    American actress and model. Born Bette Brunk, she was voted Miss Chicago in 1942 and also became runner-up in the Miss America contest. In addition, she was a 1942 Swim Award winner. Later, she changed her name to Suzi Crandall and began acting in films from 1946, for a while under contract to Selznick and to Warner Brothers. In June 1948, she married airfield operator Benjamin F. Hitchens. She was last heard from teaching modelling in 1964.
