Yvette Curtis was born in the Bronx, New York on August 16, 1960. She began her career at the tender age of 3 as a singer/dancer, appearing in small dance recitals and off-off Broadway musical productions. She performed as a singer at the World's Fair in Flushing, Queens in the mid-sixties. She was a print model for magazines and toy box covers in her early years, and appeared in TV commercials. At the age of 8, Yvette was cast in the National Touring Company of "The Me Nobody Knows" as the characters Lillie Mae and Rhoda combined, and was later re-cast as Lillie Mae in the Boston Production Company for a lengthy run at the Open Circle Theater. In addition to the films "A Warm December," as Stephanie Younger, and "Claudine," as Patrice Price, Yvette appeared as a principal performer in several television commercials between the 1970's and the early to mid 1980's. After graduating from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1981, she attended Marymount Manhattan College, where she graduated with a BFA in Acting. After college, she performed in several Productions of "Ain't Misbehavin'," as Charlaine, most notably at the Westgate Dinner Theater in Toledo, Ohio; Daedalus Productions National Touring Company out of New York City; and Florida's Hippodrome Theater and Touring Company. In the mid 1980's she was cast as Crystal in "Little Shop of Horrors," at the Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville, PA. In the late 1980's, she was cast in the Goodspeed Opera House production of "Oh Kay!", as a featured singer/dancer in the ensemble. After becoming a mother for the first time in 1991, Yvette decided to stay close to home and raise her family, while continuing to perform locally in several children's theater musicals with Macy's Productions. As of 2014, she is a divorced mother of 3 awesome and talented children, all of whom have been blessed with the gift of song. Yvette continues to embrace her love of the arts, while working in the corporate world for a popular Media company.
