Author and poet, educated in public schools and at Columbia University and Trinity College (Dublin). He came to the USA in 1914, and was a member of the Academy of Irish Letters, the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He authored the poems "Wild Earth", "The Story of Lowry Maen", and "Creatures", and the plays "The King of Ireland's Son", "The Adventures of Odysseus", "Tale of Troy", and "Balloon", and the essay "A Half-Day's Ride". His autobiography is "Vive Moi". He received both the Gregory Medal and the Regina Medal, and awards from the Academy of American Poets, the Academy of Irish Letters, the Boston Arts Festival, and the Catholic Library Association. Joining ASCAP in 1950, he authored the following poems set to music: "O Men from the Field", "An Old Woman of the Roads", "Songs from Connacht", "Wild Earth", "Creatures", and "Old Pastures".
