain a Mephisto hint.

The Huge Marvel Secret This Thunderbolts Co-Star Held On To 'For a Long Time'
Image
One Thunderbolts* star recently revealed how they knew the film's twist ending for many years. Julia Louis-Dreyfus opened up about the exact moment Marvel executives told her about it.

I haven't said a thing to anyone!"

Thunderbolts: The New Avengers Sets Digital & Blu-Ray Release Dates; New Trailer Features Final Scene Twist
Image
Marvel Studios has officially announced that Thunderbolts*, aka The New Avengers, is set to debut in Digital devices on July 1, before hitting shelves on Blu-ray/DVD from July 29.

We also have a new trailer for the movie, and even though the studio is still keeping Lewis Pullman's Sentry under wraps for some reason (we've seen enough concept art at this stage), the teaser does include shots from the final scene with Val announcing the team as the New Avengers during a press conference.

Speaking of which, it seems the movie is now being referred to as "Thunderbolts*: *The New Avengers" for home release marketing purposes.

Despite a positive reception from critics and fans, Thunderbolts* ended up underperforming at the box office, taking in $380 million worldwide on a reported production budget of $180 million. Analysts believe the movie would have needed to take in at least $400 million to break even,...

Thunderbolts* Star Julia Louis-Dreyfus Says "New Avengers" Twist Was Actually Years In The Making
Image
Just three days after the movie was released in theaters, Marvel Studios began the process of rebranding Thunderbolts* as The New Avengers via a series of posters, BTS promotional videos featuring the cast, and outdoor adverts.

Though the actual movie isn't officially known as The New Avengers (the studio simply decided to spell out the asterisk as a marketing ploy), this is the name the team adopted at the very end of the film when Valentina Allegra de Fontaine publically took credit for their heroism in an attempt to keep herself out of prison.

We had previously heard that Kevin Feige came up with the idea to add the asterisk, etc, but it was generally assumed that the whole New Avengers twist was concocted fairly late in the game. While speaking to EW, Val actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that Feige actually pitched her on the name change before she'd even...

Ironheart Wants To Be Marvel's Answer To A Legenday TV Crime Thriller
Image
Marvel's latest live-action TV show is nearly upon us with "Ironheart" set to debut on Disney+ later this month. The show was first announced way back in December 2020 alongside "She-Hulk," "Secret Invasion," "Armor Wars," and "I Am Groot." Most of those have come to fruition, save for "Armor Wars," which is supposedly becoming a movie. But now, after years of waiting, Riri Williams is finally getting a solo project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- and at least one of the show's producers has made a pretty bold comparison.

Executive producer Sev Ohanian recently spoke with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar) about "Ironheart" ahead of its debut. We've largely been waiting for this ever since Dominique Thorne made her debut as the character in 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Speaking about the character, Ohanian said that "Riri is brilliant yet flawed and finds herself going down a path that I'm not...

Image
Marvel's Ironheart is set to premiere later this month, but it can be easy to forget just how long this series has been in development. We first got word that RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Shea Couleé had nabbed a "secret" role in the show back in 2022, and are just now finding out some details about her character.

EW has shared a first look at Couleé's character, a "fierce hacker" who goes by the nickname "Slug."

"I help a group of urban Robin Hoods to take away from the privileged and help give back to the community," Shea tells the site. "I’m there to help out on all the missions that go down, trying to shift this power dynamic in this version of Chicago we see in the show."

Though this might well be a new character, there's a chance Couleé is playing a reimagined take on Ulysses Lugman,...

Ryan Coogler
The adventures of Riri Williams continue after the events of Ryan Coogler‘s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Now, Williams is trying to find her own path to becoming a protector of the people. She encounters pushback from her loved ones for dedicating her intelligence to building Iron Man armor. As well as encountering a new threat in the form of Anthony Ramos’ new character. Ironheart premieres later this month and Marvel has now released a new trailer just prior to its release.

Dominique Thorne, who stars as the character to take up the Iron Mantle, stated, “What was interesting for me was how different Riri’s story and entrance into the MCU was in comparison to other characters. After bringing Riri to life in the world of Wakanda, we had an amazing opportunity to follow that up with a deep dive into the character that allows for the exploration of her origin story.

