Kirsten Storms Reflects on ‘Days of Our Lives’ & Drake Hogestyn’s Death: ‘I Feel Like It’s Not Real’
Image
When Kirsten Storms joined Days of Our Lives as Belle Black in 1999, it marked a big shift in the landscape of the soap. As the daughter of one of the show’s most popular supercouples of all time, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), Belle and her pals, Shawn Brady (Jason Cook), Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson), Mimi Lockhart (Farah Fath) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), represented the next generation of Salem and were introduced at a time when teen-centric shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek were already popular with young audiences. For Storms, who had been performing in front of the camera for most of her life and had just filmed the now-beloved Disney film, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, joining the soap marked a significant pivot from her earlier roles. “That was a reality check for how hard actors work,” she recalls...

Is It The End of Belle and Shawn on Days of Our Lives?
Image
Belle and Shawn’s relationship on Days of Our Lives has been a long and complicated one, marked by young love, interference, betrayal, and numerous attempts at reconciliation. Here’s a detailed timeline:

The Early Years (1999-2004)

High School Sweethearts: Shawn-Douglas Brady (then Jason Cook) and Belle Black (then Kirsten Storms), the children of supercouples Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and John (the late Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), began their romance as teenagers at Salem High. They were depicted as deeply in love, experiencing typical high school milestones like romantic dates and school dances.

Jan Spears’ Interference: Their young love faced a significant challenge when Shawn’s classmate, Jan Spears (Heather Lindell), claimed he fathered her baby after a school trip to Puerto Rico (the baby was conceived through a rape). To protect Jan from further trauma, Shawn claimed paternity, devastating Belle and leading to their breakup.

T.J. Miller at an event for Yogi l'ours (2010)
T.J. Miller has signed on to star in the upcoming independent techno-thriller A.I. Heart U, written and directed by Jason Cook. The film, which explores artificial intelligence and its impact on human relationships, features an ensemble cast that includes Zach Gilford, Heather Morris, Kayla Compton, and Jonathan Kite.

Miller will portray Marco, an eccentric AI tech partner, in what the filmmaker describes as a cautionary tale about artificial intelligence. “This is a cautionary tale about AI, but framing it as a tool, not an inherent evil. This is a story about a bad guy enabled by AI, kinda like Faust,” Cook said.

The project is being produced by Cook alongside Trent Garret under their newly formed Blue Collar Productions. A.I. Heart U is the first of four planned films in a fully funded slate from the company. The production has been underway in Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon.

If you want to splinter bad television into its three categories—so bad it’s good, so bad it’s bad, and so bad it actually makes you hate the existence of television in the first place—Fox’s The Choice, gimmick of all TV gimmicks, fits so intently within the realm of shockingly stupid television that it’s a painful reminder of how low judgmental television has sunk. Answer: even lower than ABC’s vapid 2003 one-seasoner Are You Hot?, where an Entourage-esque band of bros (in this round, Jersey Shore fist-pumper Pauly D, Days of our Lives actor Jason Cook, retired skier Jeremy Bloom and retired rapper Romeo) choose wisely from a bevy of women who can’t say many words good, but that’s okay because this is all really in exercise in what cat-callin’ boys like: plump bums, busty breasts, and girls who exercise via stripper pole.

Take Me Out (2010)
'The Choice': Pauly D Tries To Unselect A Virgin
Take Me Out (2010)
Fox went for a one-two punch of campy dating shows, pairing "Take Me Out" with their not-so-subtle nod to NBC's hit singing competition. "The Choice" (Thu., 9 p.m. Et on Fox) is not "The Voice," but it does rhyme with it, and it does feature celebrities sitting in spinning chairs having to make a decision based on hearing only a person's voice.

Only on this show, hosted by Cat Deeley ("So You Think You Can Dance") with a great sense of humor and awareness of the silliness of the whole thing, the hour proved to be more fun than it may have at first appeared. Each week, a different batch of celebrities will sit in the chairs -- including perhaps a panel of ladies once or twice.

