Multicon Will Bring in Big Stars for L.A. Wildfire Benefit, Donate Now
Image
Every day brings an onslaught of distracting news and controversies, and it's easy to forget yesterday's tragedy and simply move on to tomorrow's in a case of "disaster amnesia." This "flooding the zone," as Steve Bannon calls it, is intentionally designed to overwhelm people, so it's important to focus on the tangible problems we can all actually help. One of them is the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed more than 18,000 homes and structures, burned more than 57,000 acres of land, and killed at least 29 people. A new charity benefit, Multicon, is bringing together creative artists of all kinds to help raise money to rebuild homes and help people who are really in need. It's happening on Feb. 22 at The Preserve LA and you can get tickets and information here. You can find other ways to help at the bottom of the article.

According to Variety, one of the event's sponsors,...

Lifetime’s ‘Trapped in the Spotlight’ Finds Music in Sisterhood [Review]
Image
Trapped in the Spotlight, the new Lifetime film about the tumultuous relationship of fictitious R&b singing duo Luscious, begins with a break-up.

On the cusp of releasing of their new album ‘Phoenix’, Lupita (Melyssa Ford) – the older, more seasoned performer – asks her boyfriend Marcel (Romaine Waite) to leak a story that Luscious is parting ways. This comes after Lupita sees younger member Neveah drinking to excess and making out with their manager Lenny (Glen Michael Grant) right before they take the stage.

With this slight bit of context, Lupita pulls the plug on not just the event, but the whole act. Just like that, Luscious is over.

The action picks up 15 years later: Lupita has retired from singing and has started a family with Marcel that includes pre-teen daughter Simone (Eden Cupid). Neveah, meanwhile, is still struggling to relaunch her music career, which means taking auditioning with up and...

Pinewood Unveils Revised Studios Expansion Proposal

Pinewood Group has revised its plans to expand its Buckinghamshire site and launched a new public consultation to discuss development options. While noting that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently called the site “the spiritual home of the British film industry,” Pinewood said proposals include additional stages and production facilities, alongside a new data center. This would use space to the south of the existing Pinewood Studios. Pinewood Group CEO David Conway said the “reduction in global content production, combined with rising construction costs and business rates,” had triggered the review of existing planning consent. The public consultation will take place on February 25-27. Along with Shepperton, Pinewood is a fable British studio, home to huge hits including Bond movies, Star Wars and Bridgerton.

Selena Gomez on Bringing Her ‘Childhood Gift’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Back for Reboot Series: ‘I Just Want to Provide That for the Next Generation’
Image
Selena Gomez’s career took off as she took on the iconic role of Alex Russo in the beloved Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” — and now she’s paying it forward with her TV brother David Henrie.

For years, the two friends would have wine nights and discuss what their characters would be up to as they grew up. “We kept talking about it!” Gomez tells Variety at the “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” premiere in Los Angeles.

“It was so organic. We never felt any pressure,” Henrie says. “The original fan should know there was never a mandate to be like, ‘We have to make this show, now’s the time to make the show.’ It just came to a point where we were like, ‘Maybe we got something here.'”

The two brought their revival idea to Disney and the full-fledged reboot, “Wizards Beyond,” received a 21-episode order for its first season.

These coaches stand apart from more traditional movie mentors by not only being measured by their wins and losses, but by how they foster relationships with their students.

The Richest 'High School Musical' Cast Members Ranked (No.1's Net Worth Beats No. 2 by Millions!)

No Disney Channel Original Movie had the masses soaring and flying in quite the same way as High School Musical.

Released in 2006, the original movie starred the likes of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale at the very start of their careers. It was the sort of smash hit that launched a mega-successful franchise and that had a positive impact on their net worth.

After working their way through classic bops like “We’re All In This Together,” the group got together for two more movies. High School Musical 3: Senior Year even got a theatrical release.

The franchise even inspired a Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, starring the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett.

Alongside Zac, Vanessa and Ashley, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel made up the main group of the original High School Musical franchise. Many of them have...

