The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger remake was released in October 2023. Things went quiet after that, though reviews from various film festivals heaped praise on filmmaker Macon Blair's take on Toxie.
A full trailer for the movie has been released (via FearHQ.com), and there's plenty of unhinged violence and a level of craziness that promises to make this another cult classic. Whether it has widespread appeal is another matter, but it likely didn't cost much to produce and stands a good chance of making a tidy little profit.
Back to those reviews, and much of the praise heaped on The Toxic Avenger is featured heavily in the second half of this latest sneak peek. And yes, that's not a lie: this movie will release "unrated."
While Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage lends his voice to Toxie, Luisa Guerreiro, an actor and movement artist, donned the...

Temuera Morrison has opened up about Boba Fett's uncertain future in Star Wars and the fate of The Book of Boba Fett. Despite Morrison’s triumphant return as Boba Fettin The Mandalorian season 2, the character’s storyline faltered in his spinoff show, The Book of Boba Fett. While the issues with that seven-episode series had nothing to do with Morrison’s work – the pacing, double timelines, and Din Djarin and Grogu’s prominent inclusion shifted the focus from Boba and his partner, Fennec Shand – his character has nevertheless been stuck in limbo.
Though The Book of Boba Fett was never officially canceled (The Acolyte was the first Star Wars show to suffer that fate in the trades), there has been no word on a potential second season, having been billed as a limited series. In a recent interview with Collider, Morrison spoke about his desire for The Book of Boba Fett...

It’s been over three years since The Book of Boba Fett concluded with its controversial season finale, and despite star Temuera Morrison being one of the longest-tenured stars in the universe, the character hasn’t been seen since. Few would push back against the claim that The Book of Boba Fett wasn’t without its issues, but none of these are the fault of Morrison, who portrayed the character with the same heart that he’s been doing for years. Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently caught up with Morrison to chat about his new movie Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), and she mentioned how sad she was that we haven’t seen him in Star Wars since his series went off the air. Morrison expressed the same sentiment:
"I'm sad too. Where The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? Where the hell is Season 2? I know they're doing Ahsoka Season 2. I'm going,...

After shocking audiences with her chilling performances in Ti West’s X saga and giving Netflix subscribers another reason to look forward to Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Mia Goth is ready to travel the stars for Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film Star Wars: Starfighter. Goth joins Ryan Gosling as a primary cast member for the Star Wars adventure coming to theaters on May 28, 2027.
According to Disney, Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, is a standalone adventure set approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker. The film, which will begin production this Fall, is an entirely new adventure featuring all-new characters set in a period that has not been explored on screen yet.

The Mandalorian season 4 was scheduled to go into production shortly before 2023's Hollywood strikes brought the film and television industry to a halt. Scripts had been written, but the downtime saw Disney decide that Din Djarin and Grogu's next adventure should be a feature instead.
Given their popularity and season 3's open-ended conclusion, it's not hugely surprising that the House of Mouse is eager to cash in on The Mandalorian's success by shifting focus from streaming subscribers to box office revenue.
Six years since The Rise of Skywalker was released, getting Star Wars back into theaters, after Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy essentially turned it into a small screen property, has become a priority for Disney CEO Bob Iger.
Why? Well, Moana 2 was originally a Disney+ TV series and grossed over $1 billion last year; Lilo & Stitch was similarly destined for streaming, only to break box office records over Memorial Day weekend.

We’re now more than two years removed from what might be the final season of The Mandalorian, and although there may not be another season of the Disney+ show, the story of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu is far from over. The Mandalorian & Grogu will make the hyperspace jump into theaters next year on May 22, and it will pick up after the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 finale, which sees Din and Grogu retire to Nevarro after helping establish a community there.
Although Pedro Pascal is known as The Mandalorian, other stars are equally important in bringing Din Djarin to life. One of those stars is Brendan Wayne, who, more often than not, is the one inside the suit. Pascal may be the voice, but Wayne portrays all of Din’s movements and body language. Another teaser for The Toxic Avenger has been released, and this latest look at Macon Blair's upcoming remake/reimagining of the Troma classic focuses on the villainous Fritz Garbinger (Elijah Wood) band, "The Killer Nutz."
Unfortunately for these monstercore rockers, Toxie (Peter Dinklage) is not a fan, and shows up at their concert to dispense some hilariously gruesome justice.
The Toxic Avenger debuted its first trailer back in October of 2023 before completely dropping off the radar. Fans had been wondering about the status of the movie ever since, and late last year, a report claimed that the gory splatter-fest - which has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes - had been deemed "unreleasable" and "not safe enough to market."
One distributor was willing to take a chance on Toxie, and Cinerverse and Bloody Disgusting recently announced that the movie will get a theatrical release on August 29 - and it will hit theaters unrated.