This week featured Romeo, soap star Jason Cook, Olympic skiier Jeremy Bloom and "Jersey Shore" star Pauly D. There was plenty of laughter...

'The Choice': DJ Pauly D and Romeo pull their 'love handles' for the ladies
The summer TV lineup is known for shows that give your brain a little vacation. And if your brain's idea of vacay is watching celebs like "Jersey Shore" star Pauly D uncomfortably judge overly caffeinated women based on what their voices sound like -- and how much the guys in the audience hoot and holler when they walk out on stage -- then Fox's new show "The Choice" is just for you.

The new reality series that marries NBC's "The Voice" with a shallow dating show (is there any other kind?) premieres Thursday (June 7) with Cat Deeley playing host to celebrity daters Pauly D, rapper Romeo, "Days of Our Lives" actor Jason Cook, and Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom. During the first Blind Choice round, the guys listen with their backs turned as a bevy of beauties come out one by one to regale them with tales of having "spontanuity" and a stripper pole,...

'The Choice' premiere: Cat Deeley gasps for air in a sea of trashy plastic dummies
Cat Deeley
She might have thought twice about wearing red leather pants while swimming.

First of all, the hideous dancing silhouettes have got to go. They don’t even match up to the women behind the doors! Get rid of them! (They were admittedly funny the first five times.)

Welcome to The Choice, Fox’s new six-part dating series that rhymes with The Voice and incorporates the same four “blind audition” chairs as the NBC show. The similarities end there. Here, four “celebrities” — this week: rapper Romeo, moguls skier Jeremy Bloom, soap star Jason Cook, and “household name” DJ Pauly D of...

TV Review: Fox Brings Back Dating Game Shows with ‘Take Me Out,’ ‘The Choice’
Chicago – Do you miss “The Dating Game”? Long for more shows like “Baggage” in primetime? Fox has two, Long hours for you in “Take Me Out” and “The Choice” — a pair of programs that seem designed to replicate what it’s like at a Wrigleyville bar at 1:45Am only you’re (probably) not drunk enough to find the nauseating banter and silly behavior entertaining.

TV Rating: 2.0/5.0

The night starts with “Take Me Out,” hosted by George Lopez, a bizarre hybrid of “1 vs. 100” and “The Dating Game.” A single bachelor stands in front of 30 eligible bachelorettes. The lovely ladies are at podiums with lights that can either be white (good) or red (bad). If they turn their white light off, they’re no longer interested in Mr. Right Now. They have multiple opportunities to turn off their lights, including based purely on appearance when the guy first comes out or...

The Choice – New Promo Spot And Full Celebrity List
The Choice: Cat Deeley hosts The Choice, the new celebrity dating game show with a twist premiering Thursday, June 7 (9:00-10:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox. 2012 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Mathieu Young/Fox

Under a new rhyming scheme spin-off model for new shows, you’ll soon be able to watch The Choice, and see celebrities submit themselves to a blind date experiment. It’s The Voice‘s “no see” format, but now eligible celebrities are choosing potential romantic partners.

It’s bound to be crazy, and some of the “celebrities” only have loose ties to the claim, but it certainly looks to be the sort of madness people will check out.

Is this show too much? Let me know your thoughts. This falls into a category of reality that I find hard to predict, and I’d love to know if people are looking forward to it.

Ever wanted your dating pool to include the likes of DJ Pauly D and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino? Well, dive on into the summer's guiltiest pleasure, "The Choice" on Fox. (And don't forget to wear a swim cap.)

Cat Deeley hosts as the celebrity bachelors -- and one episode with celebrity bachelorettes like Carmen Electra -- pick their dates based on their voices.

Here's how it works: The episodes begin with four celebs sitting in rotating chairs a la "The Voice." In this initial "Blind Round," each celebrity can only use his suitors' voices to make "The Choice." When the celebrity bachelor likes what he hears,...
