Marco Cortesi is an actor and director. A graduate of the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, he developed his theatrical production as a soloist in civic theater, alternating his work as a writer and television actor. His theater works, born from careful investigative research, include "The Women of Pola," a monologue on the war in former Yugoslavia, now a documentary film; "The Executioner," a documentary on the true story of France's last executioner; and "The Choice," four true stories from the Bosnian conflict (available in its video adaptation on Amazon Prime Video).
He also wrote and starred in the film "Rwanda," directed by Riccardo Salvetti, presented at the 75th Venice Film Festival in collaboration with Le Giornate degli Autori (now available on Amazon Prime Video). He is the author of "Die Mauer - Il Muro," about the history of the Berlin Wall, sponsored by the Council of Europe. Adapted into a documentary film directed by Riccardo Salvetti, "Die Mauer - Il Muro" aired in prime time on RAI to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (and is now available on Amazon Prime Video). Among the latest projects: the Mediaset TV series "Green Storytellers" on environmental sustainability (three seasons - 22 episodes), the film "Edith - Una ballerina all'inferno" directed by Marco Zuin (a winner of the 2022 Giffoni Film Festival), the show "Come ti salvo il Pianeta" (How I Save the Planet), an investigation into climate change and green best practices, and "Fango" (Mud), an investigation into Italy's most dramatic climate disaster, which has been adapted into a podcast, a stage play, and a TV series for Mediaset Infinity.
