Here’s How Days of Our Lives Resurrected Guiding Light
Image
Days of Our Lives always has fun, sometimes obscure pop-culture references interspersed in the characters’ dialogue. In December 2022, an eagle-eyed fan on X, formerly Twitter, noticed a mention of the president of Salem’s city council as being Cass Winthrop. This was a nod to the Another World character of the same name. Stephen Schnetzer played Cass from 1982 until 1999 and recently reprised his Days role as Steven Olson. Now comes another reference to an old soap. And the fans were on top of it.

Lady Whistleblower’s Bank Gave It Away

On the January 7 episode of Days, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) implored Chad (Billy Flynn) to tell her the identity of the new Lady Whistleblower, whose articles are endangering the soap-within-a-soap called Body & Soul. Chad went on about privacy issues and admitted that the person submitted articles anonymously. However, Steph convincingly argued that the articles were hit pieces, not just opinions.

Russell Tovey 'more selective' about gay characters
Former 'Celebrity Big Brother' star Chloe Goodman has gone on a 10-week fitness blitz so she can be in as good shape as her boyfriend. The 21-year-old brunette beauty is in a relationship with Scunthorpe United player Jordan Clarke, 23, and has become determined to get a six-pack as impressive as the hunky athlete's. Critics Are Going Bananas For Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes
In just a few short weeks, Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will finally arrive in theaters. All eyes are on this latest installment in the primate vs. human franchise, as it has a lot to live up to after 2011′s well-received and hugely successful reboot/prequel/relaunch, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Can this new chapter in the long running series manage to live up to the hype and pull off the character-driven, action-packed spectacle that’s been promised in the trailers?

We mere mortals may have to wait to find out how the war between Gary Oldman’s disparate group of human survivors and Caesar’s family of genetically-enhanced apes shakes out, but a lucky few have already seen the film, and offered their opinions on it via Twitter. Luckily, they appear to be going bananas for it (sorry), and have hereby raised my astronomical expectations even higher.

Caesar Prays For Peace In New Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes TV Spot
Most of the marketing material for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has employed a dark, harrowing tone, which was to be expected from a film about genetically enhanced apes waging war on a dwindling human society. However, there appears to be a great deal of heart at the core of this sequel, specifically in the relationship that forms between Caesar and Malcolm (Jordan Clarke).

20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot for the film today and it has quite a bit of new footage that highlights this burgeoning friendship, and how it may play into the larger narrative. Check it out below:

As you can see, Caesar seems to become quite attached to Malcolm, after the human bonds with the apes and attempts to forge a peace between their two species. Of course, not all goes as planned. From the looks of it, Malcolm butts heads...

Arsenal vs Coventry: Fa Cup Preview, Team News & Likely Line-Ups
Joe Giddens/Pa Wire

Date: Friday, 24 January 2014; Venue: Emirates Stadium, London; Kickoff: 19:45 GMT

Third tier team Coventry City travel to Premier League leaders Arsenal in the Fa Cup fourth round on Friday with only one win against the Londoners in 20 years in all competitions.

Robbie Keane, who went on to play for the Gunners’ bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, scored the winner at Highfield Road in December 1999 as the Sky Blues emerged victorious 3-2. You have to go back to 1993 for the last time Coventry won at Arsenal by the handsome scoreline 3-0. Micky Quinn’s hat-trick in half an hour at Highbury did the damage.

The Sky Blues’ have a dismal Fa Cup record against the Gunners too. Arsenal have never lost to Coventry in the world’s oldest knockout football competition. In all cup competitions full stop the West Midlands outfit have recorded a single win.

Were it...

Sheetal Sheth and Lisa Ray in I Can't Think Straight

Answer: I reached out to Aida Kattan, the head of the Los Angeles office of writer-director Shamim Sarif's Enlightenment Films, and she confirmed that I Can't Think Straight, the series, is indeed in development by Sarif and her wife and co-producer Hanan Kattan.