There's no denying that the Star Wars fandom can be a cantankerous bunch sometimes, but mostly, it's been an important part of pop culture since George Lucas launched his seminal 1977 film that helped change the landscape of science fiction cinema. Despite its divisive nature at times, however, there is one person who sees nothing but the good in all of it: The Mandalorian's Katee Sackhoff.
Speaking with MovieWeb's own George Edelman to discuss her new action comedy with Josh Hartnett, Fight or Flight, the subject of Star Wars inevitably came up. Sackhoff was no stranger to sci-fi before then thanks to her time on Battlestar Galactica as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, but she became known to fans as Bo-Katan Kryze in the animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels, and for portraying the live-action version of the character in The Mandalorian. Sa fan-favorite character from Star Wars: The Mandalorian seems poised to return amid rumors of a potential The Mandalorian and Grogu appearance. Acclaimed actor Katee Sackhoff offers an encouraging update on whether fans will see Mandalore ruler Bo-Katan Kryze again.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Sackhoff insisted Bo-Katan is appearing "in some form," though when The Mandalorian and Grogu was mentioned, she smiled and pretended to be oblivious to the news of the Jon Favreau film wrapping production last December.
"You will see her again in some form. That's all you need to know," she said. Sackhoff also joked that she has job security in the Star Wars universe thanks to her connections with Dave Filoni, the sci-fi franchise's long-time producer. "Dave Filoni cannot get rid of me, because Bo Katan is based off of his wife, so I've got some job security," she said.

Of the plethora of Star Wars projects that are in development at Disney, the only one that we know for sure that’s coming out next year is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which has a release date of May 22, 2026. Featuring Pedro Pascal reprising his role as the titular Mando from the beloved series, the film is set at some point between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and will once again see him and Grogu go on what Pascal calls "one of the best adventures ever made."
Appearing on the red carpet at Star Wars Celebration Japan recently, Pascal was approached by the good folks at IMDb, and discussed a little of what's to come in The Mandalorian & Grogu. He had high praise for both the sets and creator/director Jon Favreau, noting that "the series alone had some of the most incredible sets that I've ever seen in my life,...

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to become the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters since 2019, and one of the newcomers to the galaxy far, far away is the legendary Sigourney Weaver. No stranger to science fiction herself, Weaver is at this weekend's Star Wars Celebration convention in Tokyo, Japan. Collider's Steve Weintraub is there, too, and he had a chance to talk to Weaver about her character in the film. Weaver discussed her character, whose name has yet to be revealed, and how she relates to the titular bounty hunter and his young apprentice:

It’s not uncommon for Lucasfilm to bring the stars of Star Wars to the stage of the Star Wars Celebration fan festivals. But few expected an animatronic of The Mandalorian’s breakout character, Grogu, to step out and wave his hand alongside his costars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver.

Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan just gave us a thrilling peek at what’s next for our favorite bounty hunter and his tiny green sidekick. A teaser trailer for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, the upcoming film set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, leaked online shortly after its exclusive debut at the event. I couldn’t wait to dive into the details of this exciting reveal.
The leaked footage, which surfaced on platforms like X, showcases Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his adopted apprentice, Grogu, in a brand-new adventure. This marks the first Star Wars theatrical release since ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ in 2019, making it a big deal for fans like me who’ve been craving more big-screen stories from this galaxy far, far away.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the creator of ‘The Mandalorian’ series, the film promises to bring the same heart and action that made the Disney+ show a hit.

The character, who is voiced by The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, will be making his live-action, silver screen debut next summer when The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives in theaters on May 22, 2026.

The debut footage for the first Star Wars movie in seven years has now been seen by fans.
Lucasfilm and Disney revealed the first-look at The Mandalorian & Grogu, the Star Wars film spun off from Disney+’s The Mandalorian TV series, at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan. Jon Favreau, who directed the movie and co-wrote it with Star Wars guru Dave Filoni, were on hand to introduce it.
In the action-heavy footage, the audience sees snowtroopers inside an At-at preparing to engage in battle. Then, in what appears to be a sort of homage to the opening of the original 1977 movie, in which Rebels prepared for, and then were massacred by, invading stormtroopers, the Mandalorian cuts open into the hull of the At-at, then, in one continuous take, blasts, stabs, pyros, and fights his way through the snowtroopers, making his way through the hull and then hallway, ending at the door of the cockpit,...

Back in 1984, Troma Entertainment brought the world The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here), a film about “the first superhero from New Jersey.” That film spawned a franchise, leading to The Toxic Avenger Part II (1989), The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989), Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000), a stage musical, and an animated series called Toxic Crusaders. For a long time, we’ve been hearing that Troma wanted to make a Toxic Avenger 5 – but instead doing that, they have loaned out the rights to Legendary Pictures, allowing them to make a remake of the original film that’s set to reach theatres on August 29th, courtesy of Cineverse. In anticipation of the film’s long-awaited release, we have put together a list of Everything We Know About the Toxic Avenger Remake… and here we go:

After years without a distributor, Peter Dinklage’s Toxic Avenger is finally coming out. And what’s more, we have a trailer to enjoy.
After a couple of years of uncertainty, Macon Blair’s adaptation of The Toxic Avenger is finally headed towards general release. Whilst the film did make a brief appearance back in 2023 with a teaser trailer, but the film is reportedly very violent – so violent in fact that it struggled to find a US distributor in 2023. We got a brief teaser for the film, and since then, nothing.
However, Blair is a talented director having helmed the Netflix thriller I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore to very positive notices. Likewise, the film’s star Peter Dinklage has raised the quality bar on many a project too, so hopes were always high that eventually somebody would swoop in to pick up the film for distribution...

