Biography

    • John A. Corso, a New York City native, possesses twenty-eight years of entertainment industry experience with achievements on successful major motion pictures, screenplays, TV programs, commercials, and music videos as Producer, Director, Cinematographer and Author.

Corso filmed the historic debut of the Ramones and Talking Heads at Max's while still in his teens.

A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Film School, and an award-winning student, Corso earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Producing and Directing.

Notably, and perhaps, the youngest Cinematographer to be accepted into membership in the Cinematographer's Guild as Director of Photography, Corso achieved substantial feature credentials as DP in his early twenties. Now a veteran Cinematographer of worldwide reputation, Corso was one of the original pioneers in the unique art of Steadicam Cinematography under the tutelage of its Oscar-winning inventor.

Corso produced, directed and filmed "shock-jock" Howard Stern in a series of TV spots for Stern's wildly successful first pay-per-view special. Stern told David Letterman in an appearance on his show: "Our director was really great!"

Corso directed "Blood Circus", a science fiction cult favorite, and has served as Second Unit Director on a number of feature films with many additional uncredited First and Second Unit directing assignments. He filmed the Oscar-nominated documentary "Spaces: The Architecture of Paul Rudolph".

Corso received praise from the Hollywood Reporter for his "excellent" Steadicam Cinematography on Joe Dante's "Matinee". The New York Times lauded the poignant dream sequences Corso filmed foretelling the demise of Detective Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) in his final season on "NYPD Blue".

Corso's career highlights include: "The First Wives' Club", "Fatal Attraction", "Gremlins 2", "Funny Farm", "Rounders", "Matinee", "The Odd Couple Movie", "Ghostbusters 2", "Lassie", "Clockers", "Get On the Bus!", "American Buffalo", "The Memoirs of Sally Hemmings", "Searching for Bobby Fischer".

His television credits include: "NYPD Blue", "Spin City", "The Frank Sinatra Story", "New York Undercover", "The Law & Harry McGraw", "Murder She Wrote".

Corso is also the Co-Founder of East Hampton studios, an independent large-scale motion picture and TV production studio located in East Hampton, New York.
