What If I Told You Netflix’s ‘Hot Frosty’ Is Really Fun?
Image
Like everyone else, when I first saw the trailer for Netflix’s “Hot Frosty” — about a snowman who comes to life to charm a single woman in a small town — I groaned and giggled at the same time. It felt like a parody of the cheesy Christmas TV movie genre, the kind of simplistic, home-for-the-holidays fun that Hallmark has long championed and Netflix has successfully showcased to a younger audience over the last handful of years. I figured I’d half-watch at some point while also imbibing in some holiday cheer when doom-scrolling got a little too bleak.

Well.

I finally viewed the 90-minute smash starring Dustin Milligan as the titular Frosty and Lacey Chabert, and while it’s not winning any Emmys, it’s a sweet, surprisingly charming outing that should be able to hold its own entertaining both your parents and any teens in your life this holiday season.

How Netflix’s Christmas Movie Blitz Found Heart in Silliness, From Sexy Snowmen to Male Strippers
Image
Inherent in any Christmas movie is an element of silliness; it’s just the way of things. More often than not, magic is involved, and highly improbable love stories result in moving halfway across the country and giving up massive paychecks. But this year, Netflix really leaned in on absurdity for their Christmas offerings, and in the end, it helped the stars and creators of the films find the heart of it all.

The streamer has five new original Christmas movies this year, and rolled out one new film every Wednesday beginning in early November. In one, a sexy snowman comes to life and struggles not to melt while also trying to woo the woman who unwittingly brought him to life. In another, a small-town bar needs saving, so the owners’ daughter creates a Christmas-themed all male revue, because what better way to rake in cash?

Those films are “Hot Frosty” and “The Merry Gentlemen,...

Lacey Chabert On Why She Struggled Filming Netflix Movie Hot Frosty

Lacey Chabert in Hot Frosty [Image Netflix on YouTube]

Lacey Chabert may be Hallmark’s Queen of Christmas, but she is also making waves on Netflix in her new holiday movie, Hot Frosty.

Beloved Mean Girls and Hallmark star Lacey Chabert recently opened up about how she struggled while filming her new Netflix movie, Hot Frosty.

While Lacey has starred in multiple Hallmark Christmas and other movies with no problems on the film set, she has opened up about the issues she had filming that Netflix movie.

Hallmark star Lacey Chabert on her struggle while filming Netflix’s Hot Frosty

While Lacey Chabert has starred in many movies and reality shows with Hallmark Channel and, of course, in Mean Girls, we were surprised to learn that she had problems on the set of the Netflix holiday movie, Hot Frosty.

Netflix's Christmas Movie With 89% Rt Score Becomes No. 1 Movie As The Holiday Begins
Image
Netflix's new Christmas movie with an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score becomes the streaming service's No. 1 movie as the holiday season begins. Netflix has been producing original Christmas movies since 2017, starting with A Christmas Prince. Since then, the streaming service has solidified its reputation as a go-to platform for holiday films with titles like The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens, The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell, and Klaus, an Oscar-nominated animated movie, exemplifying the diversity of Netflix's Christmas movie catalog.

In 2024, Netflix already had the holiday romantic comedy, Meet Me Next Christmas, top its Global Top 10 chart for the week of November 410 with over 18 million views. The holiday season is just beginning, so there should be plenty more Christmas movies appearing on Netflix's global chart before the year's end. This includes Netflix's new romantic comedy Christmas movie starring Lacey Chabert, a frequent star of Hallmark's Christmas movies, which has become the streaming service's new No.

This Year's Goofiest, Strangest Christmas Movie Has Taken Over Netflix
Image
For many years, the Hallmark Channel seemed to have a monopoly on the made-for-tv Christmas rom-com subgenre. But as streamers like Netflix continue to become the main source of entertainment for millions of people across the globe, they've been expanding their original offerings to include these silly, saccharine, and undeniably addictive movies that people can't seem to get enough of during the holiday season. Sure, there are some that simply hate-watch these types of stories about high-powered women who visit their humble hometowns for the holidays and decide to give it all up to fall back in love with their now-hunky high school sweethearts who own farms and exclusively wear festive flannels, but there are plenty of people who genuinely, unapologetically love these movies.