While Disney+ was a success when it launched in 2019, it didn't take the House of Mouse long to reach a point where spending hundreds of millions of dollars on content wasn't paying off when it came to attracting new, paying subscribers.
Since taking over as Disney CEO from Bob Chapek, Bob Iger has concluded that there's more money to be made in theaters and, so far, he's been proven correct.
The Moana TV series was transformed into a movie that grossed over $1 billion last year and the highly anticipated Lilo & Stitch has gone from being a streaming title to a theatrical release. As for The Mandalorian season 4, that's now The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The movie was filmed in California and, like the TV series, made use of the Volume to cut down on pricey location shoots.

"Just dome dude with a mop!" Cineverse has unveiled a fresh 2025 teaser for the highly anticipated horror remake of The Toxic Avenger, finally set to hit theaters this August. Many of you will recall hearing about this before - we posted a teaser back in 2023 when it premiered at Fantastic Fest & Beyond Fest that year. It has been in release limbo ever since, apparently "unreleasable" due to its gore & graphic content. But after a two year wait - it's time to unleash Toxie on all the haters out there! The original The Toxic Avenger from 1984 is a Lloyd Kaufman / Troma horror cult classic, introducing the world to one of the most iconic mutant heroes "Toxie". Many sequels were made, and spin-offs, but now Troma has teamed up with Legendary for a brand new take. Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze (starring Peter Dinklage), who is...

The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger has arrived and it's violent, weird, and unhinged...which we're guessing is pretty much everything you'd want from a movie featuring the beloved Troma Entertainment cult hero.
Despite receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews at film festivals in 2023 (the movie has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes), it's been a battle to get The Toxic Avenger into theaters and, when it is finally released this summer, it will be unrated.
Based on the jaw-dropping gore - that's not hyperbole; someone literally loses their jaw here - it's not exactly hard to see why this movie didn't receive an R or even Nc-17 rating from the MPAA.
"The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature," director Macon Blair recently said, "with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon's look, while also trying to do something new...

The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff has addressed her role as Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian & Grogu. The first Star Wars film since 2019 is due in theaters on May 22, 2026, but details about the film are being kept under wraps. While Pedro Pascal is expected to return as Din Djarin, other members of the cast include Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne. Bo-Katan Kryze didn’t make her debut in The Mandalorian until the second season in 2020, but she has since been a staple, even taking control of the Darksaber from Din Djarin in Season 3. During a recent panel at Indiana Comic Con attended by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, Sackhoff was asked if she had put on the armor recently to suit up for The Mandalorian & Grogu, and she responded with a sly answer:...

We recently got word that Macon Blair's remake of low-budget Troma classic, The Toxic Avenger, is finally going to hit theaters later this year, and we now have a first official poster for the movie (via AVClub.com).
The Toxic Avenger actually debuted its first trailer back in October of 2023 before completely dropping off the radar. Fans have been wondering about the status of the movie ever since, and earlier this year, a report claimed that the gory splatter-fest - which has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes - had been deemed "unreleasable" and "not safe enough to market."
Well, one distributor was willing to take a chance on Toxie, as Cinerverse and Bloody Disgusting recently announced that the movie will get a theatrical release at some point in 2025 (an exact date has not been disclosed).

The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger remake was dropped way back in October 2023. Few updates followed that sneak peek, though reviews from various film festivals were largely positive.
Last year, we heard that director Macon Blair's movie - starring Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as the character - had been deemed "unreleasable." Things looked bleak, only for it to have since been revealed that an unrated cut will hit theaters later this year.
Entertainment Weekly (via FearHQ.com) has confirmed it's coming on August 29 and we also have a first look at the movie's titular Toxic Avenger. That's not Dinklage, though, as Luisa Guerreiro - an actor and movement artist - donned the extensive makeup and prosthetics for Toxie's physical performance.

Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) slowly unveiled his sinister plan over the course of the three seasons of The Mandalorian. However, in the third season finale, Gideon and his Force-sensitive cloning facility seemingly went up in flames due to the efforts of Din Djarin and his fellow Mandalorians. At SXSW yesterday, it was confirmed that Walt Disney Imagineering's Bdx droids won't just be roaming Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland and Disney World. As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, they're going to make their big screen debut in The Mandalorian and Grogu next year!
