- Cousin of Jane Curtin.
- She was cast in the original Vivre à trois (1976) pilot, that was shot in March 1976. She played Jenny, an early version of Janet Wood, while Susanne Zenor played Samantha, an early version of Chrissy Snow. Both actresses had beat out many candidates, including Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers. John Ritter said that Curtin and Zenor were "really, really fun" but Fred Silverman disagreed and cast De Witt and Somers instead.
- In 1982, Valerie portrayed "Judy Bernly" on the television remake of the film, Comment se débarrasser de son patron (1980), resuming the role originated by Jane Fonda. After the first season, Curtin departed from the series, but later returned for the unsuccessful syndicated version, a few years later.
