A great cast is the “best medicine” for a series, and that’s exactly what we have on Fox’s incoming new medical drama.
We previously expressed our excitement over the trio that would be landing Best Medicine. Josh Charles and Abigail Spencer are principled actors who have been on our screens for many years in some truly iconic roles.
And Josh Segarra is easily one of the most underrated actors in the game.

We know Josh Charles stars as Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child.

Fox is rounding out its cast for its upcoming medical comedy Best Medicine, based on the popular British series Doc Martin.
Didi Conn (Grease), Clea Lewis (American Rust), Stephen Spinella (Royal Pains), Jason Veasey (Only Murders in the Building), John Dimaggio (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), Carter Shimp (The Holdovers), Cindy De La Cruz (Blue Bloods) and pooch Wattson have been tapped for recurring roles. They join series regulars Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts, Josh Segarra and Cree.
Best Medicine is a one-hour comedy series that centers on Martin Best (Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, and he quickly alienates the town, even though he’s all they’ve got.

Be honest: did you secretly watch Grease 2 a million times as a kid? Sure, critics panned it when it hit theaters in 1982, but decades later it’s still finding new fans. Maybe it’s the gloriously cheesy songs, the neonsoaked 80s vibe, or Michelle Pfeiffer radiating star power before she became, well, Michelle Pfeiffer. Whatever the reason, Grease 2 carved out a permanent spot as a cult favorite.
Why Grease 2 Exists (And Still Matters)
The original Grease was a phenomenon — a smash hit no one saw coming. So, of course, Paramount wanted lightning to strike twice.

Few people likely remember Joseph Brooks' 1977 musical drama "You Light Up My Life." The film stars Didi Conn (who played Frenchy in the Olivia Newton-John classic "Grease") as Laurie Robinson, a children's show host and commercial performer who dreams of a singing career. She is engaged to be married to Ken (Stephen Nathan), but has a one-night fling with a random film director named Christopher Nolan. Weeks later, when Laurie goes to an audition, she finds Nolan might be her director. Awkward. She sings her latest opus, a little ditty called "You Light Up My Life," and everyone loves it. (The film's writer/director Brooks also penned the song.)
The rest of the movie is a turgid melodrama about Laurie's ambitions, her relationship with her father (a comedian whom she performs on TV kids shows with), her growing ambivalence toward her fiancé, and her new potential romance with Nolan. The movie is,...

Sing-a-longs are fun events that have been around for ages. Not only do they serve as a dose of nostalgia, jamming to your favorite tunes in a space with hundreds (or even thousands) of other fans in unison, but they're also simply a fun event to experience. When you attend, you're thinking about a few things: should you dress up as a character from the musical/film or an artist? Are you prepared to lose your voice from belting out the words? Or what if the artist shows up? For that last question, Grease fans at the Hollywood Bowl Grease Sing-a-Long got the surprise of a lifetime from John Travolta, aka bad boy Danny Zuko himself!
There's always a small thought that comes to your mind of "what if" the artist/star of the film makes an appearance, but you're really just there for a good time. So when that happens,...

Hollywood legend John Travolta shocked a capacity crowd at the Hollywood Bowl’s annual Grease Sing-a-Long on 27 June by walking onstage in full Danny Zuko regalia—black leather jacket, cuffed jeans and a carefully coiffed wig—after spending weeks keeping the cameo secret from both organisers and former co-stars.
The 70-year-old actor greeted original castmates Didi Conn, Barry Pearl, Michael Tucci and Kelly Ward with hugs before leading the audience in a raucous “We Go Together” chant. “No one knew. Not even the cast,” he later wrote on Instagram, posting video of the moment to his 6.6 million followers.
Social-media footage shows the sing-along screening briefly pausing as fans erupted in cheers; Entertainment Weekly likened the reaction to “lightning in a bottle.” The Bowl’s outdoor movie night, hosted each summer since 2005, invites patrons to dress as T-Birds or Pink Ladies and belt lyrics projected beneath the shell’s iconic arches.

Filmmaker Lisa Downs has gradually been building up quite the collection of movie nerd documentaries. She’s made Life After Flash, Life After The Navigator and Life After The Neverending Story to date, where she tracks down those involved in Flash Gordon, Flight Of The Navigator and The Neverending Story and brings their stories up to date.
Her next project? Life After Grease, which – as the title suggests – sees her talking to those involved in the movie, and capturing their stories. She’s already got Grease director Randal Kleiser involved, and has filmed interviews with assorted members of the cast and crew.
There are still some interviews to capture, and the film to edit into shape, and so Lisa – as an independent filmmaker – has launched a Kickstarter...