Netflix hasn't been afraid to embrace even the most absurd set-ups for these movies, establishing its own very real and legitimate multiverse of holiday movies. However,...

Hot Frosty (2024) Movie Review & Ending Explained: Can Jack the Snowman Defy the Odds and Find True Love?
Jerry Ciccoritti
It’s November, and Netflix is already kicking off the holiday season with Christmas movies. Directed by Jerry Ciccoritti, Hot Frosty (2024) stars Lacey Chabert, Craig Robinson, and an eight-pack snowman brought to life by Dustin Milligan. Like most holiday films, it concludes on a cheerful note. However, it falls short of being a delightful treat for viewers. While it attempts to evoke the Christmas spirit with cozy scenes of cookies and twinkling lights, it misses the mark when it comes to fostering a genuine sense of community. Yes, the protagonist has a couple of close friends, but that’s a given in any small-town setup. Worse, the forced inclusion of a cancer subplot feels unnecessary and jarring.

The story centers on Kathy Barrett, a widow still mourning the loss of her husband to cancer. Caught up in her hectic routine, she discovers a snow-sculpture competition just before Christmas. Among the...

Hot Frosty's Magic Explained: How Jack's Snowman Turned Into A Real Person
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Hot Frosty.

It wouldn't be a Christmas film without a bit of magic, and Hot Frosty's fantastical elements all come down to one simple red scarf. The Netflix Christmas movie, directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline, tells the tale of a snowman who comes to life one night and subsequently falls in love with the woman responsible for his humanity. Of course, this impressive feat in Hot Frosty would not have been possible without a bit of magic.

Lacey Chabert is a certified Christmas movie queen as she has starred in more than a dozen holiday films on the Hallmark Channel, but Hot Frosty marks her first Netflix Christmas project.

The cast of Hot Frosty includes Lacey Chabert as Kathy Barrett, the woman who (unknowingly) brings the snowman to life, and Dustin Milligan as Jack Snowman, the aforementioned man of snow.

Hot Frosty
Image
There’s a famous New York café called Serendipity 3 that serves a monstrously sugary dessert called a frozen hot chocolate. This similarly contradictory title hides an equally over-sweetened centre to Netflix’s latest piece of hunky Christmas junk. A snowman comes to life in a small town, warms the cockles of all who meet him and strikes up a non-steamy romance with a comely widow. This will only rise above your expectations if you keep them well below freezing.

Our big-hearted hero is Lacey Chabert’s Kathy, who owns a “kafe” (a Kardashians fan?) and is kind to everyone – even, it turns out, inanimate snow sculptures (snow that looks a lot like polystyrene), one of which she adorns with a red scarf that’s expressly been given to her. This regifting has the unexpected consequence of bringing the sculpture to six-packing life. The tall glass of vanilla ice goes...

Hot Frosty Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play In Netflix's Christmas Movie
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Hot Frosty.

Netflix's Hot Frosty joins the group of Christmas movies coming to the streaming service in 2024, and, unsurprisingly, its soundtrack is full of holiday tunes (and a couple of recognizable non-holiday songs). The fantasy romantic comedy film, directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline, chronicles the story of a snowman who comes to life and falls in love. Perhaps Hot Frosty is a typical, cheesy, feel-good Christmas movie, but its soundtrack should appease any audience.

The cast of Hot Frosty includes Lacey Chabert as Kathy and Dustin Milligan as Jack. Kathy, who lost her husband two years prior to the events of the film, owns a restaurant in the small town of Hope Springs. Although she has a great support system, Kathy routinely fails to take care of herself (and her house). However, that all changes when Kathy...

