Biography

    • Philip Cook has written, directed, edited and/or photographed hundreds of commercials, films, program-opens and on-air IDs from clients ranging from The Washington Opera to MTV. He holds a degree from the University of Maryland in film production. His productions have won numerous awards, including a Clio, Tellies, Pollies, National Cine Eagles, Muse Award and numerous independent film festival awards.

      He has written fifteen screenplays. Two have been sold and six others have been produced.

      At the age of 24, he was writer/director of the feature film Star Quest that debuted on the SyFy Channel the first year it went live.

      He has written for several publications including American Cinematographer Magazine.

      In 1994 he directed the feature film Invader for producer Menahem Golan which ran on HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime as well as all over the world.

      In 1998 he wrote, directed and produced the direct to video feature Despiser that is in its fourth DVD release.

      Many of his animations are featured in the National Museum of the American Indian as well as the National Postal Museum.

      He has produced Malice, the groundbreaking original series that the Writers Guild of America has hot-listed as "the Web's Most Cutting Edge New Media Content." It can be viewed on Amazon. All three Malice movies are now being released as The Malice Trilogy.

      Cook's work is characterized by his commitment to original, high-concept storytelling that often fuses horror, fantasy, and science fiction. His films have garnered a cult following, particularly among fans of indie genre cinema.
