Making memories #family,” he captioned Instagram photos from his vacation on Sunday, July 27. The first slide of Melvin’s photo slideshow featured a sweet family group photo on the beach. Melvin smiled for the camera with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and their two kids, Delano (11) and Sybil (8), as well as more relatives. While the family of four took their own beach photos, the Melvins posed for more pictures with their family as they enjoyed time in the pool, on a boat, and at group meals and hangouts. Image
Craig Melvin melted hearts on Monday’s (May 5) edition of the Today show as he shared some adorable family photos of his daughter, Sybil, who had her first communion over the weekend. Fellow Today 3rd Hour co-hosts Dylan Dreyer and Al Roker asked Melvin about his “very special” weekend, which saw the morning show anchor attending Catholic church with his wife, Emmy-winning broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak, and their two children, Sybil (8) and Delano (11). “It was nice, it really was. It was delightful. My daughter had her first communion, so we celebrated her yesterday,” Melvin said as he showed photos from the event, including Sybil in a white Communion dress and pink flower crown and Delano in a smart blue suit. The pictures also included a cross-shaped cake, which impressed Dreyer and Roker. “Sometimes those cakes don’t taste very good,” Melvin said before adding, “This one, strawberry flavored, was fantastic.” Czarniak...

Craig is married to Lindsay Czarniak, a broadcaster. The couple has two children: a son, Delano, and a daughter, Sybil.

Craig Melvin’s salary increase revealed after Today promotion, Hoda Kotb exit
Hoda Kotb
News of Hoda Kotb’s exit from the popular Today show surprised fans and her co-workers last month.

Hoda will leave her seat next to Savannah Guthrie next January, and Craig Melvin will be named her successor as co-anchor for the show’s first and second hours.

Hoda’s popular show, Today with Hoda & Jenna, will become Today with Jenna & Friends.

Jenna’s show will feature different guest hosts instead of naming one new permanent host to sit beside her each weekday.

As Monsters and Critics have reported, Savannah Guthrie’s permanent co-host will be a deserving Craig Melvin starting January 13, 2025.

Craig, who has been with NBC for fourteen years and is already a familiar face on Today, will be getting a nice salary bump with this promotion.

Craig Melvin’s new salary revealed by an insider

Parade reports that Craig earns about $3 million annually in his current job. He is a steady fixture,...

Image
Craig Melvin earned the promotion of a lifetime this week.

In case you missed it, the long-time reporter was named as Hoda Kotb’s replacement on The Today Show… about one month after Kotb announced she was leaving her role as co-host on this iconic program.

She’ll remain a part of the NBC News family.

But Melvin will sit alongside Savannah Guthrie for the 7 and 8 a.m. hours starting on January 13, 2025.

Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in Today (1952)
Here’s what to know about Craig Melvin’s wife and kids
Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in Today (1952)
The Today Show will have a new yet familiar face when the show kicks off its 2025 run.

Craig Melvin will be the new co-anchor if you haven’t heard the big news.

He was chosen to replace Hoda Kotb, who recently announced her retirement from the popular morning show after 17 years.

Craig will take over hosting duties alongside Savannah Guthrie starting January 13, 2025, and he will have a lot to balance with his new position.

The 45-year-old has been a part of the NBC family for 14 years, but his family at home takes precedence over everything.

Craig has been married to Lindsay Czarniak for over a decade after meeting in 2008 when they both worked for The Washington Post.

The pair got engaged in 2011 and tied the knot that year in Washington D.C., later welcoming two kids, Delano and Sybil Melvin.

Today’s Craig Melvin and his wife Lindsay Czarniak are...

Hoda Kotb
Here’s who is replacing Hoda Kotb as Savannah Guthrie’s new co-anchor on Today
Hoda Kotb
Things are changing at the Today Show. Hoda Kotb will leave early next year, and someone else will take her spot.

Currently, Hoda is the co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie on the popular daytime news show, but sadly, that is changing soon, as her retirement is approaching.

As Monsters and Critics reported, Hoda announced that her retirement from Today will begin in early 2025, stating that “something has to give” in her busy life.

Hoda has two young daughters and faced the traumatizing experience of leaving them at home for an extended time during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Savannah Guthrie faced the same problems with leaving her young family at home while she worked tirelessly alongside Hoda during her busy time in Paris.