Hot Frosty Ending Explained: What Happens To Jack & Kathy After Christmas
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Hot Frosty.

Like many other Netflix holiday movies that came before it, Hot Frosty begins with heartbreak and ends with joy. The 2024 Christmas fantasy romantic-comedy film, directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline, follows the burgeoning relationship between a woman who has experienced a devastating tragedy and a man who is not quite a man. When Lacey Chabert's character, Kathy, is given a (unbeknownst to her) magical scarf, she wraps it around one of the snowmen, Jack, in her hometown's snowman-building contest. That night, he comes to life and completely changes Kathy's world.

Hot Frosty is just one of many holiday movies coming to Netflix in 2024. Others include Meet Me Next Christmas, The Merry Gentlemen, Our Little Secret, and That Christmas.

Jack quickly picks up the ways of being a human as the people of Hope Springs warmly welcome him.

‘Hot Frosty’ Review: Lacey Chabert Trades Fruitcake for Beefcake in Netflix’s Heartwarming Holiday Romp
Image
Shaking up holiday traditions in irreverently welcome ways, director Jerry Ciccoritti and writer Russell Hainline’s “Hot Frosty” redesigns the look and feel of the familiar snow-made showcase. Their story, centered on a wishful widow who magically transforms a snowman into a hunky rube, balances its sillier aspects with a touching sense of sincerity. They do away with the cartoonish character’s corncob pipe, coal eyes and rotund body, replacing these features with beefy biceps, chiseled bone structure and sculpted abs. The narrative delivers some refreshing highlights for the benefit of Netflix’s Holiday Cinematic Universe, specifically acknowledging its target audience’s yearning for a sprinkling of cheeky, wanton lust alongside its gentle yet genuine dramatics.

To set the tone, the camera pivots in its opening descent upon the picturesque town of Hope Springs, from a quaint two-story decked out in festive decor to an undecorated neighboring house where Kathy (Lacey Chabert) dwells.

Hot Frosty Review — A Magical Little Christmas Movie
Image
It’s beginning to look like Christmas, and Netflix is joining the party, so they kick-start the spirit with their latest Hot Frosty. Hot Frosty Review: When Snowmen Fall in Love
Image
A wonderfully unusual addition to Netflix’s holiday lineup is “Hot Frosty,” the streaming service’s newest holiday movie. The movie was directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline. Lacey Chabert plays Kathy, a café owner in the cute town of Hope Springs who has lost her husband. Dustin Milligan plays Jack, a magically animated snowman who turns into a surprisingly complicated love lead.

The movie cleverly breaks the rules of typical holiday movies by starting with a plot that is both silly and touching. Jack comes to life when Kathy wraps a magical red scarf around a snow sculpture. Jack is a muscular, innocent figure who could be Kathy’s love interest and serves as a metaphor for grief and renewal.

“Hot Frosty” is different because it’s not afraid to mess with your assumptions. It’s not just another sugary Christmas romance; it’s a complex...

‘Hot Frosty’ Trailer: Lacey Chabert’s Netflix Christmas Movie Brings a Sexy Snowman to Life and Nods to ‘Mean Girls’

Some people are worth melting for — especially the hot ones.

In the new trailer for Netflix’s holiday rom-com “Hot Frosty,” Christmas movie queen Lacey Chabert stars as a widow named Kathy, who magically brings a sexy snowman (“Schitt’s Creek” alum Dustin Milligan) to life. Through his naïveté, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays … and before he melts.

At the end of the trailer, Chabert’s character is seen watching Lindsay Lohan’s 2023 Netflix holiday film “Falling for Christmas.” In a nod to their beloved 2004 flick “Mean Girls,” she quips, “That’s so funny. That looks just like a girl I went to high school with.”

Joe Lo Truglio and Craig Robinson bring some comedic relief as a pair of police officers, while Katy Mixon Greer, Lauren Holly, Chrishell Stause, Sherry Miller, Dan Lett,...
