Conceptualized the "Urban Contemporary" format while Program Director for WBLS-FM New York City that is the staple of most urban radio stations today.Began his career in Buffalo, New York got his big break with WMCA-AM and then WWRL-AM in New York. Served as DJ and Program Director for WBLS-FM and WRKS-FM in New York City during the mid 70s to the mid 80s.