Vanessa Hudgens Reunites With High School Musical Best Friend After 15 Years
Image
Vanessa Hudgens and Monique Coleman, best known for their roles in High School Musical, recently reunited for the launch of Hudgens' new beverage line. Hudgens has taken on more mature and gritty roles in movies like Spring Breakers and Gimme Shelter, but she returned to her musical roots in Grease Live! Coleman embraced her Disney roots with projects like A Christmas Dance Reunion and her return to High School Musical in the spin-off series.

Actor Vanessa Hudgens reunites with her High School Musical best friend Monique Coleman 15 years after the trilogy's release. Premiering on the Disney Channel in 2006, Kenny Ortega's musical-comedy became one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of the 2000s. Hudgens starred as Gabriella, the nerdy new girl at East High, who falls for star athlete Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) as they prepare to audition for the high school's spring musical together. Coleman portrayed Gabriella's best friend,...

Hulu’s New Thriller ‘The Other Black Girl’ Hinges on Black Hair as a Powerful Storytelling Device
Image
By the time the clock reads 5 a.m., Pamela Hall has had her cup of coffee, said a prayer over her team of stylists, and filled the hair trailer with the sounds of gospel music. These elements kick off Hall’s full and rewarding day as the head of hair department for “The Other Black Girl,” the new Hulu series that premieres September 13.

Tapping into her background working in the hair salon world from 2000 to 2015, Hall wanted the set’s hair trailer to be a safe, sacred environment akin to a Black beauty shop, a community hub where Black women gather for a sense of liberation, vulnerability, and empowerment.

“Since we were the first stop for our actors, I wanted them to relax, clear their minds, and only focus on what they need to focus on,” said Hall. “I didn’t want them feeling an ounce of stress. If they...

Warning: The following article contains spoilers from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4.

High School Musical: The Series season 4 reveals that Troy and Gabriella are in couples therapy, indicating a rocky relationship. Chad and Taylor are married in High School Musical 4: The Reunion, giving their underused characters a chance to shine. Ryan, now openly gay, is in a relationship and expecting twins, showcasing the show's commitment to inclusivity.

Disney gave High School Musical fans something they have been begging for for 15 years — High School Musical 4. Unfortunately, the fourth movie was entirely fictional and only existed as a storyline in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4. The concept is a bit complicated, but basically, the Disney+ series' final season featured the original High School Musical cast, including Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, and Lucas Grabeel, playing themselves and reprising their characters while...

High School Musical Shocker: Are Troy and Gabriella Still Together?
Kate Reinders, Adrian Lyles, Liamani Segura, Julia Lester, Larry Saperstein, Saylor Bell Curda, Matt Cornett, Mark St. Cyr, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Joe Serafini, and Dara Reneé in High School Musical: La Comédie Musicale: La Série (2019)
This week, the final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series premiered on Disney+.

Unfortunately, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens didn't join their co-stars from the original movies to make a cameo on the spinoff.

But that doesn't mean we didn't get any indication about where Troy and Gabriella's relationship is in 2023.

Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed, and Kaycee Stroh returned to play themselves.

The group also resurrected their High School Musical roles as Chad Danforth, Taylor McKessie, Ryan Evans, Coach Jack Bolton, Ms. Darbus, and Martha Cox, respectively.

The returning faces popped up at East High to shoot High School Musical 4.

There were hopes that Efron and Hudgens would make surprise appearances for at least one scene, but it didn't happen.

The closest we got to Troy and Gabriella was a sad update about their relationship, courtesy of Corben.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the fourth and final season of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” now streaming on Disney+.

The Wildcats of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” have taken their final bow.

The Disney+ extension of the popular movie musical trilogy concluded this week with an eight-episode fourth season that found its cast performing a stage — or rather, basketball court — production of 2008’s “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” Members of that film’s original cast returned to East High to shoot the fictional “High School Musical 4: The Reunion.”

Although the original films have had a presence since the pilot episode — the series is set at the high school where the films were shot — the final season is the show’s most meta endeavor yet.

Instead of continuing the story within the world of the Disney Channel film, the first season of the television show featured a group of high schoolers attending the real East High (where High School Musical was filmed) and putting on a production of High School Musical.
