Biopic Of "Emmanuelle" Star Kristel Planned
PVPictures and Dutch Features are teaming for the biopic "Sylvia Kristel: Object of Desire" which will aim for a 2015 release.

Kristel, who died at age 60 last year, was the iconic star of the legendary erotic drama film series "Emmanuelle".

Her role came to symbolise the sexual revolution of the 1970s. However, she never fully coped with the fame that came with the role, and she found herself battling addiction and typecasting.

She also shared stormy relationships with British actor Ian McShane and Belgian top author Hugo Claus. Sylvia's son Arthur Kristel will serve as a consultant.

Paul Voorthuysen and Pim van Collem will produce.

Sylvia Kristel obituary
Her film career was dominated by her role as Emmanuelle

The title role of the sexually adventurous housewife in Emmanuelle (1974) became a reference for every part she played subsequently. This was not surprising, as the Dutch star did play a character called Emmanuelle, with few variations, many times over.

In the original film, Kristel portrayed the bored wife of a French embassy official in Bangkok, urged by her libertine husband to explore all the possibilities of sex. Thereupon, she finds herself in bed with, among others, a lesbian archaeologist and an elderly roué. Directed with some grace by Just Jaeckin, this glossy soft-porn package, dressed up as art-house erotica, was a huge international hit, becoming the first X-rated film to be released in the Us. Lushly photographed and...
