- In 1964, at the age of six, his family immigrated to Israel. They settled in Migdal HaEmek, where he was raised and educated.
- In 1977 he graduated from the Ort Rogozin high school in Migdal HaEmek.
- Has 10 siblings.
- In 1984 he graduated from the 22nd class of the Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts, alongside classmates such as Odia Koren, Idit Teperson and Anat Waxman.
- In 2008 he received the Special Award for "Bustan Sephardi".
- He received the Kalchkin Award.
- In 1988 he received the Outstanding Actor Award at the Acco Festival of Alternative Israeli Theatre.
- During his years in the theater, Cohen appeared in a wide variety of productions - among others at the Chamber Theater, Haifa, Orna Forat and Bima.
- Cohen is considered one of the pioneers of stand-up in Israel.
- For his professional work, Cohen won a number of important awards: the award for the outstanding actor at the Acre Festival of Other Israeli Theater (1988), the Kalchakin Award as an outstanding employee of the Bhima Theater, and a special award for the decade and more than 1000 performances of the musical "Bustan Sephardi" (2008).