"I'm starting to think I am better at being in the closet." Prime Video has revealed the official trailer for a comedy series called Overcompensating, arriving to watch in May this summer season. This fun LGBTQ series follows Benny, a football player, as he struggles to accept his own sexuality in college, finding himself overcompensating as he tries to appear as something he's not. Reminds me of the film we posted a trailer for recently called Riley. The series is created by and also stars actor Benito Skinner, his first time creating & writing a series in addition to appearing in it. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”

“Overcompensating,” the ensemble college comedy from Prime Video, added Megan Fox and James Van Der Beek as guest stars on Tuesday.
The semi-biographical comedy series follows closeted former football star Benny, played by creator Benito Skinner, as he attempts to discover his true identity while also trying to fit in with his peers. Along the way, Benny makes bold mistakes, juggles horrible hook-ups and yet still manages to find the fun.
“Overcompensating” also added additional guest stars Lukas Gage (“Companion”), Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”), Matt Rogers (“No Good Deed”), Didi Conn (“Harlan Coben’s Shelter”), Rachel Matthews (“Upgraded”), Danielle Perez (“The Night Agent”), Boman Martinez Reid and Yasmine Sahid.
In the first trailer for the series, Fox gives Benny advice, as herself, from his poster on the wall, while Yang and Rogers share an intimate moment as Benny shuffles away. Plus, Van Der Beek gives Benny some tough love...

Image Source: Paramount Pictures Back in 1978, Grease took the world by storm, dominating the box office and solidifying its place as one of the most beloved movie musicals of all time. With catchy tunes, unforgettable dance numbers, and all the Danny-and-Sandy romance you could handle, it was a bonafide cultural phenomenon. Naturally, Paramount decided to ride that wave and greenlight a sequel. But here’s the twist—most of the original cast didn’t return for Grease 2, and the magic of Rydell High didn’t quite translate the second time around. The film flopped hard, pulling in less than 10% of what the original made at the box office. Ouch. Fast forward a few decades, and Grease 2 has managed to rewrite its narrative. It’s no longer just “that sequel no one went to see”—it’s a certified cult classic! From the catchy “Cool Rider” anthem to the...

The most notorious Grease fan theory suggests that Olivia Newton-John's Sandy is in fact dying throughout the movie and the infamous teenage love story is no more than a fantasy. Starting out as a raunchier stage play than the eventual adaptation, Randal Kleiser's 1950s set high-school musical was a mostly grounded navigation through the struggles of typical teenage years. While it has its moments of fantasy, the ending, in which Danny and Sandy fly off to their hopeful future always felt like it didn't belong.
That ending's weirdness and one particularly pertinent line from Grease's first big musical number is exactly why a compelling fan theory suggested a grim undercurrent to the iconic musical. The theory posits that Sandy never made it off the beach, never fell in love with Danny, and never sewed herself into...

A theory suggests that Sandy died at the start of Grease, and the rest of the movie is her imagined version of her senior year with Danny Zuko. A popular theory proposes that George McFly knew Marty was his son in Back to the Future, as there are clues throughout the movie that indicate his realization. Another classic theory argues Ned Ryerson, Phil's former schoolmate in Groundhog Day, could be the culprit
A good movie theory can completely change audiences' view of the story question, from speculation based on on-screen clues to imaginative, complex theories that go way beyond the film itself. On one hand, movie theories can be frustrating, as, depending on the franchise, they will never be fully confirmed or debunked. On the other hand, even without canon answers, theorizing about popular films is always fun, especially when the theory completely changes the meaning of the story.

Grease was already “retro” when the film came out in 1978, immersing itself (minus one infamous spandex outfit) in the look and culture of the 1950s. Yet the movie still has a huge audience today, and one of the Pink Ladies, Didi Conn, thinks it’s because — although times may have changed — some of the movie’s themes are timeless, especially when it comes to teenage love. Shelter is the newest addition to the on-screen Harlan Coben Universe. A Young Adult-skewing eight-part thriller, it’s the story of high schooler Mickey Bolitar, who’s recently moved from overseas to his dad’s hometown of Kasselton, New Jersey, where he and his new friends investigate the disappearance of a fellow student. Like any Harlan Coben series, it takes place in a heightened world peopled by memorable villains, shock twists, cliff-hangers, and mysteries that change shape multiple times before they’re solved.
Mickey Bolitar is the star of three novels by Coben – a spin-off trilogy from his hit 11-part book series about Mickey’s uncle Myron Bolitar. Netflix has the rights to that character, so don’t expect to find an actor playing him in the cast rundown below. Here’s more on the actors telling this story.

If you’re a Grease fan who saw the original film in the theater back in the day and has fond memories of singing We Go Together on your way out of the theater, you may want to skip the following sentence: Believe it or not, the iconic movie adaptation of the stage musical opened in theaters 45 years ago. Of course, back in 1978, the movie was set in the past, so it had a feel of sentimentality to it — well, at least until Olivia Newton-John’s stunning transformation at the end. But Didi Conn, who played Frenchy in the film, says that even with the film now set more than six decades in the past, the story still has plenty of relevance in 2023. A hilarious revelation compares the cast ages of the Pink Ladies in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies to the actresses of the original girl group featured in the 1978 film. The iconic pink jacket has been taken out of reserve, but this time to adorn a more assorted set of young high schoolers whose songs, dances, and distinctive portraits have been woven together to recount the origins of the Pink Lady syndicate. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies encompasses the nostalgic 1950s even now, and many aspects of the series evoke the fervor of Grease despite the passage of time.

