Dwayne "DC" Coles was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to Delores & William Coles. As young guy, DC made a few home made films on his 8 millimeter camera he bought with money he earned as a newspaper boy. having studied martial arts, played sports, etc. While attending J. F. Kennedy HS, in Totowa, New Jersey. "DC" had a dream of being the first black martial artist who truly knew How to Act. He figured out how to achieve this -he needed to study acting. he joined the legendary theatre company troupe The Inner City Ensemble, a company comprised of inner city teenagers who where professionally trained in the arts, and toured the USA. After graduating from inner City Ensemble. "DC" then attended William Paterson University with a major in Theatre Arts/Psychology. however "DC" decided he needed to hit the pavement running, so he took a leave from college, and studied acting at famed NYC school acting institution HB Studios under the guidance of Carol Rosenfeld, being a candidate for studies under Utah Hagens, "DC" then went to act in numerous low budget indie films, toured the whole mid west in an acting troupe, and was up for a leading role in Frances Ford Copalla's "Casualities of War"; Dwayne was one of 4 called back out of thousands for the role in this film and auditioned by Frances Ford Colappa himself. Frustrated with being type-cast as the thug, cop type roles, DC was called on by a friend to visit the set of a music video, a new passion was born. deciding that was his next step. he then went to study at center for the media Arts in NYC, upon graduating DC had done his first few music videos for local dance labels, his first being budgeted at only $1,500 (which he helped finance). DC went on to direct/produce over 75plus music videos such as MobStyle, Homeless Prince, Boonie Byrd and numerous others. Eventually being introduced to famed producer Teddy Riley, he got his opportunity to direct/produce his first 'major' video, for BlackStreet's "Baby be Mine" (remix) for MCA Records off the "CB4" soundtrack, and later went on from there to direct and/or produce music videos for such major artists as Destiny's Child, Jay Z, Sudden Change, Shabba Ranks, Terror Fabulous, Spragga Benz, Capleton feat MethodMan, Riff, 411, Steps, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Paula Perry, II D Extreme feat. Cormega-Gina Thompson-and Rodney Jerkins, FOD, Chris Weber, Do or Die, Lil' O feat Destiny's Child., lady of Rage, Daz Dillenger,Snoop Dog Baby D, Fox and Mayhem, daz efx, naughty By nature, Lil' Italy feat. Silk Tha Shocka, and numerous others. DC has had 2 of his videos nominated for Best Rap Videos of the Year by Billboard, for JT Money feat. Sole' "Who Dat", and Lady of Rage feat. Run DMC "Get wit the wickedness" DC also served as executive producer for super producer Teddy Riley's film/ video production company Funky Mama Films. New on the horizon are his Feature film "The Bahama Hustle" feat. Ed Lover and Dr. dre due out January 4th 2005, (to also air on cable's Starz On Demand) "East New York" feat. Remy Ma and Killah priest. Recently wrapped production on his first Latin action film "A Diamon N the Ruff" feat. Aida Ortiz. the film he co-produced "What goes around comes right back around" has won Best Urban Film at the NY Film festival. DC also was one of the writers on the feature film "I wish i had a house like this" with Capone and noreaga, Jermaine Hopkins, and d.don. Look out for music videos for new r&b sensation male group from Florida Deep- Side ("Shook" and "Fantasizing")....Kool G. rap "Gully" (co-produced) and numerous others. "DC's Feature Film directing/producing/ writing debut for the urban action flick "Secret Indictment" made a splash on the streets, "Secret Indictment2" is next up from the director, producer, writer, actor.
