Mieczyslawa Cwiklinska

Trivia

Mieczyslawa Cwiklinska

Edit
  • The name of her father remains unknown. She was adopted by her mother's husband but for many years it was no secret for theatrical circles of Warsaw that her real father was some Russian officer her mother met in Lublin in 1878.
  • When she was going to marry her first husband she and her mother lied about her date of birth. They wanted the groom's family to think that Miecia (that's how she was called at home) was one year younger than she really was.
  • She had three husbands. All her marriages ended with divorce. She never had a child.
  • At the age of 92 she went to the United Stated of America in April 1971 to make a tour with the play "Trees Die Standing" by Spanish writer Alejandro Casona. She performed in few American cities in the East coast for Polish people living there.
  • She made her first movie at the age 54. Soon she became of one the most often casted Polish film actresses (if not the most). Between 1933 - 1939 she appeared in 36 movies. After II World War she made only one movie. It was "Ulica Graniczna" in 1949.