Michelle Pfeiffer, who starred in Grease 2, passionately defends the sequel after her feelings toward it were misrepresented. Grease 2 is the 1982 musical follow-up to 1978's Grease, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. The sequel featured minimal returning cast members, with Pfeiffer taking the lead alongside Maxwell Caulfield. However, Grease 2 failed to impress, with many seeing it as a lackluster retread of ideas from the first film.
Pfeiffer took to Instagram to defend Grease 2 after she saw herself being misquoted about the film. Her story features a screenshot of an article with her name misspelled alongside quotes attributed to the actor disparaging the film. Pfeiffer quickly points out that the quote is inaccurate, instead speaking on how much the movie ultimately meant to her. Check out Pfeiffer's passionate defense of Grease 2 below:

“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” might not spotlight characters from the original 1978 film like Didi Conn’s Frenchy or Stockard Channing’s Rizzo, but it does set the stage for their impending reign on Rydell High.
Though tampering with any reiteration of the cultural cornerstone that is “Grease” has proven unsuccessful in the past, showrunner Annabel Oakes was clearly up for the challenge. So, how does one begin to cast the characters for a prequel television series based on the beloved movie? Casting directors Leigh Ann Smith and Conrad Woolfe of Indigo Casting accredit showrunner Oakes’ clear vision.
“[Oakes] had lived in that world with these characters for so long,” Smith tells Variety. Adds Woolfe, “We didn’t necessarily feel pressure [casting these characters] because Oakes had done such an incredible job of expanding the universe in her imagination before we even came to the table to do the casting.”

Just how close is the new Paramount+ prequel series “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” connected to the beloved 1978 film “Grease?” Pretty close, as it turns out, considering two characters from “Grease” make appearances in the TV show.
Now streaming on Paramount+, “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” takes place four years before the events of “Grease,” before the T-Birds are the coolest guys in school, and before the Pink Ladies even exist. The story centers on Jane (Marisa Davila), Olivia (Cheyenne Isabel Wells), Cynthia (Ari Notartomaso) and Nancy (Tricia Fukuhara), a group of misfits at Rydell, who eventually just lean into the reputations they’ve been given.
They’re the ones who pave the way for the future Pink Ladies we know and love: Rizzo, Frenchie, Marty and Jan. But, as it happens, two of those ladies do get an appearance in this show, because one has a direct...

The Grease prequel series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, reveals its first image. Created by Annabel Oakes, the new series brings viewers back in time to the hallways of Rydell High school in the year 1954. Originally a musical, Grease was adapted for the big screen in 1978, starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John. An unlikely couple, Grease follows Newton-John's girl-next-door Sandy and Travolta's greaser bad boy Danny as they work together to make their relationship survive the harsh judgments of their peers, and break the status quo of high school stereotypes. While Grease the movie was a major success, its sequel Grease 2, struggled to follow in the same footsteps. However, a new prequel series is set to revive the franchise.

It’s no longer “Summer Nights,” but that’s not going to stop “Dancing with the Stars” from doing a “Grease” Night. The remaining 11 couples will perform to tunes from the iconic musical on Monday because the show is hopelessly devoted to theme nights.
You’ve got all the usual suspects from “Grease” and will be treated to a double dose of one song: Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev will perform their Viennese waltz to “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” while JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson will foxtrot to the reprise. For the first time this season, the Charleston will be performed — Suni Lee and Sasha Farber will do one to “Born to Hand Jive.” The other dance styles are foxtrot, jive, Viennese waltz, rumba and quickstep.
See the full list of dances below.
Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater: foxtrot (“Sandy”)

Prepare to feel pleasantly nostalgic, as the beloved locomotive with the slightly creepy face, Thomas the Tank Engine, is chugging his way back onto the big screen courtesy of Mattel Films and Marc Forster's production company 2Dux². Described as a mixture of CGI and live-action akin to Alvin and the Chipmunks and Detective Pikachu, the script for the new take on Thomas & Friends is ready to go with director Marc Forster on board to helm the project.
"Thomas has been a personal favorite of mine since childhood," said Marc Forster. "I couldn't be more excited to be working with Robbie and the entire team at Mattel, and embarking on this beautiful journey with such a timeless property."
Forster is best known for directing the apocalyptic action horror World War Z starring Brad Pitt and the twenty-second movie in the James Bond franchise and second starring Daniel Craig, Quantum of Solace.