Rumor: Marvel Zombies Will Feature The Return Of A Fan-Favorite Captain America Franchise Villain
Image
In What If...? season 1, we were taken to a reality inhabited by "Marvel Zombies." The episode concluded with Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ant-Man—well, his head at least—heading to Wakanda in a Quinjet...unaware that a zombified Thanos was waiting for them with the Infinity Gauntlet in hand.

The four-episode Marvel Zombies spin-off is expected to address that cliffhanger, with the focus eventually shifting to a new set of leads comprised primarily of Phase 4 characters (this show has been in the works for a long time).

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word that Captain America: Civil War villain Baron Zemo will also appear in Marvel Zombies. There's no word on whether Daniel Brühl will reprise the role, though we'd certainly hope so given how synonymous the actor has become with the character.

In the comic books, Baron Zemo assembled the Thunderbolts when the Avengers went missing. However, while his team...

Fantastic Four: First Steps Promos Arrive as Tickets Go on Sale

Marvel Studios announced today that tickets are now on sale for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to open in theaters on July 25. A 75-second new look and exhibitor posters were released as well.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet.

Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).

And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. The action-adventure also stars Paul Walter Hauser,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps gets a final trailer as tickets go on sale
Image
Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the film is determined to give Vin Diesel a run for his money in talking about the importance of family. The new trailer showcases a bit more about the world that our heroes inhabit, notably the alternate futuristic retro look of New York with our heroes soaring through the air in this incarnation’s Fantasti-car. Additionally, we get a peek into a bit more interaction between Johnny Storm and Reed Richards.

Kevin Feige recently talked about finally getting to do Marvel’s version of the Fantastic Four and stated, “I think that there are no four characters that are more important for the history of Marvel. When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. It came at the perfect time, to help us launch into a new era. They are Marvel’s First Family,...

Captain America: Brave New World Director On Why It Wasn't Possible To Keep Red Hulk Out Of Movie's Trailers
Image
Captain America: Brave New World opened in theaters this past February to mixed reviews. When all was said and done, the movie grossed only $415.1 million, a disappointing result made worse by reshoots that led to characters being cut and a complete overhaul for The Leader.

In attempting to figure out where things went wrong for Sam Wilson's first solo outing as the McU's Captain America, fans have suggested that Red Hulk shouldn't have been shown in the movie's trailers.

That way, The Leader and Serpent Society could have been marketed as the main threats, with perhaps only a few hints about Red Hulk's debut helping increase intrigue and excitement for the movie. It's a compelling argument, but not one Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah necessarily agrees with.

"I don’t think so," he told Empire Online when asked if that would have been possible. "When you...

Daredevil: Born Again - Mike Colter Seemingly Teases His Return As Luke Cage As Dd's Army Takes Shape
Image
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is still filming in New York, and both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) recently confirmed that they are currently in the Big Apple via respective social media posts.

Now, Colter has shared a more direct hint that he may be set to return as Luke Cage for the second season of the Disney+ revival series by posting an image of his character to his Instagram Stories.

We know that Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones, so it only makes sense that the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) would enlist more of his fellow Defenders for back-up.

After Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) declared martial law with the help of his anti-vigilante task force in the season 1 finale, Matt Murdock decided to fight back by assembling a team of his own. The line-up was lacking a bit of muscle,...

Lilo & Stitch Passed Captain America: Brave New World's Global Cume In A Week - But There's Some Good News
Image
Captain America: Brave New World earned only $415 million at the worldwide box office, a disappointing result made worse by the fact that reshoots reportedly sent its budget skyrocketing to a whopping $300 million.

Thunderbolts*, which received far more positive reviews, has similarly underperformed. At best, it will likely finish its run with $380 million.

Don't feel too sorry for Disney, though, as Lilo & Stitch is shaping up to be 2025's biggest hit. Following a record-breaking Memorial Day weekend, the live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated classic passed $421 million on Wednesday...meaning it outgrossed Captain America: Brave New World's $415 million in less than one week.

It's not all doom and gloom for the McU's Sam Wilson; Captain America: Brave New World has been #1 on Disney+ since arriving on the streaming platform earlier this week.

Even more important is the news that the movie is #1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales,...

Thunderbolts* Concept Art Reveals A More Comic-Accurate Take On The Sentry
Image
Lewis Pullman's take on the Sentry that was introduced in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* donned a fairly comic-accurate costume, but, as is so often the case, it seems an earlier version of the Golden Guardian's outfit would have looked a little closer to his comic book counterpart's.

