Bad Company

Eligible since 2000 (first time on ballot). Nominees are Boz Burrell, Simon Kirke, Mick Ralphs, Paul Rodgers. Songs include "Can't Get Enough," "Feel Like Makin' Love," and "Shooting Star."

The Black Crowes

Eligible since 2016 (first time on ballot). Nominees are Jeff Cease, Johnny Colt, Marc Ford, Steve Gorman, Eddie Harsch, Chris Robinson, Rich Robinson. Songs include "Hard to Handle," "She Talks to Angels," and "Jealous Again."

Mariah Carey

Eligible since 2016 (second time on ballot). Solo artist. Songs include "Vision of Love," "Emotions," and "Hero."

Chubby Checker

Eligible since 1986 (first time on ballot). Solo artist. Songs include "The Twist," "Limbo Rock," and "Let's Twist Again.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has named 14 music legends as performer nominees for induction in its 2025 class.

The nominees for 2025 are Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Maná, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.

Eight of the 14 nominees are appearing on the ballot for the first time: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast, and Phish.

Ballots will now be sent to an international voting panel consisting of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame selection criteria “include an artist’s impact on other musicians, the scope and longevity of their career and body of work, as well as their innovation and excellence in style and technique.”

Honorees will be announced in April, with the annual induction ceremony set for the fall in Los Angeles.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had its most-watched induction ceremony ever on New Year’s Day, with ABC’s primetime special hitting an average 4.6 million viewers.

That’s a 49% increase from the year before, when the induction ceremony reached 3.1 million viewers. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony also improved its rating among the key adults age 18-49 demographic, nabbing a 0.5 — up 39% from the 0.36 achieved in 2023, and tying the show’s best demo rating in 20 years, since March 21, 2004.

In addition to setting personal bests, the three-hour special also became the most-watched primetime entertainment program on broadcast television in six years, since Jan. 1 2019.

Zendaya and Dua Lipa channelled their inner ‘Dark Lady’ on the red carpet as Cher was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Lipa joined the pop music legend in a performance of her 1998 single ‘Believe’, and Zendaya took the stage for her induction, which airs Jan. 1 on ABC.

Liam Payne was remembered on Saturday evening during this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.

The former One Direction turned solo performer died on Wednesday after he fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has rolled out a list of performers and presenters for the ceremony set to stream live on Oct. 19, with actor Julia Roberts, hip-hop producer Dr. Dre, pop superstar Dua Lipa and country luminaries Keith Urban and Jelly Roll among those slated to pay tribute to the 2024 inductees next month in Cleveland.

As is its fashion, the Hall often does not distinguish in advance between those who will perform live and those who will offer induction speeches, leaving fans guessing about not just that but who will be honoring who. In many cases it’s easy to connect the dots, though, as when Jimmy Buffett’s longtime band member Mac McAnally and frequent duet partner Kenny Chesney are slated to show up in the year Buffett is being inducted.

Blues and rock musician John Mayall, the “godfather of British blues” whose bands included some of the most well-known and virtuosic rock musicians of the past 50 years, died on Monday at the age of 90.

“It is with heavy hearts that we bear the news that John Mayall passed away peacefully in his California home yesterday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family,” his family confirmed in a statement Tuesday. “Health issues that forced John to end his epic touring career have finally led to peace for one of this world’s greatest road warriors.

John Mayall, the newly minted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer whose group the Blues Breakers helped nurture many British music legends including Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and several future members of Fleetwood Mac, died Monday in California. He was 90.

His family released a statement on social media confirming the news but gave few details other than citing “health issues.”

According to ‘Variety’, the diverse list includes R&b/rock pioneer Big Mama Thornton, pop superstars Cher and Dionne Warwick, as well as 1970s-rooted rockers like Peter Frampton, Foreigner, and Ozzy Osbourne, alongside 1990s icons such as the Dave Matthews Band and Mary J. Blige.

Jimmy Buffett’s inclusion among the inductees comes as a surprise. His entry is unexpected not only because the late singer/songwriter was not on the ballot this year but also because he had never been nominated before.

Ginger Baker, the innovative drummer for supergroups Cream and Blind Faith, died at the age of 80, according to The New York Times. "We are very sad to say that Ginger has passed away peacefully in hospital this morning," his family announced on Twitter. "Thank you to everyone for your kind words over the past weeks."

Baker was one of rock’s most influential drummers. He played with the ferocity of Keith Moon while incorporating jazz and African percussive rhythms. He played for artists as varied as Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Johnny Rotten and Fela Kuti.

Ginger Baker, the volatile musician widely acknowledged as one of the greatest drummers in rock ‘n roll history, died today at age 80. His death was confirmed by his family via Twitter.

“We are very sad to say that Ginger has passed away peacefully in hospital this morning,” said the tweet. Daughter Nettie confirmed that Baker died in Britain but gave no further details. The family had said late last month that he was critically ill in the hospital.

Baker was an integral part of the power trio Cream, joining with guitarist Eric Clapton and bassist Jack Bruce to forge a propulsive sound that became a standard for blues rock. Baker was a key component, wielding his jazz background into the mix to drive an intricate style.

As powerful as his drumming was, the red-haired and edgy Baker also forged a fearsome reputation off-stage, involved in numerous scraps with musicians and media.

The new film from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz man Edgar Wright stars Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Eliza Gonzalez, Cj Jones, Jon Bernthal, Lanny Joon, and Paul Williams which is a ridiculously good cast. Movie Synopsis

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

With the June 28 release date just a few weeks away, Sony Pictures has debuted a new preview for Baby Driver, which features the cast and writer-director Edgar Wright discussing how important the soundtrack truly is to this film. While the music is certainly an integral component to any movie, it was quite different with Baby Driver, as star Jon Hamm reveals that when he received the script, it also came with a thumb drive full of all the music that will be featured in the movie. The script itself was even written to all of these songs, in order, according to the filmmaker.

Sony Pictures India debuted this preview on YouTube, which features stars such as Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx discussing how the music complements the story. Edgar Wright also states that this story is about a young driver who cannot exist without music, while Ansel Elgort reveals that...

British musician Jack Bruce, best known as the bass player and vocalist of the power blues trio Cream, died Saturday at his home, his family and publicist said. He was 71. Bruce was one of the top musicians of the late 1960s, when Cream played its unique psychedelic blues tunes to packed houses in England and the U.S. The band - widely cited as the original supergroup - were known for hits such as "I Feel Free" and "Sunshine of Your Love," which featured Eric Clapton's innovative guitar riffs, and Bruce's vocals and roaring bass, backed by Ginger Baker's explosive drumming.
