Death Streamer (2024)
Hideous Noir: black & white version of creature feature has been released by Full Moon
Death Streamer (2024)
Last year, Charles Band’s company Full Moon announced that they were launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which would focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” Two Pulp Noir movies, Quadrant and Death Streamer, have since made their way through production – and while those movies were initially released in color, all of the Pulp Noir movies will also get black & white “noir” releases, so there are both color and black & white versions of Quadrant and Death Streamer available on the Full Moon Features streaming service. While we wait for more Pulp Noir movies to be made, Band has started going through the Full Moon library to give some of their older films the black & white / noir treatment. This noir series, which is expected to consist of at least a dozen films, got started with a black & white version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers.

‘Grindhouse 14: Hideous!’ Review
Stars: Michael Citriniti, Rhonda Griffin, Mel Johnson Jr., Jacqueline Lovell, Tracie May, Jerry O’Donnell, Andrew Johnston | Written by Benjamin Carr | Directed by Charles Band

Not much more than a group of actors sat round in a Romanian castle (the very same one owned by Charles Band that featured in Castle Freak no doubt) talking trash to each other, with the occasional appearance by a group of deformed “creatures”… that is the plot of Hideous! in a nutshell. Although the official synopsis goes something like this: “Dr. Lorca, an eccentric collector of biological oddities, has just acquired his greatest specimen; a horrible mutant born of noxious waste… but the creature’s rightful owner wants it back. The collector’s clash is cut short though, as the sickening specimen comes to life, re-animating an angry, oozing little army of ferocious freaks.”

On December 10, Food for Thought Productions staged another of their memorable events at The Players, the legendary arts club at Gramercy Park in New York City. A talented group of actors gathered to pay tribute to the late, great Rod Serling. The event offered a reading by Serling's daughter Anne in which she poignantly and touchingly recalls what life was like growing up with a father who was regarded as one of the entertainment industry's great talents. Anne Serling told a story similar to that of other children of celebrities: to her, he was just "dad" - a funny, gentle man who...
