IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Ramapada Chowdhury was born in a small town of undivided Bengal in Kharagpur. He studied at the Presidency College of the elite Calcutta University (known for its Nobel Laureates). He was one a member of the editorial board of Anandabazar Patrika - a news daily produced even today. Ramapada was well known for his short stories, and novels. Many of them have been adapted as films in modern Indian filmography. One his most famous work is 'Ek Doctor Ki Maut'. This film depicts the angst and frustration of a young Indian doctor being traded as a political scapegoat for publishing his ground breaking on leprosy to the international press community. Ramapada has soulfully captured the essence of the middle and lower middle classes fight for the daily existence. He was the recipient of Sahitya Academy Award, Ananda Purashkar, and Rabindra Purashkar.
