As an actor, Scott Coffey honed his filmmaking skills working with directors such as Robert Zemeckis, Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Thomas Anderson, and David Lynch. As a director, he's influenced by Bernardo Bertolucci, Robert Altman, and by his continuing longterm collaboration with Lynch, whom he considers a mentor. His first feature as a writer/director, ELLIE PARKER, starred Naomi Watts in a tour de force performance as the title character, and competed in the Sundance Film Festival. It was distributed by Strand Releasing and opened to rave reviews. ADULT WORLD, featuring indelible performances by Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, and John Cusack, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released by IFC Films. His latest film, IT TAKES THREE, which just premiered starring Jared Gilman, Mikey Madison, and Aurora Perrineau, was praised for its realistic portrayal of American teenagers. His films have earned critical acclaim for their humanistic sensibility, humor, and honesty.
