An incredibly raw and versatile talent, displaying the effortless ability to create memorable characters that feel like a complete thought, each one unique unto itself. Actor, Daniel Collins has the uncanny ability to alter his image and persona completely, playing anything from a clean cut police officer to a drugged out human trafficker. Born in Los Angeles, California on October 4th, 1974. Son of American documentary film maker Michael Collins and British mother, Jeannie Collins(Lumley), who worked in the music industry for over 40 years. Grandson to writer/producer Richard J. Collins, known for his work on Bonanza, Matlock, and countless other film and TV titles, and his Grandmother, Blacklisted actress, Dorothy Commingore, known most notably for her role as Susan Alexander Kane in none other than the highly lauded Orson Welles classic, Citizen Kane.
As a young boy he worked with then UCLA film student, Michael Lehmann, doing three of his student films, including the infamous "Beaver Gets a Boner", which resulted in Lehmann directing "Heathers". Daniel somewhat reluctantly joined the ranks of Hollywood actors as a child, when he was discovered at a breakdancing class in the 1980's, landing roles on TV shows like Northern Exposure, and made for TV movies. Working with Stars such as Jonathan Winters, Whoopi Goldberg, and Tobey Maguire to name a few. He was offered the role of John Connor in the 1991 blockbuster "Terminator 2" by well respected and casting director Mali Finn, on one condition, that he cut his long hair for the role. Being young and stubborn, Daniel declined to cut his hair, and gave up the role. His agent at the time also warned him not to get any more tattoos because it would limit his roles. It was then that he decided to take a break from acting, and focused on his underground artwork which has taken him all over the world with shows in Japan, England, Europe and all over the US.
Daniel returned to acting in 1994 with a role in the cult classic "The Stöned Age" directed by James Melkonian. He continued to book commercial and modeling gigs for many years, while continuing to create original art, working as a professional tattoo artist and building world famous custom cars and motorcycles. After another self imposed hiatus from film, after moving to a ranch near Joshua Tree California, he returned to acting once again in 2021, doing on screen work as well as voice acting. At least two new feature films starring Daniel are in production as well as a handful of other projects and shorts in development. He is still living in Southern California and is father to a daughter, born in September 2021.
