  • Got the nickname of "Doogie Howser" (after the TV character who began college at a young age) because she was attending the University of Miami International School of Business at age 14, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting as well as receiving her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1993 at age 22.
  • While waiting to take the Bar (to become a lawyer), she was asked to fill in at a television station for an anchor who was on maternity leave. She enjoyed it so much that she decided to seek a future in Journalism, although she did later take and pass the bar.
  • Received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow National Award in 2002 for her coverage of the 11 September 2001 attacks.
  • Received the Gracie Allen Award for investigative reporting in 2000.
  • Received the Clarion Award from the Association for Women in Communications, and was named Television Week's "Rising News Star To Watch."
  • Her brother, Jonathan T. Colby, is a Miami Dade County circuit court judge in Florida.
  • Joined Fox News Channel (FNC) in July 2003 and currently works as a national news correspondent and anchor.
  • Former law professor, a member of Law Review and has been a National Board member of American Women in Radio and Television for the last several years.
  • Has a Yorkie named Matty.
  • Release of her book, "Back to Life After a Heart Crisis: A Doctor and His Wife Share Their 8-Step Cardiac Comeback Plan" by Jamie, Marc K. Wallack and Alisa Bowman. (February 2010)