Concept artist Constantine Sekeris has shared one of his "very early" designs for the Sentry, and while this isn't too far away from what ended up on the screen, the costume is a little smoother and slightly less militaristic-looking than the suit Pullman wore in the movie.

"Posting very early exploration of Sentry which final design was done by the great @johnstaubart from Thunderbolts/New Avengers film when I was working at Marvel Studios Vis Dev," Sekeris writes. "This project was lead by @andyparkart who was very kind to bring me on his already very talented team of artists from @ryan_meinerding_art...

Daredevil: Born Again Is The Only Live-Action MCU Series Not To Make Nielsen's Top 10 Streaming Chart
Image
Though the show certainly had its share of detractors, Daredevil: Born Again was a big hit with critics (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), and seemed to be embraced by the majority of fans as one of Marvel's better Disney+ efforts.

We had also been led to believe that the Man Without Fear's revival series did pretty good numbers for the streaming service, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Daredevil: Born Again has become the first live-action Marvel Studios series not to make Nielsen's Top 10 Original Streaming Shows List. The only other Marvel streaming titles to fail to find their way onto the list were animated.

Born Again is also the second live-action MCU Disney+ show not to make Nielsen's overall top 10 after Secret Invasion.

There are likely a number of factors involved with the show failing to find a bigger audience, but Born Again was unusually violent for a Marvel series,...

Captain America: Brave New World Is Now Streaming On Disney Plus - Did The Movie Deserve Its Tepid Reception?
Image
Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is now streaming on Disney+, giving those who decided to skip the movie in theaters - or who might want to give it another shot - the chance to watch Sam Wilson's first big-screen outing as the Sentinel of Liberty from the comfort of their couch.

Deadpool and Wolverine proved to be a much-needed box office jolt for Marvel/Disney, and also went over pretty well with fans and critics. Unfortunately, Brave New World wasn't quite able to keep the momentum going.

To be fair, the movie did end up passing $400 million worldwide (which didn't always seem likely), but with a budget that reportedly ballooned to over $200 million after extensive reshoots (not counting marketing costs), this must still be considered as a disappointing result. The critical reception was also mixed-negative, and the fourth Captain America movie is currently sitting at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 342 reviews.

Thunderbolts* Concept Art Reveals A Very Different Look For Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost
Image
Some more concept art from Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* has been shared online via Aleksi Briclot, who has unveiled one of his early designs for former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent turned mercenary for hire, Ava Starr, aka Ghost.

As you can see, this is a very different look for the character, with a darker costume more akin to the outfit Ghost donned during her first (and only other) appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Some felt that Ava was a little underutilized in Thunderbolts*, but John-Kamen's performance was singled out as a low-key highlight.

Ghost is set to return along with the rest of "The New Avengers" for Avengers: Doomsday, and, interestingly enough, John-Kamen was the only Thunderbolts* cast member spotted in Bahrain along with Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), and Winston Duke (M'Baku) in these recent photos.

Thunderbolts* Passes $350M Worldwide; Lilo & Stitch Sets Record For Biggest Ever Memorial Day Debut
Image
It was a big weekend for the box office, with two major studio releases arriving in theaters and scoring very impressive debuts both domestically and overseas.

Disney's latest live-action remake, Lilo and Stitch, ended up breaking the record for biggest Memorial Day opening weekend ever with a massive $145.5 million. The movie, which received so-so reviews (68% on Rotten Tomatoes), now sits at $341.7 million worldwide, and looks set to be one of the Mouse House's biggest hits in quite some time.

Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, meanwhile, earned a franchise-best $63 million from US theaters, adding another $127 million overseas for a worldwide total of $190 million. A strong start, but this last(?) Mi movie is going to need to continue packing those seats for weeks to come if it hopes to justify its staggering $400 million production budget.

Warner Bros. and New Line's Final Destination: Bloodlines claimed third place with $19 million.

Ironheart: "Every Dream Has A Cost" On New Poster For Marvel's Next Disney+ Series
Image
Marvel Television's next Disney+ MCU series, Ironheart, debuts with a 3-episode premiere exactly one month from today, and we have a colourful new poster featuring star Dominique Thorne as genius-level inventor and budding hero, Riri Williams.

The recent trailer showed Ironheart in action while also revealing a little more about the villainous Hood (Anthony Ramos). The teaser seemed to go over well enough with fans of the character, but those less familiar with Riri's comic book adventures will likely take a bit more convincing.