Savannah will work alongside another familiar face from the Today Show as her longtime best friend Hoda is leaving, and the successor has been named.

Who is Hoda’s replacement on the Today Show?...

2022 Winter Olympics: Lindsay Czarniak Expects Surprises in Opening Ceremony
Image
Beijing and the Olympics elicit vivid memories for sports broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak. She worked the 2008 Summer Games, largely covering gymnastics. It was a thrill to cross paths with the likes of Nadia Comăneci while exploring the culture of the host city. Her dad Chet was also there reporting for USA Today, which presented a unique bonding experience. The two were part of a group that was able to take time out to visit the Great Wall of China. This time around, Czarniak is part of the coverage from afar in the studio. She’ll be part of the USA Network team, hosting pregame coverage and bringing in analysts to help tell the stories of the events. With the Opening Ceremony and final preparations underway, we connected with Czarniak to give us an idea of what to expect from the “Bird’s Nest.” What kind of vibe have you been getting...

NBCUniversal Wrestles With Pandemic’s Effect on Broadcasting the Tokyo Olympics
Image
NBCU execs are wrestling with what could be their biggest sports challenge yet: the Quiet Olympics.

Broadcasting and streaming the Tokyo Summer Games already had a high degree of difficulty due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Then Japan declared a state of emergency late last week, and banned live crowds, adding all kinds of new hurdles to the massive production slated to kick off July 23. Will the events seem as powerful and captivating without the roar of the crowd? Can sportscasters communicate the spirit and substance of the games without the hoopla fans have come to expect?

NBC’s top sports exec insists they can.

“We’re confident that the viewer at home won’t notice a difference,” says Pete Bevacqua, chairman of NBC Sports, in emailed responses to queries. “In order to compensate for no international spectators, our production team has worked for months on an elaborate...

Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg Are Going to Be Recapping the Olympics
Image
Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg are teaming up with Peacock to tackle a new endeavor: recapping the Olympics.

Pairing Hart and Snoop as the comedy guides through the Tokyo Olympics 2021, the commentary series “Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg” will be exclusively available on NBC’s streaming service. The pair will set out to summarize the Olympics’ most impressive displays of athleticism, as well as the moments that don’t go as planned.

NBCUniversal has remained confident with its plans to broadcast up to 7,000 hours of Tokyo Olympics events. “Olympic Highlights” only reinforces the notion that Peacock will be a critical asset of their strategy.

In addition to Hart and Snoop, late-night host Amber Ruffin will offer her commentary for the streaming service from the ground in Tokyo. Cari Champion and Kenny Mayne, two veteran broadcasters who recently left ESPN, will co-anchor “Tokyo Tonight,” a quick-turnaround highlights and interviews program.

NBC Aims to Boost Olympics Despite Uncertain Pandemic Climate
Image
NBCUniversal gave its strongest indication yet that it would move forward with plans to broadcast 7,000 hours of Tokyo Olympics events even as worries continue over the potential health of attendees and athletes as Japan continues to grapple with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Jeff Shell, NBCU’s CEO, along with other executives present Wednesday at an event designed to preview the company’s plans, suggested a global audience was eager to emerge from an era of forced isolation and enjoy a shared experience and see the event, which has already been postponed by a year. These Games “could be the most meaningful Olympics of our lifetime,” suggested Molly Solomon, the executive producer of NBCU’s Olympics broadcast.

The Olympics are a critical piece of the economic underpinnings of NBCU and its corporate parent, Comcast. The companies paid $4.4 billion for a rights deal that allows NBCU to cover the Olympics in the U.

I’m just going to come right out and say this. I have a man crush on Craig Melvin, and I don’t care who knows it.

How can you not love this guy? He’s a young Southerner who was raised by a mom who was a teacher and a dad who worked shifts at the post office in South Carolina. I love that even though he is so young, he has made his success the old-fashioned way: through hard work, coming up through local news in South Carolina, winning Emmy Awards, becoming an honored anchorman. Then at the NBC station in Washington, D.C., he not only distinguished himself with his journalistic chops — he multitasked by meeting,...

Matt Lauer
Et has learned that Today weekend co-host Craig Melvin is in the running to replace Matt Lauer as co-host of Today.
