Fresh off the film’s World Premiere at Fantasia, Lily-Hayes Kaufman’s documentary Occupy Cannes is next headed to the Sitges Film Festival this coming October.

Some of his most iconic works include a cycle of Vincent Price-led Edgar Allan Poe adaptations including 1960's House of Usher, 1961's The Pit and the Pendulum, and 1964's The Masque of the Red Death.

The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs has returned for its sixth season on Shudder. While the show’s format has been slightly revised — adopting a new biweekly schedule with one film instead of a double feature — the beloved horror host’s approach is much the same.

“It didn’t really change anything,” Briggs tells Bloody Disgusting. “We were crowding all of our movies into 10 weeks once a year and then having specials, and we found that people would rather have more weeks. It’s actually more movies than we had before.

“And some of the people on the East coast fall asleep in the second movie,” he laughs. “It’s about a five-hour show when it’s a double feature because we talk so much. Also, it’s hard to get thematic double features every single time.

The 1980s were full of robots, lasers, odd fashion choices, and teen films, including the now cult film Chopping Mall (watch it Here). In this 1986 sci-fi film, a group of teenage friends and mall workers end up stuck in the Mall after closing hours when a trio of security robots are deployed for the first time.

In the 80s, anything futuristic or with robots seemed to get greenlit with budgets of varying levels and quality of varying degrees. Some of these films took themselves very seriously, too seriously even. However, Chopping Mall was one of those films with the perfect mixture of low budget, the right talent in front of and behind the cameras, and the right level of seriousness to its content and how it was approached. The film doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it doesn’t go full-on goofy, either. There is a “just right” aspect...

But there’s one thing that we’ve lost in our post-rental store age: cool movie covers. Sure, Netflix will display algorithmically designed thumbnails, and trailers for movies play above Redbox kiosks. "Around 2007 I was in a quandry as to what to do with my 35mm trailer collection. Opportunities to screen this kind of material were pretty rare, even in Hollywood. So I thought, why not put them up on the internet? But that seemed underwhelming by itself, so I decided to add some voiceover commentaries on my own. I think the first ones I tackled were The Terror, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman  and The Unearthly. At first the idea was to mainly cover sci-fi and horror titles, but when a few of my friends got wind of the idea...

Martin Scorsese’s second feature assignment was produced by Julie Corman, following Aip’s success with Bloody Mama and Dillinger. It’s a kissing cousin to Bonnie and Clyde with mythic overtones of The Grapes of Wrath; the true story of two depression era train robbers whose violent exploits underscore the plight of railroad workers in the early 1930’s. HBO Max has given a script-to-series order to an adaptation of the classic children’s novel “The Westing Game,” the streamer announced Wednesday.

No writer or director is attached to the project, but HBO Max, along with producers MGM Television and Julie Corman, is “currently interviewing” candidates.

First published in 1978, Ellen Raskin’s “The Westing Game” is described as an “ensemble mystery-comedy” surrounding the death of millionaire Samuel Westing. The reading of Westing’s will sets in motion a game for his sixteen heirs unlike any other, the winners of which will walk away with his $200 million fortune.

The novel won the John Newbury Award for children’s literature in 1979 and was ranked number one on the list of the top 100 children’s novels of all time by School Library Journal in 2012.

“American Dad!” is returning for its sixteenth season Feb. 11 at 10 p.m. Et/ Pt on TBS. This season, show creator Seth McFarlane will return as the show’s central character Stan Smith, a CIA agent and loyal husband to his wife Francine (Wendy Schaal). Also returning are Stan’s two children, Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane) and her geeky brother Steve (Scott Grimes), as well as the family’s resident alien Roger (also voiced by Seth MacFarlane). Cormans’ Hollywood, a 13-episode documentary series teeming with archival footage and insights from seven decades of filmmaking by Roger Corman and his wife, Julie, has been set by Shout! Studios, Ace Film Hk Co. and Friendship Films.

Thirteen 50-minute episodes were shot over four months in La, drawing heavily on the library of the Cormans’ New Horizons Pictures, which Shout! and Ace acquired earlier this year. The series traces the Cormans’ trail-blazing path as independent producers, including their mentorship of young film talent who would go on to become Hollywood royalty.

There is a long list of A-listers who cut their teeth working with Roger Corman, producer of 350 films and director of 60 titles, including the likes of A Bucket of Blood, The Wild Angels and The Little Shop of Horrors. Among them are Jack Nicholson, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Ron Howard, Peter Fonda and Jonathan Demme.

Roger Corman is the B-movie king, a man who helped launch dozens of directors and actors ranging from Francis Ford Coppola and James Cameron, to Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson. His legacy is secure, but its ownership is in question: In March, Corman sold rights to the 270 films in his New Horizon Picture catalog in a joint deal with Shout! Factory and China’s Ace Film Hk. Two weeks later, Corman’s two sons filed a lawsuit challenging the sale, claiming their father and his wife, Julie Corman, didn’t have the right to sell the catalog because some of its titles belonged to The Pacific Trust, which Corman established to benefit his four children.

Prolific B-movie director/producer Roger Corman is being sued by his sons over plans to sell his 270-title New Horizon Pictures film library. The complaint, filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, also names as a respondent Corman’s wife of 48 years and longtime producing partner, Julie, along with Shout! Factory and Ace Film, the library’s intended buyers.

Roger Martin Corman and Brian Corman claim that their parents have no right to unload the catalog — which includes “The Little Shop of Horrors” and “Piranha” — because it is property of The Pacific Trust, established by the elder Cormans in 1978 for the benefit of their four children.

“You can’t sell what you don’t own,” Venable Llp partner Alex Weingarten, the lawyer representing the sons, told IndieWire.

The suit is part of an estate fight that has been going on for a decade. On March 15, Shout! Factory and China-based Ace Films announced they had purchased 270 titles from Roger and his wife, Julie Corman, for an undisclosed price.

The titles include “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School,” “Battle Beyond the Stars,” “Piranha,” “Galaxy of Terror,” “Bloodfist,” “Black Scorpion,” “Eat My Dust!,” “Humanoids From the Deep,” “The Slumber Party Massacre,” and “Forbidden World.”

The two Corman sons — Roger M. and Brian — allege that their mother has worked for more than 10 years to undermine their father’s estate plan, which was established to minimize tax liabilities. They contend that Roger, who is 91, and Julie have ignored their obligations to the trust set up for the children’s benefit.

Horror fans have had the pleasure of watching Shout! There are a pair of flat screen TVs on the wall, which are mercifully muted. A radio in some far-off corner of the kitchen can be heard playing inoffensive pop tunes of yesteryear. It is also the sort of quiet place where someone like Harris is well-known, well-liked, and referred to as “Mr. James” by the entire waitstaff. The impression is one of polite reverence and earned familiarity, built up over time and solidified through an appreciation of his impressive filmography, as well as his continued business.