During a recent interview with Games Radar, Thorne spoke about where we find Williams at the beginning of the series.

"Coming off the heels of this super vulnerable experience, with her having been imprisoned, that vulnerability presents a very tender opportunity for Riri to make a real and impactful decision about how her genius will impact the world around her. How will it affect the people that she loves?...

Daredevil: Born Again Set Photos Reveal First Look At Krysten Ritter As The Returning Jessica Jones
Image
We recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter would be making her return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress was spotted filming scenes alongside co-star Charlie Cox in these latest set photos.

Miss Jones hasn't updated her wardrobe since we last saw her on Netflix, and is still rocking the signature blue jeans and leather jacket combo. Cox, meanwhile, is sporting the Man Without Fear's back costume with the red "Dd" chest logo.

The Defenders had its share of issues, but the often contentious relationship between Jones and Daredevil was a definite highlight, so it should be interesting to revisit their dynamic in the MCU.

Check out the photos at the links below.

Thunderbolts* Poll Results: Find Out What Cbm Readers Made Of "The New Avengers"
Image
Shortly after Thunderbolts* hit theaters, we asked you to let us know what you made of the latest MCU movie by casting your vote in a poll, and the results are now in.

2496 of you voted, and this was the most positive response to any polled movie we've seen in quite some time.

With 1100 votes, 44% of you felt that Thunderbolts* was excellent, 5/5; 37% said very good, 4/5; 12% said good, 3/5; 4% said disappointing, 2/5, and only 3% voted for awful, 1/5.

The majority of fans were clearly won over by Marvel Studios' latest, which also received positive reviews from critics (88% on Rotten Tomatoes). Unfortunately, cinema-goers haven't shown quite as much enthusiasm.

Despite Marvel's "The New Avengers" rebrand giving ticket sales a boost, momentum has slowed over the past week or so. Thunderbolts* is currently sitting at around $331 million worldwide on a reported production budget of $180 million. Taking additional costs into account, the movie really needs to pass...

Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox On Potential Big-Screen Return & [Spoiler]'s Death
Image
By now, we're sure the majority of you have seen Daredevil: Born Again, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.

Matt Murdock's long-time friend and partner Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was assassinated by Bullseye in the pilot episode, prompting Murdock to hang up the horns... until he's compelled to suit-up again to battle crime and corruption in New York City later on in the season.

The decision to kill off such a beloved character did not sit well with some fans, but Cox believes it was necessary to "shake things up" a bit and give the story some genuine stakes.

"The awful thing that happens in Born Again, that was the gift for me as the actor, was the death of Foggy. I mean, tragic in terms of the show loses an element that, I think, was the heartbeat of Daredevil," said Cox during a new interview with SAG-AFTRA.

Will Luke Cage & Iron Fist Appear In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2? Social Media Posts Ignite Speculation
Image
After months of rumors and speculation, we recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, but will the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) get some back up from the rest of his fellow Defenders?

Season 2 of the Disney+ revival series is still filming in New York, and both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) have confirmed that they are currently in the Big Apple via respective social media posts (Colter also left a comment on Jones' photo).

Their posts don't actually include any Born Again hints or references and this could just be a complete coincidence, but this has prompted speculation that Colter and Jones might be set to reunite with Cox and Ritter in the MCU.

For what it's worth, The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez says he does expect "all four Defenders to...

Andor Creator Tony Gilroy Has A Theory About The McU's Decline: "That's Why All Those Marvel Movies Fail"
Image
Whether you subscribe to the notion of "superhero fatigue" or not, there's no arguing with the fact that Marvel Studios is not the cinematic juggernaut it once was. Even if you happen to disagree with the general perception that the studio's output has seen a dip in quality of late, diminishing box office returns can at least partially be attributed to a decline in audience interest.

During an interview with /Film, Filmmaker/writer Tony Gilroy reflected on Disney/Lucasfilm's original pitch for the critically-acclaimed Andor, which would have been more akin to a buddy-movie adventure with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and K-2S0 (Alan Tudyk).

"In the show, it's perfect. [K-2So's late introduction was] something I always intended. The versions that they had of the show prior, they were slick and they were interesting. They were not bad, but they had a fatal flaw, it seemed to me, which is if that's your show,...
